  1. I'm joking phil, it just seemed a good idea to avoid davy's speech cos i read the first draft and its gonna take all afternoon... It'll feel like all week though lol
  2. So thats why you've no hair left...(couldn't resist the cheap shot!) Good film buddy, keep em coming! Cheers, wurz
  3. Thanks lads, and yeah davy, your right mate, it has been a while eh... Got some hunting pics to put up too, when I get time. Shame you had to work mate,i reckon you'll like it, although it might be a bit much for your noodle arms :-D If I take it to si's wedding maybe phil could take me to his permission, I could do a couple of hours pigeon shooting with him and only have to miss the best mans speech, chas might fancy coming too. And si... It has been very satisfying to do, next up is the pro sport with a tune and a fancy stock courtesy of dave hall, which should leave me with just ab
  4. Cheers for the kind comments chaps! Skot, youre right mate, thats why its got the 4q nickname, cos if you don't like it, well, 4q! Hi phil, so far I'm wel pleased with the barrel, its killed the muzzle flip pretty much. I would've thought it'd be great on a 90 since theyre a much weightier action than the (i think?) You can order them from hull cartridge, mine cost a oner with cocking link and the drift pin that holds it. The new cocking link didn't fit the cocking dog on the piston so you'd probably be as well to buy a new one of those as well (although you could just use the origina
  5. Won't take you long to get used to it mate, give it a couple of tins of pellets and you'll both be raring to get out.. Good luck with it, theyre cracking rifles Cheers, wurz
  6. hi lads, its been a while since i started a topic cos i've been unable to upload photos from my phone but thats changed at last so i thought (or hope!!) that this might be of interest to those guys like me, who like the idea of a tuned rifle with a fitted stock but dont want to pay out for one. some of you may know of my penchant for the mighty workhorse that is the HW80. i love these old school break barrels due to their accuracy, durability and build quality. what i dont like about them is that the comb on the stock is built for open sights,so its hard to maintain a consistant head posit
  7. Nice job mate! I quite like a camo stock meself... As to cheap but serviceable scopes, its well worth having a squint on the js. Ramsbottom website, their own range of scopes are all very reasonable, and punch well above their weight performance wise. Our own lighthunter, chas, has used one to great effect both for hunting and hft for some time now and sings its praises. I had one on my pro sport for a good while and found it excellent value for money. Cheers, wurz
  8. A stage 2 is always going to be better mate due to the extra work. After speaking to quite a few winners and champions at HFT this past 3 months it turns out that around 8 FPE to 10 FPE is the best power for accuracy using lead pellets. With more especially with a springer the recoil effects accuracy which a hunter would not really feel as they work on 2.5 cm kill zones or grouping inside a 2p where a HFT champion works to tolerances of less than 1.5 cm and needs the best from their rifle. All my springers are now either in 9s or low to middle 10s now less my HW35 which is about 11.3
  9. Alternatively, degrease it and clean it throughly then give it a quick spray with black car paint followed by a couple of coats of lacquer.
  10. Glad you enjoyed your day mate, I love doing the hft, I reckon its done loads to improve my shooting and its always a good crack. Nice 1!
  11. Glad you like it mate, and hope youre spared the problems some of the lads have had. Mines still going strong after two hard years of use, apart from a sheared bolt on the cocking linkage in the first week. Since then, no problems,a lot of dead squirrels, rabbits, pigeon and knockdown targets at hft and a big sh@+ eating grin on my face every time I shoot it, which I reckon's the point of owning it, really..
  12. Never trust the comics to give an honest review of anything! Having said that, whilst I agree with darryl re hawke scopes being better, I've had a couple of bsa scopes and they were alright for the price, and clear enough for most hunting, although not brilliant in low light.
  13. What a brilliant thing to do mate, nice one
  14. I feel some avatar changes are coming this way again
  15. cheers mate! Thats Wurz with his beloved HW80 Darryl Brilliant shots mate, youre the only person who's ever made me look good on a photo! Now about my wedding...
  16. Just seen them mate, theyre absolutely bang on, although I appear to look kinda like a p***y john darling lol
  17. When we did the southern hunters last year at iden ferns it was -5° and my pro sport was shooting more like a .177 than a .22. Same as barry's saying,i put it down to cold air being denser than hot air so therefore you get more in the cylinder than you would on a hot day. However, the pellet may travel faster on a hot day due to the hot air the pellets flying through would have less drag in it cos its less dense than normal. The temperatures affect on the grease in a springer will also affect it so theres quite a few variables to think about. As usual, the best way is to check zero when y
  18. What pianoman said.. Although, my daughter has recently started shooting and because she's neither big or strong, I got her an old 35 and cut the stock down a bit so it fits her properly. We found the 35 for just over a oner(just in case its a fad,i didn't want to pay out for a new rifle). Nice little gun, easily fettled and cos its an old hw built to last until her kids start shooting.
  19. Well I did suggest a long weekend in bangkok or amsterdam lab, but they didn't wanna go for it...
  20. No worries arky! I pm'd you my email addy so send me some pictures and I'm sure we can come to a mutual agreement mate.
