  1. The cost of deploying our armed forces in these third world dumps must have been a large percentage of the budget though which is probably why we had to scrap the harriers etc. If we had never bothered with those wars wouldn't our armed forces be healthier and better equipt? I would just like to see what exactly we have gained from all of this. I suspect once we pull out Afghanistan will turn in to a giant cluster f**k, Iraq is a giant cluster f**k already and god only know's what's happening in Libya. Have we weakened our ability to defend ourselves against threats from the big players ra
  2. Think the idea is to use kilner jars, and also pour melted butter or some kind of fat in after the meat so you get an airtight seal. I saw it first in one of those River Cottage programs but I can't find it on youtube. http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2009/oct/03/terrines-potted-meat-confit-recipes-hugh-fearnley-whittingstall http://thingsyourmotherwouldhavetoldyou.com/2013/11/13/potted-meats-and-chutneys/ http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kilner-Preserve-Tight-Storage-Litre/dp/B00237OFSQ/ref=pd_sxp_grid_i_0_0
  3. Well I agree but the way I see it having those pointless wars is partly responsible for wasting the budget which is why we are having to cut back. The Russians and Chinese must have been rubbing their hands when we went in to Afghanistan and Iraq
  4. Scot agreed I was in Libya days before it kicked off and got out just before thank god. I'd worked there for just over a year and the change near the end was amazing. There was more upward mobility and wage increases for many people. When I started working there I am not kidding you had to drive to the airport to get money out of an ATM, a year later there were cash points and restaurants everywhere. Lot of investment was coming in as well. I really didn't see what we gained from helping those fanatical maniacs take over the country.
  5. I've said before it's the 'defense' budget not the attack budget. I don't see what we gained from all the billions of pounds wasted on wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya and I don't feel we are safer as a result of them either. Yes they are wars to change the spheres of power but has it worked?
  6. I have a reciprocating saw which I used for my kindling. The crappy bits of wood I get for this doesn't justify a chainsaw as it's normally pallets and other stuff but a chainsaw would be handy every now and then. I borrowed my dads electric one adn found it not very good though.
  7. make sure you know where the cable is at all times Did that with some hedge cutters once, spent 20 minutes splicing the wires back together and then cut the cable again straight away
  8. Axe, saw or hammer (and maybe chizzle) is what I would do

  12. When I read the last threat I thought you'd put an extra zero on the figure by accident. I can't believe that many rats could live in one place
  13. It's hard to believe any sane person could watch her laying flowers of a fox carcass and not feel completely stupid
  14. Why are things more expensive, or is it that peoples wages have fallen?
  15. Fucksake Jon, try keeping it real pal, eh? In a zombie apocalypse there wont be any electricity...how are you going to charge the batteries of your ray gun
  16. In the past I've given my dog a meaty bone and let him work his way through it for a week or so, I figured that him gnawing away at it would be good for his teeth but that was when he was on kibble. How often do you give a new bone to them?
  17. My Gran was brilliant, she lived in the East End, run over by a bus and lost a leg when she was a teenager, lost her husband when my dad was only 3, worked her whole life and never complained about anything, never accepted benefits and lived to 90 years old. I'd love to be able to talk to her again, we named our 2nd daughter after her. I'd have liked to meet my grandad on my dad's side as well.
  18. Well I just pissed myself at that
  19. I know I have half of them in my front room
