  1. Pinning a deer as above. Through both front legs and often withers. Causes bullet to expand instantly and breaks both legs causing instant death. Damages a little meat but with soft points this is limited and a prefered shot at dusk especially on Sika.
  2. Think the word "most" is correct, not "all".
  3. Nice one Mark not to hard is it. I can find plenty of does but the bucks have their summer coats on now and are in the rape keeping out of the nth east wind. Its lovely tonight fingers crossed.
  4. Well done Mark nice job. Your bucks like mine lack much span. But nice all the same. The wife will get a nice fortnight abroad this year.
  5. I'm with F.T. here but have double standards I admit. Boiler house at close range (below 150m's)(usually below 50)for the deer. And for foxes boiler house, unless at long range then centre mass. Incoming.
  6. Well done on a great write up and an honest one. Experience will come only with outings so get out there and do it Teats on bucks are not unusual. A loveley head and everything well prepared if you can get a chiller the meat will be better left "hung" for a few days. The bucks around here are in hiding they must know its open season And 1 little tip if you cable tie the pizzle tube and cut off the bollocks you will not risk crosscontamination by pulling hair and outside dirt into the deers cavity. Regards john
  7. Clint she is moulting her winter coat so looks very scruffy not inbred or a poor animal in any way.
  8. Theres alot I dont film for that reason or there isn't time But when there is its worth carrying my camera is about the size of a small rangefinder.
  9. Out this morning and this doe twigged me move, I think she thought I was one of her newly repelled yearlings so she came to have a look. She eventually twigs my client and breeze at the dyke top and bolts but not until she was 3m's from me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rsqBUrSx6g
  10. Very unusual those are mate with plenty of weight and volume.
  11. I told him(earlier)to pin the deer which he did. What didn't he listen to??????
  12. Well done mate I have 2 belgiums out all next week Have you a photo of the head.
  13. Had this youth lined up a few times things not right so just happy to film him. Today things were different and he was in the right place at the wrong time. 102m's ranged and if you look behind him you can see the bullets exit on the tree stump. I told the client to pin him as there is a big drop within the tree line and I didn't want to have a runner go over the top. He was over the bank having gone about 12m's with both front legs broken and very dead. What a carry out 45lb clean.
  14. with 125gr handload it is zeroed at 1" high @ 200m's 3 inch drop.
  15. mine also shots the above well. though zeroed at 100m's they drop 5-6 inch at 200m's. I limit these to woodland ranges and when in the open use my handloads 125gr partitions @ quick.
  16. No roe in parks that i'm aware of. All my deer are wild roe. Eyes better at picking up movement than detail. Usually they try to back up sight with another scense. Not to hard to stalk hardest thing to find them in the first place.
  17. I too though this which is why i never commented on mount. I was to polite but now its been raised he's right . nice effort though
  18. mine shoots all very well 95-156gr. standard factory barrel twist 1 in 8"
  19. you should have had it measured first mate think you would have had a medal hung below it.
  20. 6.5x55 but in sako. try 125 grain partitions for best results
  21. You should have a day out with a pro stalker my friend I believe you could learn an awful lot. The deer didn't run as it didn't know we were there thats half the battle. had a doe come within 4m's of us this morning before she bolted, we were good on wind and stood still. Only wearing plain green. Quiet, still, and right for wind you will approach most deer nearer than 200m's most within 100 and some within 40.
