Simon Whitehead's Christmas Offering :)
EDDIE B replied to heritage's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Whats this thread about again? -
Probably hit it with his leg rather than his neck! Snare might be set too low!
-
But if you want to load the snare 1x 19 is much better............i'd buy from USA if i were looking at getting that much gear....JMHO... I have to agree with J Darcy on this one! Fair enough, you would save money making your own snare parts, but not everyone has the time, ability, or tools to make their own swivels, locks e.t.c! Indeed, time alone is a major factor in just sourcing components in the UK, apart from those which can be purchased from UK online trapping/snaring supplies! So i too would buy from USA, when needing that much gear! Maybe go down the other route when you have time, an

Especially if your thinking of getting chickens yourself! If not, you'll probably end up being put on rifle duty on a daily basis by herself! :-)

EDDIE B replied to davey869's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control

Anyone In West Sussex/surrey Trapping Mink?
EDDIE B replied to davey869's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
There are no mink farms in the UK; they were outlawed by BLiar. Sorry forgot that! Would it be possible to buy from one over here I wonder! -
Anyone In West Sussex/surrey Trapping Mink?
EDDIE B replied to davey869's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Why not go to a mink farm and buy a kit off them next summer! Think that's the way to go! If I were to buy a ferret, I'd go for a kit every time, for obvious reasons! Same applies IMO! -
Hard to see those prints, but look's too big for mink, thinking Marten or fox myself!
-
Buy the traps yourself and you'll get your money back in no time! If the landowner has to buy the traps, he may as well trap them as well!

Live Trapping Squirrels
EDDIE B replied to Coursing mad 24's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Even despatching with the air rifle, you need a second pellet the odd time! -
That indeed is a very good price for bmi 110's lad! But to buy direct from the company, you'd have to fly over there to get them, as you probably know! I too have used many brands of body grips, and to say that cheaper brands are as good as bmi, is not true IMO! Indeed, I believe bmi are second only to Canadian brands, but that's just my opinion!
-
Don't think you'd get the BMI's for that money in the State's lad! You'd get other brands at that price maybe, and if you ever handled one, you'd know why!

16 inch will do the job! The further in ya like to have your trap, the longer you need the tunnel to be!
-
No need to worry about Otters! Lott's of them on the the rivers I trap, and never caught one in kill traps! An Otter is a large animal, keep your tunnel small and narrow the entrance! Even if one did get a foot caught, it'd shake it off like a mouse trap on your finger! On Glenn Waters mink trapping video, he tells how an Otter kept setting off his traps, and proceed to take the bait! Only way he could keep him from setting off the traps, was to stop using bait! Now maybe there's a small chance of catching Otter kits during the summer, ( I don't trap during the Summer months

Well if your intending to dye/ paint them, then yes! Well thats what I do! Heard plenty on here though, that say they use them straight outa the box!

A Great Deal On Genuine Mk4 & 6 Fenns .......
EDDIE B replied to socks's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Fenn's are plenty strong enough for any legal quarry, so anything stronger ain't that beneficial IMO! Now if the Solway was cheaper, or lasted longer, then that would make a difference! I have both Fenn and Solway, and don't see a lot of difference between the two! Saying that, I haven't studied them much, just know they both do the job! -
Had that happen a few times over the years! Lol!
-
What about live cage traps in the garden rather than the loft! Take them away and dispatch, and tell them your relocating! Everybody's happy!

Was their a Guinea pig in the classroom at one stage? :-)

Traps under water!

Welcome aboard Rocky65! I take it your trapping season starts soon, you must be looking forward to getting out, and setting some traps! There is no trapping season over here! As said already, most trapping done in this part of the world, is done to keep problem species in check! When it comes to gray and red squirrel, unfortunately there is no natural ballance occurring here, and red squirrel numbers are very low, and grays are everywhere! Therefore, we must trap gray squirrel all year round, to try and reduce numbers,! Or ideally, eradicate them altogether! No hope of that I'm afraid! Er
