Yes, but a friend of my wife came home for Christmas a few years ago, after spending many years in Canada. It was a cold winter here, that year, but not a patch on what they get in Canada. Thing is, she said that it was a different kind of cold here. Just got into her bones, and she couldn't keep the cold out. That's how she explained it.
  2. Interesting pictures. Anything else work to keep the mole traps working during snow/freezing conditions? The false widows seem to be more common than any other spider around my house. Wonder how common is it to be bitten by one.
  3. Was gonna say Fourteenacre, but seemingly they no longer sell fox snares. ? As micky says, Woodga is your man. If you can't get hold of him, I think Game and Country sell Glenn Waters made snares.
  4. What species of rats do you have over there Wolfdog?
  5. In my top five christmas songs of all time
  6. Get a heater and one of those little timer plugs. Then you don't have to worry bout it being left on all night etc.
  7. Wolfdog, maybe this is why lighter material was used for this setup. Longer pole made from steel, you'll have weight being an issue. Now think about having to carry ten of those around. Might be why using a heavy duty version never caught on? Wolfdog, I've just edited to add. Your design is based on two different rat snaring systems. The first of the original systems results in the snared rat being pulled tight by the spring pulling the snare through a small round hole in the upright, resulting in the rat choking quickly The second set up uses a long flexible pole, which suspend
  8. Lads im gonna take a break off this for a while. Me heads fried? Let me know if anything exciting happens.
  9. In your opinion, how are they able to get footage of them, when they are so rare, or are they still more plentiful than big cats?
  10. That leads me to this question. Probably talked about before, but how many true Scottish wildcats are left in the Country?
  11. Think there are only about 50 individuals left in the wild.
  12. Hard to mistake, no matter the colour lad. Unless the footage is of the grainy, out of focus type
  13. You'd have to prove that they exist, before you could ever get them protected. This must bring conflict to the big cat community. Some hiding locations and evidence, whilst others are seeking protection?
  14. Feck all will happen. They can't even get one to pass anywhere near a trail cam, never mind a trap. As for guns, they wouldn't know where to start. One thing I don't get, is why these enthusiasts want them protected. Feckin alien species. No benefit to the countryside. They'd make a nice wall hanger mind.
  15. Nothings black and white when it comes to nature lad. Maybe there are several factors including the rise in Otter numbers, in your part of the world.
  16. Interesting read on the subject Just a moment... ONLINELIBRARY.WILEY.COM
  17. Difference is, we've always had big numbers of otters in Ireland compared to the UK. Mink have been living along side them for the last sixty years or more, with little drop in numbers. Admittedly mink numbers do seem to be down the last two or three years here, but don't think that couldn't be because of otters.
  18. They seem to have little or no effect on the mink here. Where you find mink tracks, you'll probably find Otter too.
  19. Without even looking at the video. The width of the white line, tells you all you need to know
  20. Lads where do I get this dvd, and how much?
  21. Yes, either that or mice. Mice can make a hell of a racket, for their size. Check to see if any of the PB is being taken from the rat traps. I keep rat and mouse traps set in attic all year round.
