  1. I have a meeting organised with DCS with reference to a few things we want sorted before they go forward with the bill we are told they want to talk to us and it was them that asked my self and a few others that i am getting together to have a chat about what is right and wrong with the bill.If any of you would like me to ask any question on your behalf. Then send me a name and your question in a pm and i will ask for you.
  2. It is sad that some one would put the deer in the same category as the rabbit and the squirrel show a mentality of a Nat but i am sure the DCS has a job waiting for you mate you are the type they want a trigger happy killer. DCS The ones that don't care advising the ones that don't know.
  3. Can anyone tell me if they have ever seen roe kids in April and if they think this is common or not, Do you also think that with global warming there will be earlier fawning or will it be later. If you have any pictures please may i have them.
  4. Yes it has mate i have had a few guests out this season and had one or two bad shots the call was theirs but from now on it will be mine no mater how good they tell me they are.
  5. Nice set of antlers mate and nice to see you corrected the CIC boys. Golds gold what every way it comes, Mine made 130.35 but it is still gold well done With the DCS attitude to deer removing the buck season i am sure there will be alot less shot in future some shot in velvet and others failing because the good genes have gone the way of the lamp.
  6. Jon that is an impressive haul mate and i am certain most on here would be well impressed.ps how many of them were wounded as you know it is easier to wound than it is to miss. PS CAN YOU TELL ME YOUR LOCATION ETC I NEED A MAP REFERANCE NUMBER SO I CAN POST IT TO THE DI/DCS You have to many deer.
  7. Time will tell foxdroper but i still rate the harkila and i have went through a good many sacks i have had the loden the hessian and the cotton tweed. All gave in after one or to seasons of hard work this one i have now while being quite big is near on a year old and not a mark on it.
  8. It seems that the consultation of the Deer section was for interested parties only. It has now become official that it is a full public consultation. This is due to the pressure put on buy the lads who have wrote in. The seasons are already under review and all other areas are already under discussion by the Deer Commissioners and things are starting to bend very slightly. Now do we want it to go back to this if not get your letters in to your MSP OR IF YOU ARE ENGLISH WELSH OR IRSIH YOUR MP,S This is what they want to happen ps note the best practice guides in place. God i am glad i neve
  9. Scotland spent over £7,000,000 on deer management last year and this was sanctioned by the SNP. They are a national party and were possible want independence this will go a long way to that with regards the countryside in Scotland. The questions that we should really be asking is were our money is going. The forestry commission spent 5.7 MILLION on controlling deer (our money ) while the fountain forestry tilhill and scottish woodlands all broke even or made a profit. The Deer Commission Scotland Gave Peter Watson of the DI a Cheque for 51,000 so that they could do a survey on RTA,s . T
  10. What a crap answer and he should be ashamed of him self Deerstalking is with out doubt the safest sport that is carried out on this island more people have died playing snooker than out deerstalking what it should do is rally all shooters as this is now aimed clearly at them and with out doubt will now fall on there lap. Target shooting and foxing lamping will now be looked at under the micro scope and i can tell you if it will bring in revenue or create jobs for quangos god help us all.
  11. You have no profile let me know abit about your self and i might help.

  12. Double standards from the DCS /Government and others on the new bill .They put forward the reason for banning hunting with dog against deer and used the Welfare of animals taken up the Deer Commission Scotland they this is what they go by and it is still on there site. Please read and let me know if you think taking away seasons shooting them at night lamps and night vision driving the with vehicles etc would cause any concern with this next section if so they will be going against the information they used to ban other types of hunting. WELFARE OF ANIMALS Freedom from Hunger and Thirs
  13. This chap says he has not received many emails regarding the Wildlife bill and would like to here from anyone that is against it. steven.macgregor@scotland.gsi.gov.uk please send him an email get heard don't just talk on this board tell him how you really feel about what is going on. steven.macgregor@scotland.gsi.gov.uk steven.macgregor@scotland.gsi.gov.uk steven.macgregor@scotland.gsi.gov.uk
  14. The problem i see is the professional advisors they have drafted in from BASC and the FC ETC are not deerstalkers but chaps who's job it is to RID THE COUNTRY SIDE OF DEER .When i worked a lease on the west coast the rangers i met had a zero tolerance to deer and would shoot them when ever they could lamps driven out and out of season. Deer welfare dose not come into this at all. The forestry groups have brought this about them selves putting the country into debt in the process and now want moneys under a different guise because they cant get any more through the usual rotes.
  15. For me a good sign of a rut is not a doe with a kid that's not the norm they would have been left long way off some times for days during the rut the doe will peep when the buck is in .But this time of year will have good results when calling because most times it is the doe we call. The sad old buck will only follow to his death .
  16. I had been shooting for years before i got a medal and i new it was a good one soon as i seen it in my scope. I have since shot a good few medals and see one or two a year. I had a chap up last year and he had a good gold in front of him but like most will say its your donald.I would say were i am only about one in twenty bucks will make a medal of some sort and when it comes to gold prob one in a hundred. Fifes the place you can get one there as in a one in 10 chance i am told. I have got a few chaps to take out this year but next season i will keep my eye open for a something special type r
  17. [ The best food for roe deer is not in the field edges but in the low damp ditch areas. Most of the old bucks only lift there head a few times while out feeding. I my self try and get my eye on a doe or two and then just watch her its amazing how many times the bucks are satelliting them .They are there its only a mater of time
  18. [Well done that man seems that gold still eludes you .A walk up Angus or a trip to my area might sort that ps better start saving up What scores did they make.
  19. Seen the measuring at scone the day mate and it was Alister trumpet so you might get marked down a bit hes really sore on them ps check your scores he cant count my mate has handed one back that got meaured last year it missed bronze scoring only 89 points this hea weight 450 gram any way it went back in and got measure and it made 112 cic points now thats what you call a miss count.
  20. Nice sets of antlers there mate i fancy a crack at a good head how much would it cost to shoot the one on the right as we look at it with the label on.
  21. It all depends on what deer we are talking about as some work on weight some more on points and others have totally different ways of measuring
  22. [Well the SGA were very slow on this and the reason i was told is they were offered the new training being the biggest Org with the Scottish connection and there members Gamekeepers would get the cert with out a test. But the proposals go further than that they go into the central belt were there are no reds at all. Don't people realise that its not the males that create a population but the females and to cull them is the only real way of bringing down the level of deer. That is if we really have to many i don't think bring down the number to help the failing forestry industry who have been ba
  23. I think you are write in one sense John but i know the shooting times and other of the shooting magazines sell most of there copies to Joe public. Give t a go some one needs to put a real perspective on it.
  24. May be we need a good writer to inform the public of what is happening through the press i think JD should take a brake from his normal writings and get his teeth into this one. A article in the shooting time from the angle of the common man would certainly go down well.
  25. [i HAVE STATED THIS BEFORE AND WILL DO IT AGAIN WE NEED AN ORGANISATION FOR DEERSTALKERS NOT A CHARITY BUT THE REAL DEAL.INSURANCE MAGAZINE AND WITH GUYS AT THE TOP WHO DO NOT BUCKEL UNDER PRESURE FROM OTHER FORCES.
