Failing that, mackam's morning sounded sweet!

Waking up with a semi naked beautifull woman in my bed with the sun breaking through the open window and that feeling of realising you havnt got work when you thought you had would do me nicely. Can think of worse starts....

Truly Inspirational - save 5 lives in 5 minutes!
Born Hunter replied to huffhuff's topic in General Talk
I ticked the box when I got my driving licence, but I'll reregister just to make sure. I personally think that we should adopt a policy where concent is assumed unless you opt out. Why people worry about what happens to their body after death is beyond me. A corpse is a fecking corpse! But it could literally save lives. Feed my rotting body to fecking rats for all I care. -
Theyre used for breaking the dog off of its quarry. Ive only seen one dog which would need one, all others Ive seen loose interest rapidly after the quarry is dead. Mostly used with terrier blooded dogs. Pretty standard kit for those that worked strong dogs from what I understand. Im sure those in the know will explain in more depth.

Ferret demolished neighbours cat....
Born Hunter replied to shoota matt's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
I had something similar except mine did not kill the cat. Woke up one night to an almighty racket looked out and in the court was a cat being ragged to fook by two 1kg plus hobs and three jills I ran downstairs and out side and the cat managed to escape up the fencing panel with one of the hobs attached to it's arse end. Checked the ferrets over not a mark on them so was very lucky. but in my stupidity I never used to shut them in at night prefering to give them free rein after that I didn't take the chance. One of the same hobs got hold of my old neighbours large "staff" the sire of my bitch -
Healthy looking litter. How are these den terriers expected to work considering their size. I understand you have a much wider variety of diggable quarry than us in the UK but would one of these 6-10lb terriers really be expected to work a hormonal dog fox that dont wanna bolt? Do they learn to work harder quarry more sensibly considering their size? Just curious, they sound a real usefull size.

i knew it would be frustrating
Born Hunter replied to honesthunter's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Nice honest post. Dont think your on your own pal and dont think it wont all come together eventually. The pup may well develop a few faults but nothing too serious as long as you use your head. Dont get frustrated and angry with the pup, it wont achieve anything and Im speaking from experience, lol. You will probably learn more from this dog than any other. -
I dont particularly hate anything, but people that cant seem to agree to disagree without resorting to distastefull comments tend to rub me up the wrong way. We're all different and live by different morals, the site would be alot more pleasant if everyone understood that.

Were you at the belvoir hunt open day this year with Will G?
-
Yeah right You wouldnt appreciate a dog of this caliber . They use fox brushes and bog role and stag antlers as toothpicks. Bull crosses will be forgotten about inside a fortnight.

Fire one over a 34" deerhound bitch and BOSH! ........ Single handed red stag dogs!

I think you will find you are wrong. Only deer and birds your not allowed to lamp. It is illegal to take Game by artificial light. In this respect hares are classed as game. So stop it all you naughty boys. above post

"Under the Hares Act 1848 and Hares (Scotland) Act 1848 it is an offence for 'anyone to use any firearm or gun of any description at night for the purpose of killing game'. This is an additional offence to night poaching where game is being shot during the night, which begins one hour after sunset to one hour before sunrise. The Ground Game Act (as amended) and The Agricultural (Scotland) Act 1948 appear to override the prohibition on night shooting of hares by occupiers or persons authorised under the Acts." http://www.basc.org....ice/lamping.cfm Its legal to shoot hares on the lamp f

Im not questioning you personally judge, sounds like you have done a good deed and the dogs usefull to boot. Just heard the 'bandogge' name dropped a few times recently and curiosity got the better of me.

Whats the crack with these bandogges then? How are they any better than an alsation, rotty or doberman? They sound more like a pig dog than a gaurd dog. Is it not just a recreation of the original bullmastif? Which in todays climate would be more inclined to kill an intruder than aprehend him...... no? Im not knocking them, to have an old school bull mastiff patrolling my yard would be spot on. But are these 'recreations' really any better than the tried and tested breeds mentioned?

"Justice Secretary Ken Clarke has said a householder who knifes a burglar will not have committed a criminal offence under plans to clarify the law on self-defence in England." http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-13957587

True, not nice having one of your possessions taken by a shitbag though is it. A bit worrying to think someone could get into your house so easily aswell though because next time it might not just be a car theif! Exactly, goods are easily replaced, often the greater damage is the effect of realising that the one place you feel safe in the world you no longer are. On a similar note, hasnt Cameron said something about clearing up the laws in favour of home owners so we can defend our propertys without worry of prosecution?

Pups been attacked pretty badly
Born Hunter replied to Cold Ethyl's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Make your own mind up; "That same year, one of Ueno's students (who had become an amateur expert on the Akita breed) saw the dog at the station and followed him to the Kobayashi home (the home of the former gardener of Professor Ueno — Kikuzaboro Kobayashi[3]) where he learned the history of Hachikō's life. Shortly after this meeting, the former student published a documented census of Akitas in Japan. His research found only 30 purebred Akitas remaining, including Hachikō from Shibuya Station. He returned frequently to visit the dog and over the years published several articles about Hac -
Pups been attacked pretty badly
Born Hunter replied to Cold Ethyl's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
That famous akita was called Hachiko, he went to the trainstation everyday for 9 years in the hope of meeting his master off the train. He died of cancer still waiting for his masters return. I cant imagine loyalty like that... Ive got friends that used to have akitas and they have had their dogs bowed to by japanese tourists. They didnt have a clue why untill they looked deeper into the breeds cultutral history. -
Dietry fibre and healthy digestion.
Born Hunter replied to sandymere's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
I skimmed the post but gotta say what I took away I agree with sandy. My dogs hate grated raw veg but happily eat cooked veg left overs. I also occasionally add a small amount of a grain based food. I think the argument with raw veg is that a wild canids primary source of plant matter is the stomachs of its prey, as you have said, and this veg matter is not in the true sense raw. Cooking is surely the closest we can get to this natural source of plant matter? -
