  1. for anyone who wants to see the ban lifted. on facebook the ifaw have an add, "no return to cruel sports" and ask if you like this. click the cross at the top right and then select "misleading" when facebook asks "why you want to delete this add". if enough remove this it may be taken off by facebook. so do your own(if you dont have facebook then join!) AND POST TO ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS TO DO THE SAME. i find it genuinly offensive that the sport i love is being sold to kids and sheep as "cruel" whereas releasing a couple of thousand mink into the natural balance is heroic! WAIDMANN.
  2. i have yet to see a punt gun on a canal? this needs clearing up for all who have waterways(specificly canals). waidmann
  3. i would suggest that he would be within his rights to avoid damage to his property(the dog) to infringe on your rights using the minimum of necessary force to avoid damage being done,to the point of lethal force. the problem being: a, to have shot the dog it is unlikley that they were still fighting(were to some degree seperated) b,this is unlikeley to have been the minimum of force available(kick, stick, warning shot etc) as has been said was he on his permission? were there sheep/livestock in the field? is the dog known to be a fighter? very difficult without knowing the whole story
  4. where in telford [bANNED TEXT] i am on suttonhill randlay bud.
  5. "any attention given is a win to the dog" the most effective way is to tread lightly on the hind toes( as said in the above post) and not to shove/knee or say anything.if the "down" command is set then use that later. my dogs will jump up too and it does not bother me(sometimes a bummer when you have clean jeans on). a dog is capable of distinguishing when he can and cannot be boistrous. when i have a gun they should sit next to me or be at work and not trying to get affection. if the dog is not working then the gun is broken. just an oppinion
  6. its called doubling mate. take it to a gunsmith and let him sort it out for you. i bet it made you jump didn't it ? atb waidmann
  7. there are a large variety in slugs from solid shot(brenneke) to sabot loaded(which are accurate to 100m). they are a valuable aid when shooting driven boar but have a very bad reputation for richochet. BEAR IN MIND THAT SHOTGUN CARTS HAVE A DANGER ZONE OF 100M PER MM, THATS A LONG WAY WITH A SLUG!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. an excellant bit of research i could find very little (i'm not very good with the internet ) obviously more serious than we thought. a good idea to put any clarification in the pinned section(not many people involved in the debate, meaning to me that they have no oppinion to the matter and simply do not know). as said in the above post alot of canals around and this must affect alot of shoots/permissions(even when using catapults etc). a worthwhile thread waidmann
  9. cz 452american,.17hmr varmint.

  11. looks a good little wench. well put together, a tad light.by no means a minus point(as long as she uses her brain as well ) she will get in and be able to move fast. nice pic too. waidmann
  12. i hope the chap knows the difference between "not able to find" and "getting the run around" the fox knows the earth and is faster than the dog in alot of cases. only when the dog gets hold or outs him in a stop end...... i have found when going alone against the wind a dog which "does not find well" will bolt the fox very quickly.when going with a crew the fox knows you are there and will try its best to "stay in". not trying to teach anybody to suck eggs but this is often the cause for dogs "not finding" if they are not giving toungue on the scent how will you know???( this is the case wi
  13. i must agree with the lads who say the dogs get dirty, foxy, ratty etc but surely a good dog man will wash his dogs after fox and rat contact???????????????????????????????????? dirt dries off in the car and in the kitchen, only when fed and dry do the dogs come into the living area. a dog living in the house will sleep through the normal noise and people movementif his bed is out of the way( mine have a blanket in the kitchen and one in the living room). if a dog is sick from work then they should not be mauled by kids etc but thats common sense.as is the old proverb "let sleeping dogs
  14. with the young lurcher i train him a bit every day( retrieve and basic commands etc he is nearly five months) the terrier is up and running as far as the basics are concerned (10 months). i get out three or four times a week for a good long walk/hunting(bushing to gun, ferreting, rough shooting, beating etc). i take them everywhere i go so they can see all situations. at the age they are they fight for about 5 or six hours of the day instigated by both they have the run of the garden(and wreck that every day too). i'm happy they are getting enough exercise and both looking fit and healthy.
  15. i have always kept my dogs in the house,in the stables when at work for long days and nights) and it makes no differance to them at all. most dogs get cold if not working but iv'e yet to see a terrier or gundog freeze when working. i give them something to lie on when in a hide etc(and would do the same if kenneled). imho the bond is better when in the house, they know you better and you them. mine are spoiled rotten (food wise and as far as attention goes) and work fine(the two i have now are still young 9 and 5 months). whatever suits you best bud. i would however get them house traine
  16. if in doubt mate then ask a moderator, maybe e-mail them for approval. little belters waidmann
  17. splendid news, them pigeon are going to get it now
  18. practice is the key bud, better if someone can stand behind you who can tell you where you are going wrong, once that is cracked you are on the way thats when it gets real fun,the confidence makes you shoot better. the best of luck and keep at the corvids waidmann
  19. it seems to be commonplace in west mercia for new application. even though i had a german licence for along time and used big boys calibers i had this condition on my rimfire! its being taken off now. it says on the ticket"accomanied by an experianced rifle shooter",would that be a soldier? some one who has shot for over 20 years? someone who has the european weapons proficiancy for long and short(rifle and hand/sidearms)i'm all of these and must have my hand held? what the heck, try not to get a condidtion but if there is no way around it get as much down the barrel as poss over a coupl
  20. nice looking dogs mate did you import them or buy them over there? how is the breeding? i bet they love the pigs waidmann
  21. i'm better with european law to be honest bud, common sense tells me that they can't lift him for poaching in the quarry unless it is beyond doubt that it was him that they saw there(and that they saw him pick the quarry up there).which would be very difficult to do(as anyone who has done any kind of surveilance work will appreciate). it needs to be proven, not just supposed that he got them there( not on the other side of the hedge, from the butchers or from the guy next door after walking the dogs) otherwise they will have trouble with the cps ( witness/proof etc). it may be worth asking t
  22. pathetic really, rapists and muggers get off lighter.
  23. if you do not have permission(reasonable grounds) for killing anything you are breaking the law.
  24. if they did not "pick him up" at the quarry how can they know where he got them?( the fact that he was at the quarry cannot be taken as fact that he "poached" them there,if he had no permision to be there thats what it is) and so not being able to say where he got them,no one(a specific land owner) can prosecute him for poaching. they can do him for killing the rabbits without reasonable grounds, but i wouln't tell them that good luck.
