If youve got a big enough gob to come on here bragging about that breed of dog and you do actually have the work for it, your gonna get locked up and the last thing that dog will feel is its leg being shaved and a needle! Whats gonna be the reason for this one being passed on when it doesnt make the grade?

Its just the way it is fella. Keepers hate lurchers as much if not more than foxes. I should imagine they did before the gun was even invented (in the kings hunting forests) and still will 500 years from now. The lurcher is the poachers dog and the poacher and keeper are old enemys, its really as simple as that! However, a steady fox killing lurcher really opens a keepers eyes, "my enemys enemy is my friend" and all that. There are keepers out there working lurchers, even keepers on some of the highest quality estates in the country as well as your more modest DIY keepers (like myself). In

Orston ground do lessons for 25 quid each, they usually want you to have 3 lessons for a complete novice untill they are happy for you to have a round on your own, but even then you will have the trapper with you so not totally alone. They should be able to lend you a club gun as well untill you decide which gun you want to buy yourself. All that said, its best if you can go with an experienced friend. All the best its a good crack.

Travellers BBC 2 Scotland MONDAY 11TH APRIL
Born Hunter replied to halloween man's topic in General Talk
The whole fecking country has gone Gypsy mad! Shame its because of the controversy as opposed to a genuine interest in the culture. I hope it doesnt do the image of coursing any more damage... -
These old pics of yours really are something special jigsaw! Did you only breed bull russels from her or any pure strong dogs?

The place will be heaving with English patriots, if the muslim extremists turn up the police will have a hell of a job protecting them!

PMSL!! HAHA In answer to the thread; I hunt because I enjoy the hunt in its many forms, it forfills an ancient instinct. I love the natural world, the countryside and working dogs, hunting makes me feel part of all that. Then there is the satisfaction of being able to go out and put food on the table. I think part of it is the male instinct to provide for his family but its a whole lot deeper than that and as such it isnt solely a male thing.

Is that incase one of the rabbits has a flick knife? FTB PMSL

thks mate, thats very kind of you to say. I am lucky enough that i only work mornings. So i can hunt in the week, then when weekend comes we can mooch about freely in the camper.. Cant beat being outside with the countryside.. Fancy swopping jobs? lol. Im sat on my arse at this desk from 8 till 4. Mind you, I dont waste the time Im not at work!

You get out and about alot RFYL! Nice pics and thanks for contributing to the site so much.

I regret not the things I've done, but those I did not do...

IMO a rifle either fits right or it doesnt. You can learn to shoot with a badly fitting rifle but why put yourself at a dissadvantage? Some rifles I pick up just dont sit right, practice brings it together but the feeling of knowing everything is 'right' gives the shooter confidence and confidence is an underated aspect of good marksmanship, something I dont hear mentioned very often.

Firstly I commend your attitude towards your sport and the respect you are showing for your quarry. To answer your question, 'Total Airgun Hunting' by Pete Wadeson has a section in which he takes you through the months of the calendar and what each month brings for the air gunner and the farmer/keeper. Its only a small part of an extensive book but it sounds like what you're after. Im gonna try to get my copy back off of a loan that has lasted FAR too long now, lol. Haven't read it in at least 2 years but imo a very worthwhile addition to any air riflemans bookshelf.

Precision air rifle shooting is NOT as easy as some would have you think. Just make sure you know the basics about taking a shot with a rifle, breathing, trigger control, muscle fatigue etc and just practise. Ive just got myself a knew rifle after an 18 month spell away from the sport and Getting out on the practice range is my only consideration at the moment. Last night I put a small session in and managed to get 5 shot groupings of 0.5" at 30m, however inconsistently! So more time is needed, braking this new rifle in AND reminding my body and mind how to shoot properly again, lol. Just

Ya gotta laugh at these idiots. Rather than wade through the shit left by the last bunch of halfwit thieves and deal with it they would rather carry on as before and pretend the shit isnt there, letting it pile up further! They dont like the reality of the shit we are in and so the first jumped up prick to publicly opose it, the masses back. Regardless of the fact that its bullshit! Economics really aint that complex in this case, we're up to our eyeballs in debt so stop fecking spending and suffer hardship untill we are out of it!
-
very responsible attitude!
-
Agree entirely

Your right in what you say and all too often people use the excuse of 'pest control' to shoot in the summer months. My situation is this, im out from late September to late Feburary ferreting and lamping, and I try to make as much of an impact as possible but as soon as the kits are about I call it for the season. Now then, already Ive had phone calls off of the shoot captain on one of my permissions asking for me to get some more ferreting done as the rabbits are showing in numbers! I wont ferret this time of year as I dont find it very productive and generally its a right ball ache, tryi

Yeh, it is IMO. Well worth the little it costs!

There is a line of thought that by not having ya dogs chipped stops trouble being brought to your door if a heavily marked dog does a runner. Some people arnt willing to take that risk. Personally I dont go along with it, I would sooner get my dogs back.

Not being funny pal, but have you ever seen a kc lakey? They are worlds away from even half arsed bred working lakeys. Also, you do know you can show non kc lakeys at the hundreds of country fairs there are, along with all other types of working terrier.
