  1. By far the best and most effective way of getting a ferret of .what would folk do out in a field with no water nearby ???> I wasnt in a field though was I & before you ask Bob no I dont work my ferrets
  2. Bit drastic Kay! Quickest way to get a ferret off is to put your hand around it's neck, lift your thumb over the back of it's head and on to it's forehead with the tip of your thumb level with it's eyes. Grasp and pull back with your thumb. This puts pressure on the mandibular nerve system, which leaves the ferret with no option but to open it's mouth. The ferret suffers no stress and no damage. Once you have worked out how to do this, it's fast, easy and 100% effective. John I had 12 deep puncutre wounds i wasnt in the mood to fanny about trying to prize its mouth open with m
  3. My hob did it to me last year , hadnt been aggresive before or since, just put it down to one of them days with him, quickest way to get a ferret off your flesh when its hanging on for grim life is submerge it in water , as this happed to me outside i always have a bucket if water filled up for the dogs so i just submerged the ferret in the water,
  4. Jan 11th. . . . . LAST YEAR! Kay - aye for some reason folk think a 6 month diploma in animal fiddling makes you the next James Heriot. Well i had a quick shufty online about polecats & trapping & according to the shooting times , a trapped polecat can be either shot of kept
  5. Not exactly woman of the moment are you. And sounds like you have a hard time reading, as he clearly said he did not trap it himself. Also when setting mink traps etc, where should the sign be afixed that says, "Dear Polecats, please do not enter my trap as DEFRA may get shirty" And maybe you should go to college, as last time i checked it was spelled 'doubt' rather that 'dought'. Why is it always a 'ferret lady' or 'ferret girl' ????? Fecking menace (Other than you Kay, you're sound as feck) Its clearly a bint who has done a few weeks on an animal husbandry cour

  13. yep there are loads of types Alpha, jwb, select, chudleys, merlin, some pet shops do their own which is a generic type(this is just a small list list there are more) u may have to try a few as some ferrets are fussy buggers thats why my lot are on vitalin, was about to order some this week through my pet shop, there should be some round for while whilst they clear warehouses and old stock i put a similar post yesterday as well I read on other forums about how people worry about dry food & whats the best , the ingredients lists go up, but i think surely if there so worried why dont t

  17. I agreee with you , i wouldn't want the hassal of having to jab every year , and risking a vasectomy not working or reversing , so saving now for neutering would be my way of doing it
  18. Implants are costing around 90 quid per ferret because there sedating the ferret to insert it, also there's no real ideas of knowing how long its going to last, there's a member on here who's hob was implanted & it lasted barely a year so he had him castrated rather than shelling out loads more money
  19. It will cost you more to feed a litter of 10 possibly more kits than it will to spey one female , you do the maths lol didnt think of that. I know im a noob but im confused about the actual casteration and the versecatmy thing. Can a casterated hob bring a jill out of season or is it varsectamised hob only that can do this? A castrate is where they remove the testes, so in theory they remove the sex drive , so normally a castrated male wont attempt to mate , a vasectomy is where they simply cut the tubes so the hobs firing blanks but he will still mate . but there's a risk with a
