  1. If you've got a lot of land already passed why do you need an open certificate? RicW
  2. Stop a charging cockroach in its tracks. Ric
  3. Some of the American small-bore websites are getting excited about these brilliant new Eley-Remington supersonics they've tested. Very pricey apparently . . . .Do you think someone waved a big fat contract at Eley? Perish the thought. RicW

  5. I used to use industrial ones that worked like that. Low level sounds came through, high level shut the baffles. Ric
  6. Take a look at the pinned Shotgun Certificate post at the top of this forum. Says it all! Ric
  7. Always goes to show mate, always ident the target before you pull the trigger, And well done for holding back until sure.... ATB. Snap. Too right. I read about a guy who killed his 14 year old nephew. Out lamping, picked up the lad's eyes, 22lr at close range. If in doubt don't. Ric killed his nephew? thats gotta be a hoax? who the hell lets there nephew run in front of a gun at night? nutters! As I recall - it was quite a while ago - two guys and the son of one of them were out lamping, and there was some kind of mix-up, to put it mildly. The coroner brought in acc

  9. I asked much the same Q a while back, about carrying a gun on a motorcycle. Slip cased, unloaded, bolt out, ammunition separate no problem. Might be as well to let the plod know but you don't have to. RicW
  10. Agreed HMR is not really a fox calibre. But will Beagle get a centrefire on his first FAC? Best bet might be to go for 22lr to start then put in for a variation for a CF in a year or two. Ric lr does ricochet though
  11. Aren't gallery rifles underlever and tubular magazine? Can't fit a moderator so hellish loud for fox! RicW
  12. Best way to fix a moderator is slip him a tenner.
  13. Apply for both. Tell your FEO you know the difference. If you only get one the choice is made for you! Ric
  14. When Shooting UK reviewed six 22lr subs they rated Eley tops RWS close second. Fastest was Remington but light weight meant poor penetration. RicW
  15. Put Mossberg Hushpower into the search box. Ric
  16. I take it the Beretta is a shotgun not a .303" calibre rifle ? . . . . . Ric
  17. They will probably ask you to give them written permission to contact your GP. Say yes, but meanwhile go to see him/her and get agreement that your depression was caused by your injury and has not recurred for three years. Ric
  18. Two points here. First your FEO is talking crap. Let's see. Because you have no experience you can't have a licence. Without a licence you can't get get experience. BOLLOX. If you have a permission to use, say, 22rf on land cleared for the calibre then the FEO has no legal right to refuse. Any way it isn't his decision, it's down to the chief constable. Calibre-wise 22lr for rabbits and small pest species, 17HMR likewise plus pigeons and corvids ON THE GROUND. Make clear that you wouldn't even think about taking a shot at a bird in a tree with a rifle. There's more to it all than that but that
  19. For despatching caged foxes that is! Ric
