  1. Ive seen labradoodles, jack russells, paterdales and cocker spaniels all work perfectly on deer. what you put in, you'll get out. Theres no reason at all why a flat coat wouldnt make a great deer dog Honestly any dog with a good temprement and nose which is steady and doesn't shake or pant all the time should have the potential to be a deer dog.
  2. Well done it again this morning for a regular though.

  8. Took this lad out last night and after a good stalk getting into 2 does found this big lad with 2 does out in a grass right on dark. Thank god he had a swarovski. Then out this morning after just 3 1/2 hours in bed and we shot this lad at 05.05 Then spent some time on a re-con till the pub opened so we could breakfast.
  9. Well done there mate. I dropped 2 off at the butchers the other day and 1 wasn't tagged as we had just shot it and I had no tags left in the glove box. That afternoon saw a spot check at his premisses and they picked up on it striaght away. Luckily they could get my hunter I.D. off the first so all was well.

  13. Well after a 2 year break and selling up this chap rang me for a letter for his FLO so he could re-apply for his FAC. He paid his deposits and the letter was sent. His ticket arrived and he picked up his new ruger .243 Scoped it with a tasco 4x40 and we boresighted it last night after tea. His first shot was near at 50m's so we went back to 100m's and altered his sights 3 left and 2 down. Next 2 shots two bulls. So we were off into stalking mode. The pheasant drive a long thin wood with a game cover down each side was perfect roe ground and was full of trade. Though nearing the end of

  17. Well i took Wayne out for his high seat payment (i'm actually in credit he has some catching up to do). LOL. And thought I might treat myself to a cull so I popped in the 6.5x55. I told Wayne where to go and wait and I took up position at the other side of the wood. After 1 1/2 hours I decided to start my stalk after seeing Jack sh*te. Around the wood I was painfully slow as there is alot of cover and no wind. After about 200 m's I wait again for about 15 mins. Nothing then on starting again I could hear a buck thrashing which is unusual for me(pardon). The cover was impenetrable and so

  19. Just out of camera shot the hedge is quite tall and if a deer was stood near the seat you would shoot it off the sticks so this one i will leave bare.
  20. Put up a high seat in a place I've been saying should have one in for years now. Put it up about 2 weeks ago and with time to kill last night I thought we'd try our luck in it for the first time. A brisk walk up the side of the rape and we were at the base of the seat. My client was keen and stepped on the first rung. No i said its the new design you climb up the inside and so you don't have to pirouette at the top. He was up and very impressed. Anyway we hadn't been in it more than 20minutes when this little fellow jumped out of the old green lane. A rested shot later at 135m's and he
