  1. just stick to the distance you are used to mate. i wish you a full bag.
  2. did the gull skin and gut the mole and then boil him for an hour after the marinade??
  3. great stuff lads. good to hear people getting what they want( on both sides). i wish you some good sport on your new land and atb in the new year.
  4. our dilemma of fereting or pigeons went the wrong way as to be expected.we only had two rabbits but the pigeon were flying like mad all day( and a macaw parrot, which crows don't seen to like??) oh well wed i'm after the grey ones and will probably be over run by bunnys. p.s. i picked up some new permission today too, about 20 acres( which lies between on one side and 400 on the other which i already have) if it keeps up i will have some very big blocks to walk around on. the chap is a shooting man who knows some of the family, small world atb all
  5. just to point out that pheasant living wild will belong to someone( meaning you will need permission on their land). you may have trouble finding a farmer who will let you shoot game( vermin being easier to get). your best bet would be to either join a syndicate or rent the shooting rights from the farmer on his land and start your own little shoot( releasing birds of your own). that sounds easy but i'm afraid its alot of work on your own, just finding some well structured land can be hard enough. atb bud.
  6. my mate bought one a couple of weeks ago and has tested it with a few different carts and has not had a jam yet, a cheap gun which is as new. perfect for pigeon, duck and geese. atb for the new year lads.
  7. are you thinking of getting rid of it per chance? my buddy would almost certainly be interested. atb for the new year lads/lassies.
  8. where are you? how much for a dog pup? pedigree? which lines? when are they ready to be picked up? good luck with the sale.
  9. defo a defficiancy, decent food will stop it. if he is a habitual then keep the yard clean for a while untill he stops it. worm him and all other dogs. good luck.
  10. not being funny but the dog should be in full hair now. as previously said poss a diet prob, a good vet will sort it out quite quickly. i had presumed the dog had been wormed but quite right to ask just in case. whats the crack with the dog now?
  11. is the pic from today? if there is no one home the liklyhood of a cut nose is slim if you are entering the dog then its best to have a dog with "know how" to run controll,if not you won't know if the dog is doing his job or not. good fun though isn't it bud? its great to see a young dog coming on. a good looking dog by the way.how is he bred? atb
  12. a proper wheel barrow does it too, then you have something to get all the pigeon off the field good luck
  13. just been on the blower to my buddy and we opted for a spot of ferreting instead. wed morning i'm out with my brother for pigeon though. good luck, let us know how it goes please. p.s. take a flask
  14. splendid looking little gun, a mate is after one like that( wouldn't mind one myself!!!) for his son. if you don't mind me asking how much did you pay for it? what make/model? atb for the new year.
  15. not sure what kind of budget you have bud. i have a hw 35 which will do the job for rabbits all day( up to 40-45m head shot). not sure what they cost now( around 250??). there are some good springers about used, pref from someone you know. you know what you are getting and that it shoots straight. good luck. let us know what you go for and how you get on with it please.
  16. i do hope you are not insinuating that you have also eaten a young fox cub? are you of eastern european heritage?
  17. as i stated in my post: " i think the problem here is more the case of firing .357 in .38 (or for the challenged) a higher powered through a lower specificated weapon. as such the little rant there is pointless. i would suggest you read the posts you are replying to properly. you are obviously oblivious to any advice given and quite happy to go against the general consensus of opinion. a weapon is tested at overpressure to ensure it functions at normal pressure safely.surely it must make sense that just because it can take the pressure once/twice or three times it MAY not do so o
  18. as they say " a fox will attend a funeral". well done bud. daytime shooting is alot more fun i think. atb in the new year.
  19. is the hair snapping? i take it you have not used any peroxide on her? the skin look ok? in short mate i'd get the vet to have a quick look. good luck and let us know how it goes please.
  20. make sure you cook them well, trichine( a wire worm) will be rife in animals which eat worms, slugs etc.( prob why not to eat the internal organs) i'm sure they will taste ok,just do the write up quickly
  21. i have always tried to use a caliber that is readily available due to ammo sourcing etc. i'm sure that other cal will do the job and will prob be very good. the drawbacks would put me off tbh. whatever you choose atb in the new year with it
  22. johnathan l. the case here is more one of putting .357 ammo in a .38 special weapon (which is not advisable and will not chamber). as anyone who has had any formal training with firearms will tell you" if its not stamped on the barrel you don't shoot it". everyone is entitled to an opinion here and may do as they please. if someone has no regard for their or my safety i would not wish to shoot anywhere near them. some of the chaps here have clearly alot more knowledge of reloading than me,the point they are making is in my eyes blindingly obvious.
  23. nice looking dogs doing some good hard work there mate whats the average weight of the ones in the pics? they all look to be over 100kg! and some good tusks there too( if the same as in europe where 2/3 are inside the jaw?). on a couple of the pics the dogs have ear holds is that something they have learned? lots of pack"stoppers" use this to draw them to a halt but soon let go when they learn they are at the wrong end ( i have worked boar with terriers and they tend to latch on anywhere the best holds have been the snout, balls, tail. obviously we need more dogs to cover). i hope to
