I remember sitting in the vets with a ferret some years ago & there was a woman with her carer , the old dear had summat wraped in a blanket , so i assumed it was a dog or a cat , thought no more about it, then they go in to see the vet ..
they were in there a few mins & came out, it was a teddy wrapped in this blanket the old dear was saying there your all better now , i actually thought it was very good of the vet to be so professional , seems this teddy was the old dears world , there was no one in there with anything that needed urgent treatment , so it didnt really matter
