i bought my youngest lad one of those when they first came out ,it just sits in the cabinet now ,but when he was using it, he killed over 1500 rabbits plus loads of crows pidgeons ,etc ,when he was at school ,i used to play with it ,cracking piece of kit.
pms here ..you been here a day and made 7 posts and the place is going to bits ...or is this your ?nth name on THL ..likely another one who wants to make an internet legend of something ...
this isnt here for you to bring one of your shit arguments to... It is a serious post, and i would like it to stay on, till the mod who deleted the post, sees it...
I wasan't bringing any shit arguments to your thread ..was stating my opinion ...why don't you grow a pair and deal with your problem like a man instead of spitting your dummy out publicly like the spoilt brat you often come
I agree............
Never used 1 and never will.................My Grandad would turn in his grave with such technology in the field...
BET he never had a p.c either,, yet here you are
And you would be quite correct................but saying that i dont take my pc ferreting
i think that most people who dont use a locater.....do most of there ferreting on the P.C.
i have just cut my morning short ,i was ferreting some big deep old sets near to Foxton ,there seemed to be a lot of young rabbits still about,i think a cold snap will finish them off.
i am not certain ,but i thought fairground guns were smooth bores,in the 60s iwas given a box of bullets by a showman, there was a 1000 in the box and they were called SPLATTER PROOF,they were made of a compressed material ,i shot a lot of rabbits out of that box
i went out this afternoon and set a few wires,as i returned ,i past the first three snares i had set ,i had set them on a y shaped run,in rough pasture ,at 7 1/2 inchs, two had been knocked ,and one had a half grown rabbit.I reset the snares at eight and a half ,we shall see what the morning brings ,[thats if the foxs have a night off]
No,what was that and when was it ?....Jack was a little before my time although i was told many stories about him.As a small child my father introduced me to him after the Cooper/Clay fight which he promoted though i dont remember it at all i was too young and not jewish enough for him to pay me much attention
His highlight was promoting the Sugar Ray Robinson/Randy Turpin fight which my old dad won a small fortune betting on Turpin at something like 33-1 !
About the middle 60s,Jack would show clips of old fights, his personel top tens in all weightsIt may be on the internet somewhere, the
Yes i can understand that....although i will say Frank Warren has been great for British fighters.
Just out of interest i used to collect a lot of old fight films myself,as you probably know Jim Jacobs who was part of tysons old team had the biggest collection in the world at one stage,it got past down when he died and his son or gr son i forget which, sold them all off....a fiend of a friend managed to get some historic old fights that are worth a fair bit now.....so a collections always worth holding onto
do you remember Jack Solomons Hall of fame,Gnasher?God help you if made a sound i
I took my eldest lad out about twenty years ago,he was ten years old and useing an old single shot 4.10. A cock pheasant lifted from the bracken under his feet, and he raised the gun and fired,he missed the pheasant which i estimated to be about 15-20 yards away, but dropped a pidgeon ,at what we paced out at 50yards,a complete fluke, the gun was my grandpas old 4.10 hammer gun,and only took 2inch cartridges
Its because they eat, and where you have land where a lot of hares are eating, you have to thin them out.
You have to have a hell of a lot of hares for them to be damaging crops etc as their feeding pattern is different to rabbits. Whereas rabbits will munch forward in a line clearing land, hares pick at odd bits here and there. I'd be really surprised if those couple were doing that much damage, it was probably the rabbits. The only reason people seem to really have for getting rid of the hares out of season, is so that they don't get folk with dogs coming on their land in the winte
