Bloody hell Laird Rake, I would snap this port offer up, is the helicopter in service atm? I am sure it would be more convenient to pick him up in that.
-
Oh go on rakey, you must have some stalking for him within 20 miles of Manchester? And what about all the grouse in the peak district, I will go round and make sure he gets up and goes, he can be a little unreliable, I expect its due to having so many offers, he cant make his mind up which to do most days.

Basic Reloading Setup Or Ppu Ammo
charlie caller replied to irishnut's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Go with the Lee hand press kit, they are superb, it is all I use for some superbly accurate reloads, one bit of advice, for the sake of a tenner or so, get the Lee factory crimp die, and your loads will be as good as they can be, a fantastic bit of kit. -
17 Winchester Super Magnum

I have said this before, if you massage the figures slightly and use the most pedestrian load data for the .22 hornet as a comparison, yes the .17 nail gun can be made to appear almost as good, the reality is that the .22 hornet can be loaded up to pretty damn close to .222 figures, pumping out over twice the power, it can be loaded with a variety of bullets and tailored to different jobs, I think you will find Alsone that getting granted a .17wsm will be nigh on as hard/easy as getting a .22 hornet for instance, it will I suggest, be up a rung so to speak, from the .17hmr, I think anyone who -

This is the problem, too much looking at charts, not enough experience, charts will only tell you a bit of the story, yes they can be useful, but nothing beats knowledge gained from being out in the field with a variety of calibres, on a variety of quarry, when you do that, and only then you will realise most charts are best used for wiping your posterior on. -
You can have the grooves in the ejectors and barrel where the cartridge sits reamed a bit to deepen them slightly, I had it done on a Lincoln u/o once it did help a bit, but I would not worry too much.

Well after all the offers he has had, the cheeky, selfish sod tries to palm me off with one of his offers he has turned down it sounded great, on paper, a free 250 bird day on the pheasants, but then I find out the truth, and why he has passed it up, the shoot lunch is in a fuc-ing barn, a barn I ask you, well you can keep that, in future, please only pass days on to me that have a sumptious lunch in the big house, NO MORE RUBBISH, oh almost forgot, and I would have had to make my own way there .

Right you need to be careful here, some farmers can be very funny when it comes to permission letters, if you give out the tel number ect of the farmers not willing to give you letters are you sure they will back you up WHEN the police ring or write to them? Secondly, assuming you are granted a .17hmr on the one area of land you will get a letter on, are the other areas passed for .17hmr or above? As you will not be granted an open ticket, so will only be allowed to use the rifle on ground passed up to or over .17hmr, I would ring the firearms dept and ask them what each area of ground is pass

Hmr not suitable? Whatever next, I happen to know they will take boar down from 300 yards easily, or is it bears? Cant quite remember, anyway old boy do bear me in mind, as I am sure the offers are flooding in by now! This has given me an idea! Perhaps I will ask for a free holiday, with shooting included obviously.

Which indeed it is,however if an armed response team turn up and see a stalker with rifle slung over his shoulder, rather than some idiot walking around with his sheep in wolfs clothing, that would not look out of place on a video game, they will be more inclined I would suggest, to approach in a calm manner, and you are less likely to have a series of red dots appear on your chest.

17 Winchester Super Magnum
charlie caller replied to shottyscotty's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Look lets simplify this, if you have ground passed for a deer calibre rifle, (you can find out what if you ring and ask) you can apply for anything up to and including the calibre it is passed up to, so lets say it is passed for .270 for instance, you can apply for anything up to and including a .270, if your letters of permission state a calibre on them, and you need to show them on your variation for a new calibre(though why you would is beyond me, when they will know what the ground is passed up to) get it amended, in light of your informing us of the ground being centerfire cleared, dont p -
I quite agree, whatever it is dressed up in it is still a .22 rimfire popgun, having it look like a prop from starship troopers, will not make it more powerful or accurate, walking round with one of these is a splendid invitation to have its big brother pointed at your head, and ordered to lie in the shite.

and if anyone has a spare trigger unit complete, please let me know.

Is it still true that "men" south of Watford gap have no testicles?

Dont you want any free Salmon fishing as well mate? I know you said you dont drive, but if someone picks you up by helicopter, surely a mcnab would be on the cards? I am sure it wont be long before the offers start rolling in, if you cant make any dates, will you pass one or two on to me bud.

Cant Zero In Scope Help Needed

what from a .22 rf? shim the scope, if it wont hold zero after you have done that, change the mounts, if it still wont its Donald ducked. -
.223 Or .243 For Lamping Foxes
charlie caller replied to DeerhoundLurcherMan's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Well if you must have 4000+ fps a 243 can be loaded to exceed that with a 55 grain bullet no problem, and with a good moderator on board, the recoil is very mild, and I find I can see whats going on, but fair enough mate, we all have our preferences, Activeviii I dont know why you have a problem with .222 rounds? It is a very common calibre, every shop around here carries .222 ammo, and it is a piece of cake to reload for. -
.223 Or .243 For Lamping Foxes
charlie caller replied to DeerhoundLurcherMan's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Well I would love to know what makes you think your .204 is a better fox round than .243, yes it is flat shooting, but so is my 80gn blitz load doing 3400fps the drop at 300 yards is tiny, not even worth bothering about, it is far less bothered by wind, and at 300 yards retains far more energy than a .204 does at 100 yards, and yes a .22 hornet is a fantastic little fox round, load for it and you have a super accurate fox killer out to 200 yards. -
Set of wank-rs should be shipped off on the next plane, who the fu-k do they think they are? This has got to stop, how much more of this are we meant to take, before we show them that this is England and we dont want their fuc-in muslim shitty ways here.

That shouldn't be the case, depending on what permission slip you're using. A permission slip shouldn't specify the calibre only that you have been granted permission by the landowner to shoot on the ground for X species and with permission to bring a guest (if needed). I understand that if it says that and once granted therefore, and unless revoked, you have permission for any calibre suitable for the given species subject to the land being approved for that calibre and the police adding it to your certificate. Only if you add further species do you need a new permission in order to a -
.223 Or .243 For Lamping Foxes
charlie caller replied to DeerhoundLurcherMan's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Well next time you see them ask to have a look at the certificates, there is more chance of platting fog than getting a .243, to shoot in England on open ticket with the particular force in question, without any rifle experience, or any other force I would hope, you see its ok saying they got open ticket to shoot in Scotland, but if you have not seen the conditions attached to this "open" condition then perhaps you should have a look, it could, and probably does say for use only when accompanied by Jock the estate stalker, when there is an east wind and he is wearing blue underpants, do a bit -

The only problem I can see if they wanted to be funny, (as they sometimes do) say you have an area of land passed up to .17 hmr (obviously this is for closed cert holders) and you asked for the more powerful .17wsm then would they then make a farce out of going and re checking the land for that calibre? in the same way that ground passed for .22 rf would have to be re checked for .17 hmr.
