  6. Good luck with your pup. As soon as you get it home, get it wormed, jabbed and onto good quality grub. Put the effort into training it and then keep us informed of its progress.....it will be what you make it!

  8. Have you ever had a pup before? Put it in a cage. It will soon learn not to piss in its bed . Any mess it makes will be in the one spot and the pup will be safe.
  9. I would look into behavioural training in addition to the neutering. At least if he is neutered he may still have a working career but a dog with unsound temperament should not be passing on his genes. Neutering and training sounds like a responsible move. good luck.

  11. My patt bitch is kennelled with a 3/8 5/8 bull dog and there mint together I am splitting them up soon but I think your problems only lie when food is concerned Atb digginmad I wouldn't take the chance. It is too easy to be complacent and then one day for no obvious reason there will be a war and you will not be there to intervene......
  12. If I ran a business I would want to know if I was potentially employing a convicted thief. I would also prefer not to have people in my house who were theives/perverts. For example if I hired a business to carry out wrok in my home.
  13. Brilliant! It will be so interesting to watch them over the season. Why not start a thread in the wildlife and photography section and put regular updates on for everyone to follow?
  14. The leaflet is sort of right, the Farmer is legally ALLOWED to shoot the dog but I would doubt that shooting a dog simply because it is in a field will mean that the Farmer is in the right, period. Just because your council has produced a leaflet doesn't mean that its correct Without getting into a legal debate about what the law says in black and white and what would happen in reality, it's fair to say, as I have already mentioned, that a dog can be shot if found worrying livestock but don't expect to shoot a dog, in whatever circumstance and assume that your going to have the full prote
  15. QUOTE FROM MY LOCAL COUNCIL BOOKLET ON DOGS: FARMERS' RIGHTS The law presently states that if a dog is found unaccompanied in field with livestock, and without the landowners consent, farmers are legally protected in shooting the dog on the spot. Likewise, if all reasonable attempts to restrain the dog has been taken the farmer is equally justified in shooting the dog. edited to add ( for those guilty but not shot on the spot): In rare cases a farmer may file a criminal prosecution: if the dog is proven guilty beyond doubt, a destruction order will be passed on the dog. 17. Do the birds live in cages like that long term or just sit in it for show?
  18. The woman who wants 2 - is she experienced with dogs? Trying to train 2 pups at a time can challenge even the most experienced. Give the pups a sensible chance to find a good home and not end up being passed round or in the pound
  19. Look on BBC news website under Northern Ireland section for an update. The owner said the dog could be aggressive with people?
  20. Littlefish, Point well made. If you run your dog on the Saturday you get a free ticket for Sunday - so you can enjoy two days at the show for €17 and choose whether or not you enter your dog and/or in how many classes on Sunday. As you say the choice is there. albertj Albert Well done for making the effort to put on events aimed at terrier and lurcher folk. Organising events of such size must take a lot of work. Hopefully it will be a success and go from strength to strength. I hope to get to Shane's castle. I had a look through your online magazine - there was a nic
  21. The scariest thing about it is the state of the place and the scarecrow living in it. Bloody scary alright!
  22. Tomato seedlings 2 inches high on the kitchen window. They will go in the greenhouse in a few weeks time. Pepper seeds planted at the same time have yet to make an appearance.
