Hope all is well with you Martin. Has that lad come out of his coma yet? cheers Callum

I'd go with a dip - it type backdrop with a shooter that's plainly visible looking like he / she is aiming down a rifle that's invisible against the backdrop. Would be as easy as taking a photo of someone in a shooting stance and then removing the gun altogether with Photoshop. Alternatively the gun could be made so opaque that you could just make it out therefore giving the image that your cammo is so good as to make the gun invisible. downside to this would be if people started moaning bout false advertising specially if you used the first idea lol cheers Callum

the British military are far more professional(utter Bollocks) you would not believe some of the things we did to the Argies in the Falklands i know i was there 22 bat royal marines D comp under LT Keith Mills treating your enemy like shit goes on in all forms and ranks and civilisations and it always will the problem here is that some one has filmed it and shown it. paul Don't get offended by this mate but after having read your post (quoted above) it reminded me of a topic l had read last year on proffessions (see here) where two l believe ex military lads believed you were faking

do you zero like that because if you dont that could cause a POI change because of the vibrations changing on discharge I do zero like that, l found a rock on the moor that's a perfect rifle rest  cheers Callum

I guess its time to re-check my rifle then just to make sure that its still on zero. I got as close as 150 yards to them before the crofts level above sea drops from 60 - 70 yards above sea level to 10 yards. When the sea gets stormy the waves come right on over and flood the bottom of the croft. I'm not sure if l fluffed the shot as l always try to fire my gun on a slightly angled piece of ground thereby letting the front half of the gun sit on the bi pod and the rear stock lying on the ground to give me the steadiest shot possible if that makes any sense. Thanks for the info on shooting into

To be honest the powers that be won't do a thing, The Scottish Environment minister is ex LACS and says that they are part of the environment and that we should get used to them and is trying to get everyone to adopt a goose scaring policy which is not fixing the problem but passing it on... cheers Callum

The Greylag are the geese l shoot as they stopped migrating and made the Hebrides their home for the last 10 - 15 years. They are a well known problem as my cousin found out 5 or so years back when he lost 60% of his crop to them. I shoot them between 1st Sept - Jan 31st as they are a menace to agricultural and crop land due to them pulling the roots as well as the grass as well as the fact excrement is highly acidic which can cause problems for the regrowth of grass on land that they have been on. At the last count the population was 16,000 but as the meat cannot be sold on it deters people f

l phoned the chief firearms officer and explained to him what l was gonna shoot and if it was worth putting in an application for a centre fire rifle as l did not want to apply for it if l was not going to get it. I was originally applying for just .22 rim fire as l had inherited a gun and explained l wanted a .223 and he tried to talk me down to a .17 hmr but l explained to him that l had seen geese shot with one on youtube and that l did not feel that this was a powerful enough calibre and that the bullets were too small as the geese were still flapping away in this video (which has since be

After having managed to get within 150 yards today of a flock of over 40 geese l settled down take a shot at one that l had selected only to notice the bullet splash into a largish puddle behind the goose l was aiming at. My zero has been fine the last few times l took the gun out but having noticed l was shooting directly into the wind I'm thinking its quiet possible that the wind could cause the bullet to rise. If l remember my Physics 101 correctly is it not possible that the wind could cause the bullet to rise or fall as the bullet is speeding into it. What do you guys reckon? cheers C

Been there done that last year. Last year l had to go cold turkey on the hunting life for 3 months... I know know it was really difficult but it was the only way and all games had to be put aside as well. when college was over l was 91 pages of topics behind in the General Talk section, 15 pages of topics behind in the Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns section and 7 pages of topics behind in the Reloading, Optics, Ammunition & Accessories and the Deer Stalking forum a piece and can say that l caught all that up in a week of furiously "studying" The Hunting Life when college was finished!

How was your 2011 deer season
mangy1983 replied to Canadian Black Bears's topic in Deer Stalking & Management
Can't hunt 24/7 mate, its against the law to hunt them in the dark. I think its one hour after dawn and one hour after dusk. atb Callum -

I'm really starting to wonder if it is a problem with the scope. For example l once bought of eBay a 10 - 40 x 56 Tasco "Rifle" scope and fitted it to my air rifle and on having adjusted it to lower the pellet impact it was still hitting the target at about 8 inches high. On reading the scopes instructions l realised that the scope was specifically for full bore rifles and the minimum zero was 100 yards. I got around this by placing a sliver of aluminium under the scopes rear scope clamp to raise the scope at the back and it worked perfectly. I have never seen this occur since then but that wa

Since l received my FAC nearly 2 years ago (Where has the time gone) l speak quiet often with my dad about guns and anyone else of my dads friends who'll listen and more than once its been mentioned that there could be a lot of unregistered guns on the island lying up in peoples attics unknowingly. A lot of these they reckon would have been from servicemen coming back from the war. A mate of mine was telling me that a work colleagues father had passed away and having inherited his house had been clearing the loft and come across a gun but not knowing what to do with it didn't even know wh

Keep your expectations of her up mate as she never apologized! I read about 400 odd posts between her photo and what she wrote today on Facebook and its good to see that 99% of the posts were sensible and more importantly backing her! Here is what she wrote: Two issues have arisen, which I think I ought to address; The first relates to the below post of a photograph to accompany a recipe for Game Terrine. This page is an information outlet for food-related topics only and I have always tried to include information relating to the recipes or events featured, both to promote them an
