I'd a pup broke its hock at 12 weeks - it was splinted and the strapping fell off/was pulled off every few days. With strict cage restriction and rest it healed perfectly. She is 10 years old now and has never once limped on it in all that time. She still has a few wee bald spots/scars around the hock - much like yours looks like. Keep it on a lead and don't encouarge it to run wild too soon. Good luck.
Good luck getting him back. Go personally to the dog pounds etc and look in the pens because the person who answers the phone may not understand your description of your dog. When you get him back put up a pen with a tight fitting roof
In Amsterdam Airport, waiting to board, watching it on CNN news on the big airport screens.........it wasn't until I landed back in UK a few hours later that I heard what was really going on there.
That's shocking. Was it stole from your garden? I wouldn't worry about a reward - anybody decent would just be happy to reunite your wee lad with his dog.
Good to see some oldies still fit and keen enough to go out. What do you think helps keep them this way........breeding, feeding, fitness? I personally think keeping them fit and not overweight helps, also good warm shelter.
I was just talking about this subject today in work. I hate highly strung springers that wiggle about and piss all over the place with excitement. Also dogs of any description with stupid long hair.
I have read this arguement for months - there is no easy answer to it obviously. So.............why not keep it simple..............Pedigree papered whippets should race at whippet racing clubs - where lurchers are not allowed to run and lurcher racing should be for lurchers or people who are happy to run thier 'whippet types' against dogs of a similar type/height. Such a lot of crying over something most people claim is supposed to be 'a bit of fun' over the summer.
I had a terrier pup break its hock at 12 weeks - pure accident. It was put in a splint, which it managed to pull off every few days, and was on cage rest for a few weeks after. It is 10 years old now and runs about like a 2 year old! Hopefully youth is on its side and it makes a full recovery. Good luck............and try to enjoy the rest of your holiday.
Kennels for mine too - I also leave a supply of food for them. That way I know they are securely locked in and not ramdomly fed fed on rubbish by well meaning friends/relatives. It is a big responsibility to leave them with people who might let them loose.
