  1. Spot on how many could really afford children if it wasn't for family allowance/tax credits ETC good job the NHS is free The NHS is not free. It is paid for by the tax paying public.
  2. Maybe he has promised the kid this holiday and it would bitterly disappoint the child to cancel it? How long of a delay in treatment are we talking about here....two days? two weeks? two months? Maybe a short delay will have little impact on the prognosis (good or bad) but the child may benefit from the holiday, is it the last holiday he is likely to have? I'ts impossible to say without knowing the facts.
  3. Looks ok. Don't forget regular worming. Good luck with her.
  4. I wouldn't be proud of a dog that behaved like that in public, it sounds dangerous, not 'a laugh' and could make you look a right tube. Dogs who are stressed and don't enjoy the social side of these gatherings would be best left at home.
  5. It also said on that show that the skinny bully's ma was demanding an apology.........maybe she needs some as well!

  8. Lamb chop? Pork chop? Karate chop?
  9. About the exchange rate.......why not just take the correct currency when you travel north or south - there are filling stations with cash dispensers north and south of the border...? Or just choose to leave your dogs at home or go to a dog show/racing which generally works out cheaper?
  10. @ mackay... What sort of things do the lurcher trials involve?
  11. I thought the internet had taken over the role of the CB! Like facebook, or indeed like this forum - instant correspondance with people from all over the world (or other planets in some cases )
  12. Hope she makes a good recovery mate. For future reference - who do you recommend as a greyhound vet? (PM if you prefer).
  13. any pics of the pond? sounds awsome Not at the minute, built it in 2002, used a new, at the time! Painted coat of fibreglass, took several attempts filling it and finding leaks before it was left for a month to get the chemistry right, introduced fish and by 2010 some of the fish were 3ft long, also introduced a 4ft Siberian sturgeon that is very tame and can be hand fed, along with the koi, they bred in 2005 and i housed the fry in an indoor pond for the winter and introduced them the following summer, they are now about 18 inches long. Started of with four drum filters and upgrade

  15. hahahahaha! I love this site - the craic is great! I'm off to feed the fishes............
  16. A rub down his front legs with a damp baby wipe should freshen it up.
  17. That is a very responsible attitude. Pity more people out there don't share it.
  18. Sounds about right. I've stopped stressing about my bitch that does it. I've tried stopping it by using pineapple, chasing and scolding it, changing diet etc but........it is just in its nature to do it
  19. A friend of mine was convinced their dog behaved like this - it was a big crossbreed thing and was kept outdoors. Never noticed it in my own, they are kept indoors.
  20. Fool........BUT........too many dogs are bred and passed from pillar to post like they are disposable items. What is the answer?
  21. Regarding the gundog events - I have been to fairs where they have been taking part in what appear to be organised events/trials, sometimes as teams or clubs. Are these gundogs entered and paid for in advance of the show? Are the owners issued with free passes in this case or do people just turn up and enter on the day, having paid to get through the gate? The terrier/lurcher events I have seen appear to be just turn up and pay your money if you fancy going into the ring for a particular class? There is no doubt about it, gamefairs can be an expensive day out, especially for families b
  22. A picnic area with plenty of bins and no dog shit, maybe a wee bit of music to help the atmosphere.
  23. I got a batch of pentland dells chitting at the minute. I was told as a guide to 'plant on St Patrick's Day, harvest on the 12th'
  24. Would anyone be interested in taking part if there was an obedience/working trial style competition which depends on having a well trained dog etc rather than a beauty or pure speed contest? For example walking to heel, jumping a hurdle, waiting, retreiving etc?
