Best Value Recoil Or Gas Shotgun 12G
charlie caller replied to Craig Fosse's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Ah ok I thought it was one ofb those daft black affairs with a pistol grip ect, with you saying it looked like a cop gun, ok well he should be ok with that then. -

I dont blame you mate, over here a cheapo mossberg pump action is worth very little, you cant really give them away, at least if it was a standard type of thing rather than some rambo thing that the swat team use, then it would be better, thats why I am saying he would be better saving a bit more, but if he can shoot it well, thats what matters. -
That and let your bird see his grab one (assuming you have not already done so) might do the trick.

Bloody hell well that does put things in perspective, well I would say if the gun fits him then he might have a chance of shooting straight with it, but unless he is desperate for a gun, he would be better saving for something better, or getting the credit card out. -

Yes I can see his problem mate, so I take it getting a gun shipped to a rfd where you live is a really expensive thing then? If that is the case then they have got you by the short and curly's, could you not have a trip onto the mainland and bring one back? I think I would try and steer him towards a more traditional gun like a sbs if the above 2 options are not feasible. -

Well its his money, but £300 for a crappy pump action is daylight robbery, was the man in the shop wearing a mask, saying stand and deliver and brandishing a flintlock pistol? And your original post asks about gas or recoil(inertia) semi autos, which he would be a million times better off with than a pump action. -

And what a plonker he would look with that, besides not being able to hit a barn door with it probably, its worth about 6pence, who in their right mind would want that thing? Tell him to get on guntrader and buy a good used Berretta, Remington, Winchester, ect and forget pump actions they are crap and not worth a w-nk when you come to re-sell them, as he would surely do. There is a lad on the guns and rifles section selling a Remington 1187 in good condition, £400 a little gentle negotiation should see him get a good gun for his price point -
Wanted Land Permission Wanted In Hull And Surrounding Villages
charlie caller replied to Darroncurtis's topic in Rabbit Shooting
Well there is a golden opportunity for you mate, if Laird Rake gets his factors to draw you up a permission letter, why not put in for a deer rifle and help the guy out with his cull targets on the deer? In the meantime enjoy the rabbiting, Rake is a very generous fellow, I think he is a credit to this site -

charlie caller replied to jumby's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Shame you did not take a photo of it mate, but let us know how she shoots then, I would still try another scope mate if all your efforts at sanding dont pay off, it might save you a few quid at the gunsmiths -

If thats his budget then it has to be a used Berretta 301/302 they are fine guns, even the old abused ones keep on going, a mate of mine picked an absolute mint one up for £275 recently, Franchi are also a good value gun secondhand, if you can find one, but whatever he buys tell him to avoid like the plague those dreadful Hatstand/escorts, he would be better using a walking stick. -

Forgot to say if it still wont shoot, then before you do anything else, take the scope off and try another, to rule that out. -

When you say an "obstruction" do you mean a foreign body,or a permanent, integral piece of the stock? Because if its the latter then that will undoubtedly have been the pressure bedding put their by the factory, however, you may find, (hope you do) that your rifle shoots better with it removed, as I did with my Weatherby, when I fitted a custom stock, or it may be worse, if that is the case you will have to either bed the barrel, or shim it under the pressure point, with various thickness shims to get the pressure right, but lets hope you have sorted it now. -
Ha Ha, yeah, I'd actually say the CZ, but as for best looker...you ever heard of Specsavers! Well I think they are rather a good looking rifle, but whatever, if you like playing around and adding bits, a 10/22 is the best option, loads and loads of trick bits for them, and despite what some say they are an accurate rifle, but that standard trigger is like a kids cap gun trigger, that is a definite must do modification, if you want to shoot decent groups, and Seeker have no fear my friend, the bunnies will roll over

So take the stock off and see what the problem is, as I said earlier, I have no idea if that model is free floated or not, but it sounds like its pressure bed to me, if not then you have an obstruction, take that stock off mate and check, let us know the result please. -
CZ 511 without a doubt mate, solid accurate and dependable, or the new 512, but the old model is the best looker in my opinion.

Good luck, but I think the moon might give the game away if your not careful, facemask and gloves back to a hedge.

Get a tin or two of sardines ect, attach the tin to a tree trunk or post with a cable tie, knock a couple of holes in the tin so that the oil just drips out, and put a bit of fishy cat food underneath, he will come for the cat food then lick away at the tin, if you can find out what time he is coming sit and wait, on with the lamp, and bang goodbye charles, it works well, the trick is to find out what time he is coming, the modern way would be with a trail cam, the old fashioned way is with a cheap alarm clock with some bait attached to it with a bit of fishing line, when he takes the bait, th

Get a 12 bore seriously as said blobs of peanut butter where they run, also I have made mini pheasant style feeders, and once they discover the corn they will be at it all the time just sit and wait, that is a great way to shoot them.

New Silencer ....help Needed
charlie caller replied to acculead's topic in General Airgun Discussion
It will be fine as a comparison, I have a moderator rated to .30 cal on my .243 and it is superb. -
Yes very interesting, how do the polymags group in your rifle, I have some in .22 but I think I might like to try a tin in .177 to see how they group in my Gamo maxima?
-
Well done mate, and as said she will finish the season a big bird, as an aside, hows the lad doing with the gos, has he managed to get it going, or killed it yet?
-
You can't send guns via TNT though. Or pretty much any other courier. You can do a RFD - RFD transfer but someone has to pay the extra charges. Really I had a section 1 delivered to my local shop yesterday, via rfd obviously, could have sworn it said tnt on the invoice :whistling:a new airgun or secondhand from a dealer must go rfd, but the private man can still send none fac airguns via private courier.

Deposit Down On A .243 Savage Axis

Zero half inch high @ 100 yards mate and you wont go far wrong, The Nosler 95 grain and the Hornady sst are basically the same, but I would still advise you to try a few different rounds to see what your rifle likes, the Privi are cheap but not all rifles like them, and you do get the odd flyer, also a good one to try if you can get them are RWS 105gn gecko, a good price and will not give too much meat damage on roe and Muntys. -

It depends what you are shooting pal, but I will assume deer as you are using it to pot fill, in factory I would try some Hornady 95gn sst fantastic deer bullet, and have yet to see a .243 that did not like them, or some Privi 100gn very cheap, but accurate in some rifles, if you start to reload mate, Sierra from the amazing gn blitz and 85gn bthp, up to the superb 100 gn prohunters, will all do the business for you.
