  1. Looks pretty dodgy to me. Could'nt see the model on Tasco's own website, nor could I find it for sale in any reputable shops. Usually a sure sign of a fake. Counterfeit scopes are a big thing on Ebay these days especially from Asia and although the scopes might look like the real thing they don't normally last long.
  2. I inherited a Winchester Model 63 last year just a pity its being kept in storage till l get my FAC. Am hoping to add an old model 70 to my collection as well eventually
  3. Just out of interest where were these photos taken? Cheers Callum
  4. I had exactly the same problem were l stay in Scotland. Geese are becoming a huge problem here and I wanted to give my neighbours and anyone in the village who has problems with them the opportunity of me shooting them. But the little table on the FAC application form does'nt give you much space. I got round this after checking in with my local firearms dept by putting village crofts and common grazings into my application form and getting my village clerk to authorise it. Now if anyone in my village wants my services I only need a written letter from each of them authorising me to shoot o
  5. brilliant last thing l expected when l saw the topic title!
  6. Im a wee bit premature with my vote but hopefull that will be sorted in the next 2 weeks:thumbs-up:
  7. I'm waiting for my application to get processed as well, really slow process. Its been over 2 months since l first handed in my application and what a chore. I phoned northern constabulary firearms dep after 2 weeks to see how my application was going. They told me that they were waiting for the referee forms to come back to them. Never knew anything about it cos my local plod only gave me my own application form when l asked them for a fire arms application Then 1 of my referees forgot for two weeks to fill in their referee forms which cost me another 2 weeks. Then l had to wait for the
  8. cool allways fancied one to see what goes on round my area at night
  9. If my license comes back before Xmas gona buy myself a brand new .223 Tikka T3 Lite Stainless. Mmmmmmmmmm can't wait.
  10. lol same thing was aked of me last night followed by a, "you seem like a pretty decent guy so no problems in granting your ticket". Just got to wait for the local plod 2 pass the land for a .223 centerfire.
  11. U gotta keep on pestering them! Thats the answer, regular police constable for my area is on holiday till the 25th of December but started pestering them last week plus the fact we don't have a dedicated feo. The police constables on the island are trained to do the checking. Guess that speeds thing along too.
  12. thanks for your reply Mr_Logic, I spoke with my areas firearms department chief today as l would prefer to get accepted on my first try rather than waste time by getting rejected. He was fine with me shooting geese with the .223 calibre as long as the land is passed for the calibre and l have 2 policemen coming round tomorrow to check it.
  13. Thanks for the replies guys hope my feo sees it that way as there does not seem to be much info on the subject based on the amount of search results l get through googling it. I guess sometimes it is best to reach out to the shooting community to see every ones views are on this.
  14. Just some articles I have found on the problem: http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:Qt-HRJscAQ8J:cci.scot.nhs.uk/Resource/Doc/291204/0089747.pdf+scottish+license+for+greylag+goose+hunting&hl=en&gl=uk&sig=AHIEtbRRJQaJkTr-XM7HUOL5lHBqwPqHyA http://www.heraldscotland.com/menace-of-the-uist-greylag-goose-1.845016 oh and a hunting article http://www.shootinggazette.co.uk/shootfeatures/169484/Greylag_goose_shooting.html ps thanks for all the comments guys
  15. Hi there and thanks for your info Decker, there are a few people with shotguns shooting geese in the villages surrounding mine but the geese are a well known problem here so licenses are quite easy to get. The problem is that the few people that do have the licenses don't go anywhere near their bag limit quota for a year and so the problem just keeps getting worse plus the fact that the geese are present all year round creating a mess
  16. Hi there and thanks for replying. It would mainly be for control measures as greylag geese have become settled were l stay in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland and don't migrate any more and are present all over the place in large numbers.
  17. Hi there does anybody out there know if it is legal to shoot geese with a centerfire and if so what would be a decent calibre for this. I am hoping to go for the .223 calibre as ammo is cheaper but am not sure if my feo would accommodate this. thanks callum
