Sorry about the duff picture but couldn't find a roe deer one so here's a red and if you look at the shoulder area you will see its an instant death.

Vmax you are the reason the system went to AW ,S only mate .Now please let me put you in the picture you are only there to check that the person meets the standards written in the PC,s Helping is only an option if you were going to fail them on that PC so what you are really telling us is that Foxhunters LEV 2 is worthless. Now if you have a chap and he shoots a deer in the shoulder and you are his AW for the stalk you be a good boy and keep you gob shut and let him get on with it. If you think he will fail because of it check with your assessor and he will no doubt remove you from the list of

The point in my opinion of any shot is to kill the animal as quickly as you can. Areas i work are some what sensitive and i cannot have a 60 100 mtr runner because i hit the heart low or put it through the lungs. I need it on the grass were i shot the deer and the shot that will do that is a forward shoulder shot. Neck shots to me can cause runners of wounded deer and that is not acceptable. You ask is lev2 the be all and end all no it is not it is best practice and that has been formulated by 100,s and 100,s of professional stalkers over the years .But has only recently been written down.

So is the kneck mate its well forward of the vitals now please let this go if you put a bullet through the front sholder you will cut off all blood going to the brain air going to the brain you will no doubt shock the spine. I use this shot all the time and i dont get many runners its a killer blow just about ever time. PS I dont do kneck shots they are not in any way reliable.

Nice one mark that first buck is a topper and will i am sure make top quality i am out on wens day for a buck my self so i hope i bump into as many as you did.

Don't be daft the shoulder is a big place and the shoulder blade is a small place it matters not what matters is the deer dies very quickly there is good room for error if you need it unlike a neck shot and if you shoot it back your in the vitals and will have a 60 mtr follow up unlike the lung shot if that's back you have a very sick deer and any one who has had to follow up o a gut shot will tell you it ain't nice. Good picture martin do you have the one from LEV1 shooting or a shot placement picture. That might reveal a true picture of what is an acceptable shot ( MARTIN THE Politician ) Wit

Don't talk pi sh FD if you shoot a deer through the shoulders it will die very quick indeed and it wont be far from were it was hit.Hit in the right place on the front shoulder is a fatal shot and is on the DMQ 1 roe target. Keep it real and keep knocking them over.

That should make a really good score don't get it done up here send it down south. It should make a few hundred on ebay.

Pinning a deer is to shoot it through the front shoulders there for making sure it dose not travel from the spot even if it doesn't die right off .Most roe will still wheel barrow a bit but not much. The reason for this is they have floating shoulders (no socket) This still gives them some movement. Nice shot and well done to the client.

Sholder on center line

Its that time of year again and the roe seem to be happier to put the young out in the fields my farmers cut mainly the first week in june weather permitting i take the big dog a walk if i can but most of them do look out for deer and the new contractor cutters stop if something that large is in front of it.

FD this chap has lev two is very well read and seems to go with the (leave it if it ain't passed its best. It was nice to meet such a chap as i my self go down that same type of route when i can. But they are hard to take out because they will pass plenty to get what they want and for me that was pressure i don't need. Robbo that's the head in the picture i will see if the old yen will send me a picture when it is boiled out. This is the best picture i have for the moment.

For me it is a sport and the animals we are shooting at are moving targets some times fast sometimes not so fast. But you can be assured that my stalking technique is much better than your friends Foxy because that's how i do my deer. With regards long distance i have had chaps out with me that were lets say the best shot we have to offer, I certainly would not have let them take a shot over 200 mtr at a neck because the animal might not play the game no matter how much you practice. Do i treat foxes different no i dont take neck shots over 200 mtr at them its central mass with ballistic t

I had a guest out this weekend and it was quite an eye opener. He was a true sportsman from belgium and had asked if i could get him on any deer that he thought were buy there best in his eyes a real trophy .I told him that i had a few old bucks and one in particular was in his 9th year and we had tried to remove him last year with out success. 4 outings were booked and we set about looking for some good old lads. We passed on quite a few big deer i my self would have thought would have been perfect for a foreign visitor but it was a no from him by the time we had got to outing 3 i was starti

f*****g mess-er best practice doesn't come into it neck shot at 300 plus is totally irresponsible and you should have your licence to stalk deer removed on the spot tell your mate he was lucky and so was the buck next time he wont be nor will the animal but you wont be bragging a bout it on the Internet you type never do wounds are a thing to dismiss.

Nice one FD looks like a defo cull animal. -
Local if you leave it for three weeks it will have dried out and you can assess the head you shot properly. But for it to be official then you need to wait ninety days. The weight you have after taking off 90 gram will be the weight that the head is judged on. So lets say it stops at 500 you take off ninety and that will be how its judge you are looking for it to be any thing over 450 if you want it to make a medal as a full scull. I THINK THAT SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM. Hope this helps.

Here is the buck getting his head removed by my lad you will notice the colour is as in the picture and his coat isnt quite through. It made a low silver at 115.2 cic 24 cm tall

Something is going right and the deer that are left are doing not a bad job on there own .But if you want you animals at there best you need to work at it. Indiscrimnate shooting because some one with a lurcher might come by and take one or some one might take one out with a crossbow is no reason to be small minded. Deer welfare and managmnet should be at the top of every sportmans list. Just think of the deer you could get if you looked beyond the poachers. Remeber only the deer left can breed and the deer that are left is up to you on the ground. I dont need to tell you the sience of the ro

Martin i have really no idea mate must be the type of woods but i have noticed pictures of roe on the net already going red and most of ours are still in winter coat and the chap i shot was still quite tight. This one was a buck shot in may a few years ago now and he was already dark.

Well done mate and i agree with John if you weight is correct and he measures even half decent he will be a medal. I was out my self on May day after a really nice buck but as it happened the field were he had been seen a few time had been set on fire by local idiots. But any time in this area that a beast is removed for any reason there is always a younger beast waiting to take over. He will not be ruling this area any more and hopefully the old boy will move back when the growth starts again.

May day cull buck this fella would never have made good over 4 and still pour

[some times Deer management can be frustrating and letting your bucks get to full potential is fraught with danger roads poachers fences etc. Or they might cross the boundary and get shot by an nab-our . But the way i look at it John is if only one of them big bucks makes it through to it full potential then you have a better gene pool instant and will no doubt reap the rewards. This is what is done in fife and Aberdeen shire and in Ayrshire all produce good heads .

Defoe no to compulsory training and any one that wants it is a knob or a greedy b*****d that wants to skin cash from the less affluent. There are many fools at this game and there are plenty sharks waiting to part them from there cash be warned.

Like i said Jon when you are struggling to use a 7x mag for stalking its time to take up knitting or you could always let other people shoot your deer PS here is a mistake i made because the magnification on my bins was to small.
