I completely agree with you target shooting has little relivance in the capabilities of taking deer although most deerstalkers already will know the capabilities of the calibre. The point was made to show the excellent qualities in terms of accuracy of the round and the fact it had been selected as a long range competition rifle is supports this. I met a yank whilst over in the states and we were discussing deer calibres as well as various other calibres, when I asked if he owned a .243 he said "nah... It's a girls gun"

The .243 admittedly is a capable round (designed as a varmint round) BUT IMO the 6.5x 55 is better, just read the opinions of many on the Stalking Directory it's a hot topic but as I say arguably the best UK deer calibre around, low recoil and high bullet coefficient. Below taken from the web Because 6.5 mm (.264") bullets have relatively high ballistic coefficients, the 6.5×55mm has seen success in long range target matches of 300 m (328 yd) 1,000 m (1,094 yd). The 6.5×55mm cartridge was widely used in biathlon competition until 1975. The 6.5×55mm was and is used for 1,000 yd (914.4

If you are only getting one rifle then you should get the .243 varmint round as you can get fox and deer on this calibre Or get yourself a .223 AND a 6.5 x55 swede arguably the best deer calibre out there and have done with it, Reloading bullets from -90gr all the way up to 165gr. It is an excellent calibre.

I think on blackberry you can put a micro SD card in (slot near the sim card) you could save your details to this and transfer that way?

Nor mine Miserable git. I dont care if he was English, Irish Scottish, Welsh never really liked him -
I think it's just down to personal preference when I was considering the two I opted for a .223. The decision was mainly based on it being such a common calibre I felt bullets would always be available and more choice, in the end I suppose it didnt matter as I now reload all my cf rounds but the .223 in Browning A bolt is a sweet thing

If you could find out where this lad lives I would gladly buy him a new rod the poor little bugger. This bitch probably spends her evening knitting and tut tutting at everything she's on TV, how she allowed her daughter to marry an evil fisherman is beyond me, i bet deep down she's glad he's no longer around harming fishes. some people are just a living waste of bone and tissue...

This is quite possibly the most strangest thing I've watched on here.

I'm glad that's all cleared up then Anyone for a cup of tea

Go tell that to all the black lads serving in the armed forces. If you knew CC as I do you would realise this statement couldn't be further from the truth, he is a die hard supporter of our armed forces past and present regardless of the colour of their skin. I may not always see eye to eye with him as he's a pagan heathen but don't jump to conclusions on what he's saying ATB

Not according to South Yorkshire it isn't. Admittedly things may have changed but this was their stance a couple of years ago. I know you have several calibres to choose from Deker, intersted to know under what condition would you reach into your cabinet and pull out the HMR if you had a call to dispatch a fox? South Yorks are not in the business of shooting Foxes, they run a Firearms dept! No but they are in the business of issuing out certificates to those who do want to shoot them and implementing conditions relating to said certificates I feel that has very little to do with the O

IMO its got to be Little Walter

No it was barked to death

I've got a wildcat on my .223 and on my 6.5x 55 very effective moderators however they are quite large

Funny you never hear anyone come on here and talk about the 150 yard gut shot or leg shot and the fox that goes limping off with a HMR. It's always the 100-150 yard straight out kill Strange that (this isn't aimed at anyone on this thread BTW) I've got a HMR and have done several experiments with CC about the effect wind plays on the tiny pill and I wouldn't shoot anything past 100 yards if it was anything more than the slightest of breezes.

Looks like they have total control of that barking peice of crap, chasing it round the garden with a peice of hose pipe. "Andrew there's nothing you can do.." FFS

Keep it up Dy, I bet this is one visit the RSPCA wish they hadn't made. Any news on when it's likely to go to the media?

I think your spell checker turned bellend into legend...
-
IMO bang on mate It's dogs such as this that get homed following a spell at a form of dog rescue centre that we hear about in the media for all the wrong reasons and usually at the expense of some other dog or kid. Yes needs to be PTS I agree with you
