  9. so are you suggesting a natural diet is not satisfying the appropriate dietary requirements of ferrets? No. The statement you highlighted means that large quantities of muscle tissue would need to be consumed in order for a ferret to receive enough dietary Taurine. Are you a vet by any chance? No offence but your posts seem very similar to what vets spout when they're trying to get you to buy some of their expensive products that are totally unnecessary if an animal is eating what it should be eating naturally. Why exactly do you give your ferrets supplements if you're giving them
  10. had a lovely day in the sunshine, watched the horses & took some pics

  16. Sounds like dead sleep , something that ferrets seemingly do, fall into a deep sleep scaring the owners half to death , also its been hot today so make sure the hutch is pretty shaded as heat exhaustion can be a killer
  17. I love the first one its so lovely
  18. Did lots untill 4 or 5 years ago, mainly rabbiting & the odd bit of lamping, impossible for me now with no car, rabbits or anyone to help

Happy Birthday hope you have had a lovely day x
  20. The best swallows i could get last week after the hay had been cut
  21. I like the greyhound type but don't think they deserve a different name. I have seen litters with different sizes and shapes. When you hunt full euro ferrets how to you get them to come back to you and do you wear gloves? I doubt your ferrets look any better than mine no matter what name you give them. As for ferreting at night, I'd rather go lamping. I do lamp but rather use my hawks and rifles. The ferrets legs are too short and even my biggest hob is not fast enough lol. sure you keep greyhound ferrets they should be fast enough
  22. i honestly dont belive these eu polecats are true polcats,,, i have seen adverts for them and the adds always read vet checked,,, but ive never seen anyone actualy put up this supposed paperwork with blood test results. good thread by the way, ferrets should only be bred cos they work well, Totally agree with you there just dark ferrets , as i understand it the genetics is so similar that its almost impossible to differentiate between a ferret & a polecat, infact when the vincent trust did a whole load of reasarch in the 90's this was some of there findings In order to res
  23. was just going to say the stuff they make seat belts with, a decent wide strap so it dont dig in
  24. wouldn,t it be a "domesticated wild polecat" thats a classic oxymoron
  25. i can count on one hand the number of hobs i have had to keep seperate despite castrating, now jills on the other hand I have had many over the years that simply wouldnt mix regardless of time of year yours may settle in the autumn, if not then it looks like your going to move her on or keep her as a lone ferret
