  1. It depends were you are and if you know what you want but if you are just looking and want to try stuff stay well back from Neils i have had bad dealings with him not a nice man at all. I use Alex Dalglish eaglesham he is ok and always willing to make a deal. But for choice and size GLASGOW FIELD SPORTS IS THE PLACE AND A DEAL CAN BE HAD THERE. http://www.glasgowfieldsports.co.uk/view.php?module=home
  2. Fox dropper sorry to rain on your parade mate but the facts are the facts and if you have passed you Lev one and Two stalking certificate and have done your meat hygiene the pluck dose not need to go to the game dealer. WILL I REPEAT MY SELF TO A SELF APOINTED PRO. PS There are still obligations that lie with the deer stalker like reporting anything that is not one hundred percent. If any of the glands for instance don't show the right colour texture etc then you need to report it but not to the game dealer to the head vet. This is a european law and covers the whole of Europe so please don't
  3. Foxdropper i am not sure if you are aware but the reason for doing some of the exams is so that you don't need to take any of the pluck to the game dealer . The hygiene cert means you are experienced enough to decided if the Deer is fit for the food chain or not .
  4. i LOOKED AT A LOT OF OVER BARREL MODS AND WENT FOR THE ALL NEW NORTHSTAR IT IS WITH OUT DOUBT THE BEST I HAVE SEEN AND HEARD. http://gunmart.net/accessories_review/ase_utra_ns-3s_north_star_moderator/
  5. I put that series of pictures up a long long time ago in fact they were taken in the late nineteen eighties so while it is the method used most commonly in the field to day it dose not really meet with the very modern best practice guide so sorry lads i cant remove it as that site is now just floating about in cyber space.
  6. Took a lad out today got a nice wee doe and had a young buck still in hard antler in the video camera http://z11.£$%^**((/Passion_For_Stalking/index.php?showtopic=2864
  7. Do you know what score it made mate and who measured it as to me and i am no expert but it dosnt look like a gold quality head. But it is a very nice roe head.
  8. Well done john that's a alot of deer mate with clients i my self hope to finish on 40 a set plan that seems about right for the ground i have.
  9. http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Environment/Wildlife-Habitats/WildNatEnvBill/ConsultationResponses This is were you will find the responses written in to the govern met sorry if it has been put up before they should be available tomorrow some time
  10. yOU CANT BEAT REAL WOOD MATE DONT G AND GET THEM PLASTIC FECKERS YOU WILL SCARE MORE AWAY THAN YOU SHOOT THERE REAL PISH
  11. [There are still plenty of places were you do not need a dsc1 and you can get your own ground and shoot what you want when you want but i would advise getting insurance.
  12. Hey foxdropper being a complete knob must be a life times work for you as you are so good at it. Deker must also find it hard to type with his head so far up your large ass. John i was not wanting a slagging match just pointing out your pushing of the doe before kids is not what is the norm and any one who is there in the same situation should take the kids first as there is a welfare issue should you not get all three and i also shoot alot of field roe and family wipe outs are often what is called for but not in the order you state. This is the last i will say on the mater.
  13. John that is correct but your actions influence others and as an AW you must lead by example.Your right about hard and fast rules not being every thing but your reply to the earlier statement tells me your only an AW to make money. Not because you believe what you are doing is correct.
  14. John if you don't follow best practice guide that is up to you but as an AW you should not put that on a forum were novices are learning from your so called experience .
  15. Mub this is a forum and that is why we must try and stick to Best Practice at all time .There is never a 100% in this game that is why the kids must b removed first.John is an AW this means people are watching his posts and will follow him he also takes people out they might do a stalk with him then come out with me. He lets them hit an adult first and every thing gose ok i get the same chap who comes up hits an adult the kids bugger off i would kick his ass big time for it. There are reason for following guides and in this case it is for Deer welfare
  16. [John Robbo i thought you was an AW and used the guide set by DMQ or best practice or have you decided to make your own rules up .So i will say again KIDS FIRST then mother if she is still around the other way is never guaranteed.
  17. I have already started my doe cull and have removed 5 off a bit that has to many my rule is make sure you see the kids and shoot them first its the best way to make sure there is no deer welfare issue.
  18. It might not be the same but it takes me a full year to guesstimate the deer on the ground and even then it is what i said an educated guess. I have a bit of ground that has about 12 roe on it and i take 2 Bucks off it and one doe. One of the bucks will not count as it will be a mover in the rut.If i move up to one more then the number of deer will remain the same and i would like the number to imporve. So 1/4 IF YOU WANT YOUR BASE STOCK TO INCREASE SLIGHLTY 1/3 IF YOU WANT IT TO REMAIN THE SAME AND 1/2 IF YOU WANT TO GET THE NUMBERS DOWN. Wish you all the best and it is nice to manage yo
  19. Ill BET YOU HAVE HAD SOME RUNNER SOREL AND YOU GOT A GOOD DOG IN YOUR HOUSE 243 GOOD ENOUGH NOT FOR SOME OF THE SIKA AND REDS THAT YOU CAN MEET ON YOUR TRAVELS.
  20. [6.5 x 55 is the best calibre for deer but if you want a calibre for dog training get the .243 the dog will get plenty of work with the runners
  21. yes it can be measured no problem at all just tell them its a part animal same points system but when it goes in the shooting times it will say park deer but then i gain it might say its a muntjac .
  22. Kirky may i correct you it is costing the British public over 15 million on deer control. 10 million plus in Scotland alone. So the next time you look a your wages think of the tax that payed for deer contrl and your no loud to walk the ground with a fire arm.
  23. AT MURPH Romantic poaching is organised crime is different please don't mix the two together. It's not for sport or geting one over on anyone, they do it for a living and it's serious business, mil spec nv goggles, 4 wheel drives with 4 dogs in, there are often support vehicles as well. It's not 1 for the pot or the romantic type of poacher it sounds like you are picturing it's organised crime and it's got nothing to do with class or enjoyment, it's money. Sounds like you don't know what you're talking about to me. I doubt very much if all deer poaching is the sort that you're try
  24. There are people who have got round the poaching deer aspect and brought a great deal of credibility to deer shooting. Some one said is that all a deer is worth well the di,s Deer groups slaughter deer every week because we have far to many i am sure there is a compramise some were.
