  1. Nice one mate Anyone else useing one? David
  2. Iv just came across some pictures of pits training on spring poles, would it be posible to get a lurcher fit useing one if the dog was game enough? Would it be worth while? And would it cause any problems such as makeing them heavy mouthed? I was thinking it might be ideal for say a bull x thats just used on fox. What are your thoughts? David This is a pic iv got off a site http://www.workingpitbull.com/springpolegallery.html
  3. Does anyone know where i can get a good quality greyhound collar? I want it to be stitched with brass fittings. I would also like it to have a brass lurchers head on it or a dog running a hare. Iv just been looking on ebay but cant see anything i like. Thanks David
  4. Was he on his own or in with another dog? How old is he? He may of took a hard knock off another dog which has lamed him. Even if its just one leg thats hurting him it could be enough to make him refuse to stand or walk. Iv got a bitch that is fussy like that, if she takes a hard knock she wont walk on 3 legs, she refuses to even stand and has to be carried Luckily she is only small. Good luck David
  5. If its the stud dog im thinking of it was a very nice strong looking whippet David
  6. Nice one mate, iv hardly left my bed since saturday night, im getting better now tho Shame about the rain on sunday, do you want to go for a mooch next sunday as long as its not throwing it down? David
  7. At least the pup is keen mate Got any pics of him? Thanks David
  8. There isnt allways loads of hares, the main reason so many people run on them is because they are so flat and open, you can see the whole course. Iv hered of people walking all day to get half a dozen runs. They are so big that its hard for coursing alone to wipe out the hare population, or even significantly decreas the population. The fens are also a good place to test a dogs staying power, courses can go on for a long time before the hare has chance to get into cover. In small enclosed fields runs are over in seconds, its hard to see how well the dog can really stay, hence the need for the
  9. Linconshire mate They are so big that its hard to be spoted and they have much better things to do than spend to many resources policeing the ban. If someone reports you then they will check it out but i doubt they will fly around looking for coursing taking place Just dont go mob handed and you should be fine
  10. nuts? Its a dog mate not a parrot Mine will get meat all year mixed with rice and pasta a coule of times a week I also give plenty of meaty bones And teh odd bit of veg a coupel of times a week. David
  11. Should make tough strong dogs only problem is they will most probably open up, which is a pain the arse. David
  12. Good luck with her frank Iv had alot of fun running my whippet cross on hares, she doesnt catch many but i love to watch her try David
  13. Nice looking pup mate, hows her training going? David
  14. its not the breed , its the heart , Iv got a yorkshire terrier with all the heart in the world, she really is a game we thing but would she catch a hare Its not just heart, if the ability and breeding isnt there then the amount of heart isnt going to catch the hare. In my opinion its all about the mix of ability, breeding, stamina, heart, fitness and how the dog is enterd that determins wether the dog will become a good hare dog. If the dog wants to run it will, but if the lungs and stamina isnt there it wont be able to stay. David
  15. Coursing is a day time sport And why say that you will match your dog with anyones dog then come back and say coursing is illegal? Thats like me saying iv got the best deer killing poodle but as there is a ban i wont be able to prove it, and then me expecting everyone to believe me. If your not willing to course hares while there is a ban then dont post saying you will match your dog against any dog.
  16. Looking good mate He looks like he has got some big hams on him Plenty of power David
  17. Nice one andrew where was you? I need to get the pup broke to sheep. David
  18. I had teh same problem, just stick at it mate Try letting her have half an hour running around before giveing her some retrieves. She should be less hyper by then and should come back quicker. Giver her a really good fuss and a treat aswell, she will soon learn if she thinks there is a treat involved
  19. Cracking looking dog mate
  20. Dale you have made a very very bold statement, if deerhound crosses where better than saluki crosses all the coursing lads would be useing them.......but they are not. You need to open your eyes mate, there has been some very experianced coursing lads answer this thread, they no what they are talking about Have you ever consistantly ran day time hares through out the season? If you havent then who are you to say they are superior? David
  21. We will have to arrange something closer to the date mate Take care David
