    theres a thread on another site right now asking whats your favorite deer and why. Nearly everyone who has had an opinion(and many have shot abroad) has said roe or rutting red stags. Not to many of them in nambia.

    I'm winding down now, then on sunday I finish to go rearing my pheasants, ducks and partridge so apart from an odd outing I will be busy around the release pens and killing as many foxes as I can. Then I start again for the rut, so I will still pop in from time to time to see how you are all getting on and will begin posting again when I start back with the bucks. Though i'm keen to see who see's the rut kick off first. So good luck you lot and keep knocking em down.

    I wouldn't hessitate to cull a doe out of season with feet like that unless she had dependants at foot. Even then it may be for the best. I always thought it was wet ground but shot 1 on the wolds this year(a yearling doe in the buck season I had seen a month earlier but couldn't get a backstop) on chalk and flint so made me think again. Regards john.

    I would agree with the nature of the wound from your photo. Maybe just unlucky or you may have a murder buck to take out.

    Under the eye is that a puncture wound. And i agree it WAS better culled. Were any lymph nodes swollen??

    I have a job clearing deer off a runway. The risk assesments are unbelievable. Anyway i use a moderator on my rifle, (don't normally). I also use my most powerful rifle with very frangible bullets....7mm rem mag 110gr hp TNT. This ensures NO runners even with boiler house shots and NO ricochets. I get paid to be there and per unit so venison is not an issue just a bonus. (H+S is the main priority). For me to cull it also takes 5 members of their staff to be presant in some form or other just for me to operate. Not cheap at 4.a.m. and double time. (but cheaper in cost and lives than a pla

    After leaving my house this morning at 03.35 and after getting back in last night at 23.20 my pillow was barely warmed. We arrived on the ground about 04.00 it was just nicely light. We set off to stalk around some large wold corn fields and saw plenty of trade from the recent rain but no deer not even any does. The wind was still N.E and it was chilly. After about a mile the sun was well up and the day began to warm. We looked into a small dale and immediately saw a very large buck walking away from us. We waited to see if anything else moved......It didn't so we went to the far end ski

    to answer the above 2. all these bucks have come on the whole from different ground many miles from each other. i have about 14 farms/estates 12,000 acres ish and the distace from the furthest 2 is 60mile from each other. All this is set within more farmland much of which is not shot for deer beacause of large pheasant shoots so allowing a never ending supply of spill out. and the clients who dont want posting get the drawn on glasses treatment i ask everbody. regards john.
