  1. He could make you take some up to look , not worth it for what it will cost and with it being a wooden floor you will need airbricks in the external walls[stops dry rot] so it would help to keep the bills down,we pay about £4 per sq m for it,the stuff that comes on the roll not batts.
  2. Yes mate if its going to become a dwelling area, theyv'e gone f......g crazy with insulation, eec rules now.
  3. Honest opinion is i wouldn't have a terrier for rabbiting, a whippet/terrier would probably suite you better if you dont want a dog to dig to,atb steve
  4. Shortening barrels is pretty simple and if done well doesnt make any difference to short/ mid range accuracy, ive shortned quite a few to make them more compact. Its not illegal as somebody has implied, many factory made guns have barrels shorter than 24"many of the HW's come with a sixteen inch barrel off the shelf. Few tips, All rifleing is different and you shouldn't shorten the barrel to less than 1 full revolution of the pellet, get the tech data of the barrel of your gun,eg HW ,.22 cal 1 full revolution = 14" HW80 .177 = 12" if anything when i shortned the HW80 .177 it became more a
  5. Non peds are a mixture of grey/whipp and most carry bull genes, though watered down its in them.
  6. Just giving this a bump for Finn, i know there's some owners on here from previous litters, honest opinions please lads if you read this, Thanks steve ps he put it on very late.
  7. You could have to write a book to answer that properly, lol A few things you will find useful i think, .22 at 12ft lbs has a quite big trajectory, obviously it has higher kinetic energy than .177 but is nowhere near as accurate,.177 trajectories are quite tight even at 12ft lbs and scientific studies have shown that .177's are at their most accurate at bang on 11 ft lbs[nobody knows exactly why though] all rifleing is different and can effect performance not all pellets suite all barrels, its a case of trying different types for different barrels, BSA barrels dont have tight bores ussual
  8. First gun i learned to shoot with was a BSA Cadet Major[dads] the first gun i actually owned was an ASI paratrooper, ugly but strongly made and did the job, dont really shoot anymore but this year ive had roughly 6 pheasent,5 pidgeon,4 squirrel,1 rabbit and various odds and ends with the old Milbro catty, never leave home without it.
  9. Very honest mate, still wouldnt like to try it myself though, dogs are weird sometimes my lads got a first x collie/grey dog,he's about 70lb 26 tts,it will run off from a yorkshire terrier if chased[comical to see] I was once walking him past some back gardens and a boxer dog lunged out of a gap in a fence at me,before i could blink the lurcher nailed it and shook it like a rat, All i can think is even though he wouldn't protect himself because the dog went for me it brought out some "protective instinct" out in the lurcher. Hopefully you'll never find out. atb steve.
  10. good 1st cross to get you up and running atb keano KEANO, i know you are a big collie fan but recomending a first cross col/grey for a young lad is not good advice,to get good running ability and a better all round performance further running dog blood would be required imo. My lads got a first x col/grey,we carefully bred him and trained/worked him,he has got his good points and is almost indestructable, but even though everyone who see's him thinks he's a 3/4 x he lacks running ability, sharpness and tends to hesitate and think about the strike to much. Its no coincidence that
  11. KAHLER OX, delicate halbbitter, is the translation, halbbitter makes you think its beer "halfbitter" is the words meaning, but the Germans never call beer bitter, they have loads of types of liqeurs its probably one of them.
  12. Cant help thinking that these Kelpie crosses are probably very similar to the original lurchers bred from the old droving dogs, probably much closer to type than anything that could be produced from a modern day border collie? ps not slating border collie's or their crosses, bred and worked a half x welsh hill collie owned by my lad.
  13. FINN There's lads on here with pups out of him,a got pups out of "bigland boy" thread would probably tell you what you want to know, when your mate owns him and bred him you dont like to say to much, but its what you are looking for imo,he throws very strong pups and is not a frail whippety dog, plenty of drive comes to mind, there's some pups in the ads section,i saw the litter and they were belters[beddy x grey dam]his owner knows more about running dogs than most, very genuine man. His track bred offspring are doing really well but the difference between a winner and loser on the track is s
  14. Just my own opinion mate, there was a thread all about beddy x's the other day and the majority agreed that they are better for having a bit of greyhound in them,he would probably be happy with a beddy whippet/grey,a lot of beddy/whippet owners said their dogs were strong willed, hardly ideal for a young lads first dog, ussually a bit bigger and stronger as well. Some grews are good dogs but they are very fast and a bit injury prone[can be suicidal] young lads tend to run them anywhere [did it myself] and its probably not the best choice. Staffy x's can be ok,a mate bred some and gave a f
  15. Didnt know Dura-Mitex had been banned, I know you can get something called "jeyes fluid" but i think its a new version not the old gear, got banned about the same time as real "creasote" i think? maybe im wrong, probably just as good anyway.
  16. I thought you could only get that in small bottles? can you get that in larger capacities? Aaron Yes mate it comes in small bottles but you dilute it with water, its very concentrated.
  17. If anybody went to hit your lad i think the "poodle" would show its true colours, nice dog mate.
  18. Not 100% sure but i think jeye's fluid has been banned? A mate swears by Dura-Mitex for sterilising kennels, but you have to follow the instructions properly, its strong gear.
  19. Some nice staffies there lads, ive had a couple in the past and really like the breed, Both mine were stolen and i decided not to get another, made me ill wondering what had happened to them,Theiving scum.
  20. Best of luck mate,digger
  21. Good legal info, like another poster has said, should be pinned.
  22. Being as youve never seen one of the original dogs or anything remotly related to them how would you know that? Im not talking about the modern stuff plummer ended up with they are completely different dogs,i am not interested in what Plummer did with the base stock,i wouldn't have one given. If youve got an axe to grind with Plummer terriers find someone who is interested in the breed,i never met Plummer and ive never owned a Plummer terrier,im just telling it how it is.
  23. The dogs getting the upper hand on you and you arent being dominant enough,i know some people wont agree with this but you need to teach the dog who's boss, This is what i would do depending on the age and temprement of the dog [you dont say the age] Get yourself a catapult and some plastic ammo [no acorns about now] not anything to heavy that could damage the dog in anyway, practice general obediance and if he disobeys clip him on the hind quarters with a shot from the catty, dont over do it though just enough to get the recall up to scratch,DO NOT use the catty for the first time when
  24. The "old stuff" my mate had was well tested, and so were the pups out of it,nobody knows what they were even Plummer probably didnt, dogs in those days were bred worker to worker, would the welsh lads who bred them keep putting rubbish in them? Im no fan of Plummer, but i guarantee 100% the stuff he brought from Wales was not rubbish, they had a bit of skin trouble but thats all you could pick fault with,Plummer was trying to create a distinct "type" he probably culled the best pups he ever bred imo.
