If you get a return rate of 40% your doing well on pheasant very well on pats. Andy he aint shootin he is flying hawks, you wont get any where near a 40 percent return, it dont sond the best ground top release on, id just fly what was there, too many about aint going to help the bird....

just what i was thinking thurso.... but if its just a falconry venture you wouldnt need many, a bit more info is needed, ie how much ground do you have, what sort of ground is it, how many days a week would you go out, so just like your boss we need more info to be of much help.. but at a stab in the dark id say 100 to 200 per 100 acre, i know its only one or two per acre but falconry aint about the numbers killed its about the flight..

I've had this problem with a few local " keepers " round my way. They both threatened to shoot my dogs and invited I them to do exactly that to see what would happen. They both pussied out when told the score. I will however say this. It is usually always the syndicate shoot keepers/helpers who get on their high horse whining on about their poxy 1000 birds they put down ! Part time country squires and utter pricks ! I can tell from your post that you are obviously anti-keeper and that is up to you but the "poxy" 1000 birds that you mention could set somebody back between 3000/4000 pounds

alot of sense posted here, well done guys ..... would be worth dippin the sheep your self if your 100 percent committed to helping the grouse, mega work and mega money is needed and it can all be turned upside down by a week of bad weather at the wrong time...deer to , (sorry stalkers) shoot them all on site, no ifs no buts... and yes its been a poor season up here again this year, but imo its like fashion, it swings in big circles... -
They do when theres something at home i like your answer... but whats with the sitting down on the dig?? and only after a foot too... lol... good going keep at um

video no longer available apparently ???

fair one.. on the shoots i pickup at theres a couple that try both and end up looking like fools. if your dog can do it thats great but alot of dogs struggle to know when to stay at heel to be set out and when to fan out themselves. i see where your coming from, picking up dogs out beating have a tendency to follow a line right to the flushing point or pegging rather than flushing a bird thats sitting tight.. but there are handlers / dogs that do both, a do them well..

got my veiws to a t there ....

so from the ads at the bottom of your posts I'm guessing your closely linked to pest control??? if so when you see a client about rats or Roach's in a restaurant you tell them you can do the job but you will be leaving some kicking about as you believe in conservation in all things?????????? of have i got this wrong ????????? are you a keeper or are you at college leaning keepering techniques, no mate not at collage, didnt go to collage to be taught by keepers who either didnt make the grade in the real world or just couldnt hack the work, and took the easy route in becomeing a l

good going, we aint started properly here yet, few cubbing days, only one pushed to ground. huntsman rang, 2 hour round trip, and he could have dug it out with his horn.but thats the way it goes some times.. you lucky get...... -
That's what I was getting at. I don't know where you stand with accidental non-target catches. For instance it is illegal to set spring traps in rabbit holes if there are known to be Polecats present. Do they mean present in the county or the wood you are working in? How do you establish whether they are there or not? There are a lot of grey areas in trapping legislation but I would suggest that if your targets were weasels and stoats then your tunnel entrance should be set to restrict hedghogs, polecats and other non-targets. As we all know gamekeepers have traditionally killed any

Loads of keepers have to run traps all year , MARCH, APRIL,MAY, IF DONE RIGHT STOATS, WEASELS, HEADGE PIGS, , THE ODD RAT AND SQIRRELLS THE REST OF THE YEAR, MOORLAND KEEPERS MAY KEEP THEM RUNNING , WASTE OF TIME FOR A LOWLAND KEEPER AFTER MAY, AS TO BUSY REARING KEEP SNARS GOING THRU THE SUMMER , DEPENDS HOW YOU BEEN TAUGHT THOU I SUPPOSE what you on about, not all low ground keepers rear there birds... and on the rounds doing your poults id dare bet there is 50 or more sites you could set fenns where you could check them with out any extra time being added, but as i have a phes and p

smoked for 15 year, until 8 days ago, and still going strong, no patchs no pills no feck all.. and i smoked 20 a day .. its all in the head.....

some as has been said do it out of frustration, others just do it through excitment, personally id be more worryed if it didnt give tounge when in hot pursuit..

i take it you dont live in the country I do actually, but does that mean I should kill everything that I can, just because it's on the vermin list? Never heard of a general license? I get enough enjoyment out of hunting food for myself or my animals, or taking care of vermin that need taking care of. I don't feel the need to just go out, and kill for the sake of killing. Jog on.... so what vemin needs taking care of ??? why shoot a fox but not a mustalid ?? things get on the vermin list because it is for the good of the country side in general to keep ther

until you do keep one you wont ever know how much you foget . fact

there is always demand for it, yes we get peanuts for it but it wiil go, game dealers are making a killin exporting it to places like europe, there is a good few italians that come up around here every year, all game from a bunnie to a goose is put in a container and sent back to italy, the money they make covers the majority of there two weeks sport...

at this time of year you will with out fail have game dealers travelling the lenght and breth of the land to pick up pheashants.... surely there some round you
