  1. blimey mate, so you didnt mind a bit of wasted venison? 85% of something is allways better than 100% of nothing RH ..........nothing to do with me mate, just what I have seen! I wood sooner let it live to run another day than to be only able to eat 85% of it ;)I dont want to waste any, but if your after numbers than it doesnt matter where it grabs, if it will grab anywhere than there will be more deer caught in the season. Either way i would sooner see one caught with style and killed quickly than 10 getting pulled down by their arse, getting ripped into david
  2. Anything thats capeable and willing to take big deer single handed, sika and fallow. Big, powerfull, fast, bideable, smart, game and full of heart. As long as it trys and keeps going when the odds are backing up against it. Its got to want to do its job and do it in style. It must show no fear and never back down. And finally it must be able to end it fast and efficently and allways go for the neck. I dont want a bum chewer. David
  3. Got the video yet lads? I just want to see mistys catch again. David
  4. :welcomeani: Thats one fine looking dog What percentages are in him? David
  5. I was told that fox and rabbits have a natural instinct to go to ground when there is smoke like from a forest fire. So i would of thought if you smoked an earth it would just push the fox deeper and stop it from bolting? David
  6. Looking good mate, did you get a dig? Hopefully it was a big strong buck rabbit  David
  7. Yeah he has took me out And it was excellent Thanks mate David
  8. It wasn't the most productive night but it was still good fun, all the action was in the first 10 minuits. We only really had 2 real runs between us, After that it was a couple of really long slips at rabbits sat along the hedgerows. Still it was good to be out. David
  9. Sorry to hear that mate, have you got any pics of her? Im very interested in this cross, iv got a 4 month old pup of the same breeding. Did the vet say if she will make a full recovery and be able to work after? I would start with road walking to build her up, little and often at first and slowly increase the amount. Then i would start trotting her at the side of a bike for a couple of weeks. Dont rush it and give it time. Touch wood she should be ok for some work next season David
  10. Only just found the thread again, Thanks lee Im really happy with her, she will be perfect for the job you bred her for Nice one paul Im going to get my pup in the forest on sunday, im going to get her running free up there as regular as possible. Its abit hair raiseing to see her at full tilt dodgeing trees and ditches, but it can only help and she loves it. She goes mad for squirrels, she tryed to get down a fox hole the other day when i had her out on a local country park, If she was a couple of inches smaller she would of been down it. She was 20 inch to the shoulders on the day i took
  11. Tumblers arn't a strain of dog, I was told its just an old name used to describe a lurcher cross lurcher, normally broken coated that can take tumbles and that with less chance of getting injured. Like say a collie/grey cross deerhound/grey with maybe a touck of bedlington, Something strongly built with good feet and coat. I dont really know if this is true, its just what i was told a long time ago when i was looking into getting my first lurcher. David
  12. Mint looking pup mate, is it out of remus? Dvaid

  15. Looking very good mate How tall is he now? Bracken is 20 inch to the shoulders. I really like the look of your pup he looks very strongly built. I cant wait to see them both run, hopefully get a run or 2 with them doubled up on one of the big fellas All the best David
  16. Simmo let me know if you have any recent pics of your pup David
  17. Here she is at 16 weeks and 3 days Im really looking forward to working her, hopefully over many seasons David
  18. Iv got permision to use an airdale dog as stud, i was thinking of putting it over one of my salukigrey/whippet bitches next spring. Its a kc dog and is not a worker as such but iv had it out in the day and its straight into every bit of cover searching for game and it has as much heart as any other terrier when its chaseing something. Iv seen this dog flush fallow does from woodland and take off for half an hour trying to catch them. Its as game a sfuck but far to slow. I wouldnt mind crossing this dog to a greyhound bitch. david
  19. 2 hours is nowhere near long enough and 4 still isnt ideal. I would never run my dogs with in less than at the very least 6 hours after a feed. David
  20. My current pup is fed and always has been fed on an exclusive barf diet and she is growing much faster than my previouse two pups that were brought up on good quality complete and cooked mince. She also looks much better than the other 2 did at her age. Im not saying they were in bad condition because they wasn't, they were in fine condition but still not as healthy looking as the new pup. I don't see a problem with fat pups, i dont mind putting more effort in when they are older to keep them fit, it only takes a couple of weeks of hard lamping and a bit of roadwork and they will be in fine fe
  21. Its got to be deer for me.......always will be. David
