  1. if the only problem was the ammount of stool with the raw diet then you need to find a happy medium between raw and kibbel. sounds easier than it is i know.i give eggs, fish, offcuts of rabbit/geese etc(cooked) a bit of all sorts really.if the terrier and staffy seem to be a bit podgy then the lurcher gets his alone.this works for us. as above a good mix of fats, carbs ,proteins and veg hope it works out for you. atb
  2. with talk of castration at ten weeks i think the vet needs shooting( DO NOT TAKE THAT LITERALLY PLEASE). the vet wants to make some money. i would let the pup sort itself out(is it your only dog? if so try to get it with others as often and as soon as its jabbed up)well socialised dogs will show him his boudries(if necessary knock some sense into him). atb with the pup bud.
  3. i had the same with a fox terrier and my parson bitch. one day something clicked and they were out to kill each other to the point i had to throw them in the pond( about 2ft deep) to get them apart.after that there was no chance of having them antwhere near each other( if on the lead they would stare and when let loose even to work they would fly at each other) i had to get rid of a cracking foxl bitch and was gutted. having spoken to very experianced dog men who told me that two alfa bitches will rather kill each other than share territory i'm sure i did the right thing. i hope this is no
  4. as i have said in other threads previously. the aim of a responsible breeder should be to produce top class working dogs who are true to the breeding standard(whether pedigree or not).if the kennel club thinks to change the standard in a direction that does not suit work then stick to the "old standard" but breed healthy strong dogs( teeth, testis, eyes, feet, etc etc). the mentality of "it doesn't matter what they look like as long as they work" is the true destruction of any breed. faults as above cannot be positive input to working stock can they? if so why do the breeding standards( from ori
  5. my sentiments exactly i tend to be carefull with stuff i don't know much about(and thats a fair bit of stuff ). as mentioned the problem has never been relevant as the canal is a boundry to the shoot,we don't shoot feather over it. an interesting thread which seems could do with clarification. i'll see if i can find anything. atb
  6. from what i've read untill now the book would be worthwhile reading.i know i'd buy it! as i said in a previous post bud i'd think about the dvd/video too( maybe the book would spiral off from that)? atb
  7. a boat being a means of transportation and the canal being open to the public i would say it is a highway(waterway) and would underly the highway laws. i know that our shoot TREATS it as a highway. at the end of the day if people are walikg/using it shooting on or near it will/can cause bother that none of us need whether driven, ridden, sailed or flown if someone complains..................... well we all know the rig marol.
  8. somebody posted in the gundog section about not being allowed to take part in a course because he had a standard,he says its shit hot they will work and in germany they have the poodle pointer.
  9. as inmy post surely the canal itself would be seen as a public highway? atb
  10. good lad which one turned her?(persuasions). you can get a second hand shotgun cabinet quite cheap( £30-50) the application costs £40 i think. good luck and let us know how you get on
  11. i knew some 1 who used to own this x and it was a machine on foxe's and a realy good dog on rabbits, better feet than a greyhound turn better than a greyhound, faster than a whippet and more speed than a whippet, qwick off the mark and good pace when in full flight i carnt see the problem with the x the 1 i seen was a very fast and could turn on a penny as i understand the cross(lord knows i'm no expert ) but the "quick off the mark whippet" is crossed with the "top speed" greyhound to improve the allround "hunting style" plus the turning ability of the whippet and you have an a
  12. i would go with the foxes too. as for eating them the polish/russians (eastern block)will have a nibble at that type of thing! urggh.
  13. we have a canal running as a boundry to our shoot. we treat it as a "highway" in the sense of the law. beaters go along the tow path( if walking guns with dog the gun broken/unloaded).we do not shoot over the canal. i'm sure you could shoot from a boat IF no body was in any way disturbed by it. but i would not shoot from the car on a public road either. i have not looked into these matters so i may be wrong. a good post which may give a lot of us to think about cheers, waidmann.
  14. you will find it difficult toget on driven shoots or permission without being known to or by the lads that work it. the forestry commission in germany organize big days and need dogs( once again you stand more chance if they know or know of you). good luck
  15. thanks for that ned just curious as iv'e heard that roos can be pretty nasty. yours in sport. michael
  16. i would think a roo could do some damage to a dog too? do they put up a fight when caught?
  17. i have some from fjell raeven. they are top and have lasted about five years now, a bit grubby but work like new. atb
  18. thanks alot bud iv'e looked through this blokes(kids) posts and there seem to be quite a few like these( hemp fox nets are shite etc). a classic example of "clueless bid mouthery".i'm sure we have all met this kind of "person"( and have little or nothing to do with them. atb waidmann.
  19. NOT SURE ABOUT TWISTS AND STUFF BUT I THINK YOU WILL FIND THAT THE GECO ARE MADE BY RWS IN GERMANY. I HAD SOME IN 3006 AND THEY WERE FINE.
  20. sorry bud but you may have more luck in the livestock/dogs/animal section. you may need a price to avoid getting deleted. good luck with the sale mate. waidmann
  21. has anyone tried them yet? i saw the vid and came up with the badger issue too( they will pull too,i have caught them in a gin type trap in germany). atb waidmann
