  3. It was a nonsense song, just a few words cobbled together with no meaning, the name Procal harum was some type of Egyptian cat. Great tune though, and as for the summer of love, Thats something those birds in mini skirts made up, and whispered in your ear when they were trying to get your trousers off.
  4. In the picture of the breakaway snare, there is a small eyelet woven into the wire ,that is the stop. The tealer is what supports the snare wire, here is a picture, one is metal, the other is wood .
  5. Len, look on the snaring part of the forum, the bit you want is BREAK AWAY SNARES BY G, S, WATERS,all the specs are there,if you need to buy any, get in touch with WOODGA or TRAPWORKS. They are not very expensive and will last a long time ,when you set your wires keep them away from fences ,because even with stops on they will not last long,if you are setting out in the field you will have to check sevral times a day because ,a rabbit will not last to long, once the wire goes around the back legs.
  6. i think they can,and do,i have come across two litters over the years ,they were both late [oct]and both in the Grantham area.About 10 years ago i lost a doe ferret in a large open field set near Boston,i can only assume her collar packed upand she was stuck, although a local farm worker looked out for her for over a week, we had to give her up for lost, six months later, the ferret was caught in a cage trap on a fenland smallholding, a mile away from where it was lost.
  7. Is this why the royal honeymoon was called off?
  8. i catch two or three every year in traps, this one was caught in a rabbit snare, its in Norfolk now and its just had a litter of two,i dont no why it went in the wire as it was set so high ,it must have ran down the run tasting the air, and come a cropper.
  9. He never applied for a passport,so his visa was revoked
  10. i have a ten month old bitch that runs off when i exercise her ,i want her to stay close to me at all times ,whats my first step, the dog is well bred, but nervous, thanks in advance micky
  11. Its not practical to snare foxs on this land, in any case ,they are shot on a weekly basis ,last week ,two of my lads shot over three hundred rabbits and two foxs in this area,i think my problem was ,that after a weeks, night shooting rabbits, there will be a good few left dead on the ground, this would be enough to draw the foxs in to the snared rabbits ,i can live with the foxs taking a few rabbits now and then the real problem is badgers,i sometimes wonder ,just how much ,can one eat.
  12. My lads will carry on shooting while they are getting a good price for the rabbits ,i wont bother now untill september, theres a bloke here who shoots the foxs, and hes good at it ,but he just car'nt keep on top on em.
  13. set a few nares , foxs had the lot this was a hare ,the badgers done this one, even had my wire away theres five rabbits here, all chewed up,
  14. In the bad old days, when times were genuinely hard for a lot of people , that the good old dog would been shot ,long before it had put to much food on the table, never mind about the butchers or game dealers,as Chalkwarren said ,22 .
