  1. Lot of lads in the USA use something similar to what your using i think, except their using fishing line as a trip wire!
  2. I have equal success with both fenns, and BG! Now I'm using them in baited pockets for mink, but catch loads of rats with them too! I find bending the trigger wires into a circular shape is the job, and increases catch rates significantly! Even catch mice from time to time with them!
  3. I suppose if you made a tunnel out a chicken wire, and then cover with branches, it'd pass!
  4. You mean a killer clip? They'll do the job no bother! Drill the hole in the centre larger, to fit a decent screw, and screw to tree! Also two nails placed the right distance apart, will work just as well! Another method is a piece of lath cut to the proper width, works also!
  5. Got seven on the trot in this location last year, but never two at a time! I actually have four traps set here, to try and ensure I have working traps waiting for the next mink that comes along! Between rising water levels, and rats clogging up the traps, its hard keep them working!
  6. It would work well if placed on a ledge or beam IMO! Rats e.t.c would drop off instead of pilling up at trap!
  7. Well after a few blank days with not even a rat in the traps, I had another good morning this morning! No not a trebble, but another double in the same location! Caught the third mink in a little drain about 200 yards down the road from this little river! The river rose a nice bit over night, so maybe thats why the mink were on the move!
  8. Kania is probably the best option for someone with little knowledge of traps and trapping IMO!
  9. Well not a dye, but I'm trying Rustoleum spray paint this year! Matt Black and Green! Getting very popular in the USA, especially with water sets!
  10. Had a nice double on the river this morning! Took 1 with a fenn, and other with a bodygrip!
  11. Well lads, looks like we're in for a nippy one! http://www.express.co.uk/news/nature/520672/Winter-weather-2014-UK-forecast-cold-snow-November Wonder if its all hype, or do we need to batten down the hatches! Global warming is surely to blame!
  12. Two small lad, buy a proper mink cage trap, or your wastin your time!
  13. O I know that Phil, not my photo! :-) Just one I found with pan on it! Thanks for the heads up on helping reduce cost!
  14. You may well be right, but they do look a neat job! I honestly don't think their worth the money either way, especially if they dont perform well!
  15. Yea seen these before, easy install, but like timber, used in conjunction with the trap wires, they sit up an inch or more high from the base of the trap when set! I'm looking for a pan which sits closer to ground level! IMO it should reduce trap avoidance! Jesus im a Choosey f****r! Lol Anyway, sorry for drifting off OP As far as i'm aware the metal coni-pans will be the lowest you can get. To get any lower you'd have to bend the triggers back on themselves. What exactly are you after? I don't think you're going to find what you're looking for....the coni-pans work well, but they do

  17. Yea I'm gonna have a go at making some pans, its just I haven't much spare time lately! Although the timber/mesh pans work, and are easy install, I'm looking for a sturdier, lower profile, steel pan which will last! I have a plan in my head of what I want, and its nothing complicated, just need get a spare hour or two in the shed! I have an idea
  18. Did you buy online or actually in Canada? As I said, was just my experience with couple of places online! Was looking for soft touch conibear pans, and the two places I found that supplied them asked for licence number! Not sure if was essential, but my mate couldn't purchase in store, ( three different stores) without licence! I gave up on purchasing the pans after, because I was quoted 38 Canadian dollars shipping for half a dozen! (Can't be got in the USA)
  19. So much wiser now ! Thanks for enlightening me. Does this count for all Canadian provinces ? One lives in the Yukon, the other in BC That I don't know lad! I even notice that on a couple of online stores, that they ask for licence number on order form! Not saying all stores, or online stores are this way, just my experience of them! Surely a way round it!
  20. I asked a friend who was on holiday's in Canada to get me a couple of Belisle 110's for me, and bring them home with him! He went to three different stores, and they all said the same thing! You have to produce a trapping licence to purchase traps! I ended up getting them shipped from the USA after, and turned out pricey enough!
  21. Those traps are a bit pricey to say the least, well from that website anyway! Is it true that the cost of shipping from Canada is ridiculous? I hear its much more expensive than shipping from the USA!
  22. What make of trap is it lad? Did you buy it? Those Canadian's make some powerful traps!
  23. I think anyone who leaves a dog in the same room as a baby, is a bad owner! Don't care what breed of dog it is! I'd rather run the risk of insulting someone by asking, kindly leave the dog outside, than risk harm to a child!
  24. Around three to three and a half pounds, I recon!
