Doc there seems to be a lot of variation in collie crosses here even in the same litter,i bred a litter of welsh hill collie x greyhounds about 8 yrs ago,we kept the biggest dog pup [rangey rather than heavy] he has the softest temprament you could imagine and hardly any fight in him. His litter brother not quite as tall but heavier build is very game and nearly killed a full grown staffy when he was 2,although he isnt a really bad fighter as a rule im told. After breeding a litter myself i wouldn't do it again if i had fox in mind, you just couldn't guarantee the tempraments to do it

Ive got to protest at this show of unbridled racism, just because pakkis 1 worship a pedophile [mohammed married a 6 year old gir, didnt f..k her until she was 9 though, out of respect?] 2 Come here and live off our tax money, while still driving a taxi. 3 peddle virtually all the heroin. 4 Get preferential treatment by the police, courts and welfare system. 5 marry their first cousins to keep their money in the family, despite birth defects running rife. 6 Burn our flag in the streets after 9/11 7 Take our charity and then plant bombs on tube trains to kill us. 9 come here aged 60 and get a

Finn Im no expert myself mate, and ive got to admit to making some bad decisions on breeding, but you learn from it[hopefully]. You probably know this but Merle can be tricky if you put 2 dogs together that carry the gene, and you cant allways tell its in a dog. I would probably play safe and put a straight running dog over the bitch, afterall if you used anything with wheaton/bull blood you wouldn't know what direct contribution your bitch had made to the ability of the pups, and they could still end up being on the heavy side,i would have thought to see what qualities she could pass on

the best general tool i had was a bulldog no2 with a shortened shaft and rounded off blade[still got it] but you need a good selection for different ground, a small grafter [rounded blade] can be worth its weight if its genrally firmer going, but they arent as good in light sandy soil. Probably the best compramise was my all steel bulldog rounded shovel with a solid bar welded inside the shaft[after we broke it] the solid bar gave it a bit of weight and strength,i wore it that thin the blade split eventually.

One of the funniest things that happened was when my digging partner phoned to say he needed a hand to dig his bitch, and the ground was very hard and could i bring a pick and grafting spade,i got the gear and drove to meet him in a nearby pub carpark,it was dark by the time i met him by the pub. He asked if i had brought a torch and i said "yes of course ive got one" we walked across a cricket pitch and just as we entered the wood he asked if i could put on the torch, i said no not yet or the people in the houses that backed on to the cricket pitch might think we were burglars and phone t

She looks a bit racier than i thought she would and seems to have a fair length in the back, all the kelpie crosses look very hardy dogs, similar to some of the whipp/sheepdog/terrier crosses we used to borrow from neighbours when we were kids, they never got hurt and not knowing any better we hunted in really bad places,in those days. With all the base blood in her what would you use over her if you were to breed? ps, i like the look of the beddy x bitch, ive already got one ordered when my lad breeds his, depending what he puts it to,its got nearly everything you could want,im very impressed

Definately in the ground That answer would also suite nonce's,most politicians and several other groups i could mention, lol better not be un-pc or racist though. -
Ive got to agree that i dont like field driving its causing more friction and bringing unwanted pressure on more traditional lads like me,that said i think its a f..king discrace to think like those farmers, these lads who have died are somebody's son, husband and father, its not worth dying for though is it. Condolence's to their families.

Boring mate not at all,its obviouse you think things through not enough people on here do that. Speed is the easyest thing to put in a dog, anyone can do it,we all judge things depending on the area we hunt some do it without realising it,your dog sounds spot on for your ground,i know a good dose of whipp/grey would be required for my area, the runs arent gruellers and a dog with pace and prey drive is just the job. Being used to working terriers i dont mind full on tempraments[i dont mean suicidal type dogs]after all if the dogs got a bit of drive you can steady it up ussually,if it hasen't g

At least the beddy lads on here seem to aknoledge the fact that a common fault with beddy's [lurcher's or straight terriers] are a little "deaf" greyhound blood does alter that though. Maybe a lot of the whippets used to create the bedd/whippet cross were carrying some staffy blood as well, especially the non-ped raceing lines, its still going into the non-ped's now, cant see that helping when mingled with the beddy genes, not on the obediance front anyway, the drive definatly.

Unless you want a dog to work rabbit and fox why have a terrier? rabbit dogs should never be able to go to ground, many terriers are lost going to ground on rabbits,if you want a good bushing marking dog that is obediant why not try a spaniel or a whippet x,the best all round rabbit dog[and most intellegant dog] i ever saw was a whippet/lab, marked setts, caught loads on top and very very trainable. Once saw the dog catch a young rabbit on the other side of a high fence and my mate[the owner] told him to "let it go" the dog dropped the rabbit and stood perfectly still and watched the rabbit r

There was a few lads round our way at one time, went round "trenching" every earth they came across, threats were issued as to not come to our side of town again, they didn't, some earths never held a fox again, absolute discrace.

Nice job, them dimensions look spot on,did you get the concrete panels for free? -
One question; Do barbs make a difference to the effectivness of the fence/wire? i think its B....ks myself. Ban the barbs.

What breeding is he mate, think he looks collie/grey bull/grey,seen a few very useful dogs bred that way.

Even a hard bitten lakeland terrier soon learns to shake a rat, some people mis-read why dogs do certain things.
-
It amazes me how some people can think they know better than guys who are testing their stock thoroughly and ruthelessly culling anything faulty, very few people in the UK are using such programmes to create good dogs. These yote dogs have been bred for generations to do a job,General Custer had some so they have been around a fair while, ive no doubt that pitt/grey and their derivatives would kill a coyote single handed, but as an earlier poster pointed out pitts enjoy the combat and thats a tottally different thing. Ive seen all crosses kill fox,and the pitts sometimes seem to make a slowe

Ive seen pictures of General Custer with his coyote dogs in a book written by Dutch Salmon i think? just wish we had the amount of land here that you have in America, very handy looking dogs, atb

its good to see someone thinking about their sport and trying to put something back in,to many people are just good at ruining earths, well done . Stone or brick sides with a dirt floor allways hold better than pipes[probably warmer] but they should be built fairly tight so your terrier can just get through comfertably. Around my area there's quite a few such drains and the tight ones allways hold more fox. Using slabs or flat rocks for the lid is better than pipe, because they are easily repaired after a dig,a well constructed earth thats repaired will last a very long time, and provide lo -
That beddy/lurcher/kelpie sounds like a useful dog and speeding them up a bit could produce something a bit special by the sound of it,look forward to seeing a few pics mate. Im surprised the bed/whip/grey has been slow to mature,my lads had to hold his [above] back a bit, she's to willing for her own good really, maybe its the extra dose of whippet?

That sort of ground can be dangerous in my experience, especially when the soil is loose/dry,you move one rock and 10 more above it come loose, ive had a few close shaves myself, well done mate.
