  2. very nice looking litter if you have any spare hobs could you let me know as I had my hob snipped earlier in the year and not going to work him again
  3. had to have dog pts. this morning she was having cramps every 20 mins or so the vet didn,t know what was causing it said it was for the best she spent another 2 days in vets and they couldn,t sort it out, absoloutly gutted
  4. thanks sandymere that links really helpful the vets thinking along them lines she hurt her neck panicking at the vets so didn't want to they stress her anymore she,s back at 5 on Monday
  5. the vets gave her intravious calcium last night with fluids last night and she was ok to come home today, ive got to give her 10ml of liquid calcium a day and take her back monday to check her blood again. they checked all her functions and all seemed ok, her diets mostly raw with gain 28 for 2 days a week. the raw consists of tripe, minced lamb, beef n liver, chicken, duck wings and lambs heads.
  6. just got the dog back from vets she came into season on Monday came in from work last night and she could hardly walk and her breathing was bad, got her straight in vet took some blood for tests came back really low calcium, the vet doesn't know if its to do with the season or not she gets a really good diet and plenty of bones is there any sort of additives I can give her to boost her calcium levels as I don't want to go threw this again
  7. sorry to hear about your loss r.i.p jenny
  8. my dogs stay with me usually the bitch i bred the litter from is now at my sisters after she broke her leg, but if she never wanted her she,d still be with me. my sons just been given a dog that never made the grade as a ferreting dog and shes only 8 months old shes like his shadow now and there for life
  9. my mate had a bitch out of Richard jones she ran everything in large numbers even took daytime hares
  10. ive kept a strain since 89 ive used 2 outcrosses in that time the first was a hob my mate got me from keeps he was a awsome worker from 6 month old but we waited till he was 3 to use him the second was a silver bitch i found she would stay until dug to so she went into the strain i kept a hob from her to go over my best bitch next year, i past the bitch on to a keeper to use he bred a good litter from her last year. i think the problems you get are with peaple not working ferrets for long enough before taking a litter from them ive had ferrets jack after 1 season from a kicking off a rab
  11. i use medium to large jills never had any problems with them not going to rats, the only ferret that ive had not go was a little bitch i was given last summer. ive kept pretty much the same strain of albino ferrets for nigh on 20 years the lad i got them off mostly used them for rats
  12. ive bolted rats for years with the ferrets only ever had one ferret badly bitten and that was when she got stuck betwen 2 rats came out with bites near her tail and round her face, treated her with antibiotics she was ok. i would only ever breed from a jill that works rats but thats just me i supose
  13. i prefer a stronger ferret, i used to keep smaller jills they would stay with a rabbit forever but didnt really have the size to hold a rabbit in a stop end, so often had to dig a few holes to get them. if your using a locater it doesn,t really matter what size ferret your using aslong as there strong enough to hold a rabbit
  14. a few years ago me and a keeper looked into breeding a gsd x grey litter a lad that beats with us is a fire arms officer for north yorkshire police, he got us permission to see all the dogs they had the pure gsd,s were all big heavy dogs he advised us if we were going to go ahead with the mating to use a mali or a mali x gsd as thats what they used on the army bases and were alot more athletic and focused and would probably make a better dog. my own opinion would be to cross a mali with a good working saluki would make a lighter more alround dog
  15. could you not try ringing any other vets in the area see if they do it, i had my hob vasectomised on monday as my vets said i had to buy the whole bottle of the jill jab as it didn,t keep. i have kept a jill in sason all summer before without any ill efects but that was before there were options most vets in the ,s didn,t know much about ferrets
  16. if the gsd is so good why do half police forces now use malanoi or cross them with gsd,s for police work as the gsd,s are not up to the job, unless your using imported dogs i wouldn,t bother.
  17. this is my pup for september hes 4 1/2 month old saluki bullgrey x collie grey whippet
  18. ask at your local vets about the jill jab it will bring her out of season so you should have no problem with her, as for breeding id give her at least 2 seasons working before breeding from her let her get to know you as you said youve not had her long.
  19. ive got my hob booked in at the vets tomorrow ,but thats a really good idea the vets i asked about the jill jab said i had to buy the full bottle as it wont keep once opened robing c#nts
  20. took another pick tonight only got the one as batterys died he,s just under 22 to the shoulder now and really well biult pick doesnt really show just how big his head is allready bigger than my bitches head, but couldnt be happier with him
  21. shes looking well heres a couple of mine from about 4 weeks ago now he will retreive anything he finds and walk off the lead at heal for miles, ive never had much trouble with his training except getting him to sit will try and get some more resent picks later today
  22. ive got loads of headges to do round the gamecrops so will be going for at least another 4 weeks to clear them out before the new crops are planted this year
  23. thats not a nice thing to see bird, i used to live on a major bus route so never taught my dogs to jump when i lived there always scared the of them going under a bus
  24. i work both albinos and polecat coloured ferrets now i find they both work aswell as each other ive always kept albinos but my mate got me a polecat hob off keeps a few years ago he,s now crossed into the albino bitches i had, i think its more important there from good working parents than anything to do with colour
  25. saluki bull/grey x collie/grey/whippet really pleased with his training up to now the only thing he cant grasp is sitting on command other than that he,s great
