If its a good peice of land for fox they keep coming anyway,no matter how many you clear in the winter on good land there's phonecalls from farmers and keepers, I once took 28 adults off one peice of land in the winter, and got 3 phonecalls at this time of year, who would say no to the keeper and lose it? the surrounding land was out of bounds and un keepered. I wouldn't do it unless asked though.

Ive got nothing to hide myself, but after the experiance i mentioned earlier i dont trust the RSPCA one bit,our local inspector is a compleate arsehole, every year at about this time he's in the local paper saying lads with dogs are going round killing pet rabbits/guinea pigs in peoples gardens,he knows damn well its foxe's with cubs but never loses the chance to slate hunting men. Last year he said someone had skinned a pet rabbit, they found a skin turned inside out, weve all seen this when cubs fight over the rabbit skins,he scared the owner half to death and blamed men with dogs, there was a

FINN The mixing of merle genes can produce deafness and other defects, not a good idea to try it. As poacher3161 says bigland boy is produceing, his pups have plenty of drive and the dog is well proven, unlike some racing types they have steady tempraments as well, couldn't recomend a better dog of this type being honest. My coursing bred whippet goes back to Mike's breeding, but mixed with out and out coursing stock,i think the dogs he has now are very different to mine, but by all accounts they do have plenty of drive, its probably a safe bet to use his blood if you go the whippet route.

NBW Hungary, Tried to reply to your pm mate, but it wont let me send it. -
Did'nt reply last night cos i went to bed (ran out of cider, lol) Always interested to hear about terrier history, not interested if it involves slagging people though. Not saying that you would do that pal. Foxfan after a lot of thought ive decided i cant risk offending my friends, afterall if they wanted publicity they could write a book[wish they would]when i speak to the man involved i will ask if he would be ok with a basic version of events being told. For now all i can say is,the original dogs Plummer brought up north were a mix of unknown breeding, definatly Russell t

It would put its nose down and dissapear,Beagles [and some whippets]are headstrong dogs, dont do it,a spanielx whippet or terrier x whippet can be very good dogs, the best whippet x ive ever seen was a lab x,outstanding dog and very intellegant.atb.

Cant see a problem with the cross you mention, whippets and beddys are narrow headed, rather that over her than a staffy. Know someone who recently put a 60lb+ greyhound to a bitch nearly half that weight,no problems, the DNA goes in at conception/fertilisation so genetically half are saying to the egg "get big" and half are saying "be small" at which point they must compromise somehow? Big heads are the problem.

I once walked into my kitchen to make a brew and saw someone in my garden, looked like a copper from behind so i went out to see wtf was going on,turned out to be the local RSPCA inspector, had a "report" that i mistreated my dogs, showed him the dogs and then told him to f..k off. A couple of months later my terrier bitch was stolen, she was resting up and i had the other dogs with me when she was taken, never got her back,i cant prove he had passed on information to a third party but im pretty sure it was down to him the bitch was taken, Tell them to shove it and come with the cops and a warran

foxfan I would like to tell the story, its perfectly true and involves some of the best terrier men this country has produced,as far as i know the strain has gone now,or its that diluted you couldnt say they had much influence on the dogs its still in. I could tell you about some ins and outs of things but not be to specific,if you are interested?

NBW if your dogs are good workers why cant you breed Anna a pup? If not there seems to be some very genuine people on here who could provide you with some stock surely,i used to give them away to friends,i think the most i ever asked for a pup was £20. -
Yes i know a lot about the original stuff he brought from Wales, and what happened to them, ive owned some of that bloodline, unfortunatly i cant tell the story, because i dont want to offend a mate, but far better dogs were produced by my mate than plummer, using the original dogs, San's litter brother Hellion to be precise.

NBW I dont think anyone's trying to insult you,im certainly not,but your posts could make things clearer, a picture of that 1 dog and you in the deep hole implies she is 100% There's a lot of people on here bullshitting. -

I totally agree with fish's statement, if the dog stayed at its job while you dug to her how could you possibly be dissapointed with her? A lot of people on here would like such a dog. -

NBW Its just hard to beleive that a dog could be working all the time it would take to dig to it and be so clean,no soil in the blood even,no offence. At the end of the day if you wanted to fake it you could have rubbed dirt on the dog and nobody would have questioned it. For me its just hard to beleive the dog could be that clean. -
They cant be classed as "ratting dogs" and nothing else, they have the same ingredients as other terriers, ive heard of a few being used and 1 i know of was supposed to be a very good fox dog, It might be who owns them rather than the dogs lack of ability, they have a reputation as "messers" dogs and a lot of blokes probably dont want to enhance plummer's reputation for him. And i know there are some decent lads who have them, its not a dig at them.

Because you can see nothing from the behavior at the end. The dog is more brave when the owner is staying next to him/her so I don't care what I can see in this kind of situation. First of all the nose is the most important not the fight. And the second. If I dig out anything, I can let any kind of dog to catch it, why shall I use terrier? Why not bigger type? Thats a pretty good answer, if you give them "easy" fox some never want to work for it,which is nearly the same answer really. -

NBW Thats why i asked about your quarry, ok its in the right place for badger, but even in my prime that dig would take a good while, and the bitch is spotless with a wound with clean blood on it,no soil in the blood, you can't blame people who have done a lot of digging to be sceptical. Ive let people "try" a dog at the end of digs, they ussually came out looking like that,if they actually had a go that is. ps,you should never do this, when starting a terrier why? -

I bought my son in law,a pair of wychwood carp rods cost about £100 [dont know model] and he lost a few rings,my mate has a wychwood pike rod and has shattered the end rings,im not saying they are all faulty but i wouldn't buy wychwood after knowing this. Have a look at the "fox" range, they do a good budget rod for around £50 and the built quality is pretty good.

Ive got a "cluelite" and its very reliable, mate used it for years before i got it off him and its never gone wrong,my lads got a lightforce 140,he's put a stronger bulb in it and its a good beam,up to now no problems with wiring, but i agree the lightforce isnt as well made as the clue. Ive got a cheap no manafacturers name job thats good for getting young dogs going on rabbits because its got a fairly wide beam, think i paid about a tenner for it, at the end of the day all these are far superior to the car headlamp/motorbike set ups we had years ago.

"Everything you say is true there, but put a good beddy grey against a good collie grey and is there any plus points? Yep the collie has a stamina background. What was the beddie bred for ijn the first place?" Personally i wouldn't want to run a collie x grey against a beddy x grey for money, day or night, rabbits or hares, weve got both types. As for stamina collies do have stamina but a first x collie/grey would be 20 lbs heavier than the beddy first x and tire more quickly, beddy x's arent short on stamina either. Bedlingtons were bred for ground work, but most beddy's today

My post isnt supposed to be a dig at collie x's, we had dogs years ago with a fair bit of collie blood and they were very good allrounders, but even then the tempraments were very varied even in the same littermates. Collies are good for creating tough hardy lurchers that are durable and trainable, but they do vary in temprement quite a bit in my experience. Ive still got the collie cross i bred,he has got his uses and is well trained but the faults outweigh the advantages,in the right enviroment he could look like a very good dog, but the first cross is very limited in my opinion, cross
