  1. Just a thought mate but instead of manually attaching your advert under your posts you could attach it one time in your signature in your profile and it will automatically appear under your posts. Gotta be easier than manually attaching them every time. hope this helps Ps to the OP that looks a cracking doe! cheers Callum
  2. Also Google reads the threads to pick up keywords so that the ads displayed on each thread is targeted to the content of the thread. cheers Callum
  3. A mate just told me about it, dunno how that came about! cheers Callum
  4. Google the topic name and look at the first result!
  5. On a more humorous note watch this video: http://m.stv.tv/news/scotland/286149-omg-trampoline-storm-video-becomes-internet-hit/
  6. Thank goodness just got the power back, been off for 2 hours but its times like this you are glad that you have a laptop and 100's of DVDs to watch. The maximum recorded by the weather station close to me was 97mph mean speed with 101mph gusts but its easing off now!

  10. wonder what happened to them. ill do a colombo and say one fell in the sea and the other two rushed out to save him,and they got into difficulty and all drowned. Thats not what l reckon happened at all mate, I only learnt from father this year that my own great great uncle was one of the labourers building the lighthouse. There are 2 stories in local folklore, one was that the body of one of the keepers bodies was seen floating off St Kilda but that the weather was too rough to launch a boat to retrieve it. The body in question was wearing the distinctive navy coloured oils skins that
  11. This mystery literally occurred on my doorstep, one of the missing lighthouse keepers houses is 8 houses or so away: THOUGH three men dwell on Flannan Isle To keep the lamp alight, As we steer'd under the lee, we caught No glimmer through the night! A passing ship at dawn had brought The news; and quickly we set sail, To find out what strange thing might all The keepers of the deep-sea light. The winter day broke blue and bright, With glancing sun and glancing spray, As o'er the swell our boat made way, As gallant as a gull in flight. But, as we near'd the lone
  12. I think some of the best poems are ones that are close to your heart such as this one: Four long years the storm did rage, we lost so many men So few survived, so many more will never come home again Versaille, the Somme and Jutland too, such sacrifice was paid At last the end, exhausted peace for which the world had prayed T'was time to send the boys back home, the few who had survived Mothers and wives with aching hearts waiting for them to arrive The island men were worn and sore and eager to get home Years end at hand they caught a ship across the Minch's foam If
  13. I have watched the segment a few times, at first l thought why were people getting annoyed by it but the more l watch it the more l think he should have stuck with the news story and not gone off on a tangent. There's a big campaign through the Hebrides at the moment to have the program pulled or at least to get a personal apology froj him to Liam's family neither of which l think will be successful because The Wright Stuff hasn't been renewed for next year. cheers Callum
  14. Did anybody see the tv program the Wright Stuff on channel 5 on the 6th December? The programs host and panel were making joke upon joke over the death of a 16 year old boy on the Isle of Lewis and the way they casually read the article and joked about it was pretty horrendous. They did not treat the article with the seriousness it deserved and just treated it as if it was a big joke to them. Edited as l just found a video of it on YouTube as seen below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRGZwHLRVsA&feature=youtu.be cheers Callum
  15. Nah all white locals for as long as l remember behind and in front of the bar! cheers Callum
  16. hey callum they caught anyone for killing that lad on the island?first murder in 40year eh.the locals will be going spare. Not yet mate, Don't know why but they're being real secretive about how he died and its been over a week now since they found his body. Usually when reading news in the paper about murders occurring on the mainland its one of the first things mentioned. cheers Callum
  17. I use this website to watch films online fore free http://www.watchfreemovies.ch/. Just make sure that you have divx codecs installed and be careful of some of the cunningly placed ads. Some of the movie links do some of the subscribe first crap though but you will soon learn which ones to avoid them. cheers Callum
  18. Yes I'd imagine the metal detector would be going off constantly! cheers Callum
  19. I have always wondered what it would be like to use a mine detector on one of the d-day beaches but I'm sure something like that would be illegal in respect to the dead. cheers Callum

    Linux

On Fedora 16 now - slightly less stable than F14, but nonetheless very good. Still got windows on the laptop, but not used it in over 12 months. No background in IT, but found Fedora straight forward enough to install and use. Well worth the effort for the (free) superior performance and software. Where is a good place to buy decent 32 bit laptops from ? Doesn't seem to be many available any more. I would give ebay a try mate, usually a good deal to be found there cheers Callum
  21. Have you had a look on http://www.guntrader.co.uk/? cheers Callum

I'd never heard of Mint until you mentioned it. It looks really polished from the videos on Youtube. I have so far played around with Linux Debian and Linux Fedora and l like them both. Its just a pity that Photoshop does'nt support Linux and lm not 100% if most commercial games support it but for everyday computer use l would switchover to Linux in a heartbeat! cheers Callum

    Linux

I installed it on an old machine and it is a lot less intensive on a computers hardware than Windows and it boots up a lot faster as well. I run Apache on mine as well together with Webmin and Phpmyadmin. As you say all these software are very impressive especially as they are open source and free. It is a well known fact that a lot of the features that were added to Windows Vista and 7 were copied from Linux . Just of the top of my head the aero feature cheers Callum

    Linux

I went with Fedora 16 but l have heard it is not as user friendly as some of the other versions. I also installed both the Gnome 3 and Kde desktops and l love the fact that you can select which version of desktop to use when logging in. Kde desktop mimics Ms Windows desktop as much as possible to help new users as much as possible in getting used to navigate and get used to the operating system. cheers Callum
