Poaching is always an emotive subject, its gone on for hundreds of years and there is a huge difference between the one for pot type poacher and those who have no respect for the land, the countryside or its quarry. But i think to compare a poacher to somebody who steals bikes off children, robs old ladies etc is clearly overdramitising the situation............ I cant answer that because I dont know gnasher. What I do know is the world is a very different place now compared to 20-30 years ago. The 80s was arguably the hayday of the lurcher by all accounts and I should think the dogmen were much more approachable and accepting of complete novices? Of course even back then there would have been litters bred from shit and advertised as grafters, probably not as many as there are now. My point still stands though, how does a young lad with no contacts in the game get into it? When you have a dog you can make the contacts much easier by inviting lads

Most of em arnt out to make big money, they just have some wierd obsession with breeding pups and sell what ever they dont want for the going rate. I really dont get it but thats just some peoples mentality. I've heard people say they believe all bitches deserve to have at least one litter, that the terrier is a f****r for fighting other dogs so will easily battle a fox, that the dogs got a top 5 gen ped so the pups will be decent (even though the parents were less than average) etc etc. These people dont realise what they are doing is just plain f*****g wrong. Many young lads buy their first dog from the likes of this site. Without that they would find it very hard to get into the game and make the contacts that allow you the privelige of being gifted well bred pups. There are some genuine pups/dogs advertised on this site as well as the dealers shite. The way forward is to stay vigilant and not feel like a c**t asking the obvious questions on all for sale threads. Perhaps also a pinned thread giving advice to newbies when buying their first pup/dog on what to ask and best practice when a worker/pup is being rehomed. That said.....are we

Ferreting and mixing in the shooting scene, be it beating or keepering. Personally I find keepers a bit hit and miss, they love ya ferreting but can be a bit funny about lamping, but the contacts they have with local farmers means word gets around FAST often leading onto farmers with no birds that are more willing to let you lamp. My lamping partner also gets a hell of alot of varied permission through hunting, with his family being in hunt service he knows all the land owners. Hes a bloody diamond and my season would be alot poorer without him!

aye very good mate,you changed it.im not f*****g blind. it doesnt say he edited it,also look at what you quoted. him editing it wouldnt change what you quoted. i know what i f*****g saw blan.and so does he he even spelt paedo as "PEDO" I dont know how he done that then,because if you were to edit what i've quoted here,it wouldnt change whats in my post. it also doesnt say he's edited it which i thought it always did. i suppose its possible he edited it just before you quoted him and you didn't notice,but that still doesn't explain why it didn't say welsh nutte

I ticked the box when I got my driving licence, but I'll reregister just to make sure. I personally think that we should adopt a policy where concent is assumed unless you opt out. Theyre used for breaking the dog off of its quarry. Ive only seen one dog which would need one, all others Ive seen loose interest rapidly after the quarry is dead. Mostly used with terrier blooded dogs. Pretty standard kit for those that worked strong dogs from what I understand. Im sure those in the know will explain in more depth.

I had something similar except mine did not kill the cat. Woke up one night to an almighty racket looked out and in the court was a cat being ragged to fook by two 1kg plus hobs and three jills I ran downstairs and out side and the cat managed to escape up the fencing panel with one of the hobs attached to it's arse end. Checked the ferrets over not a mark on them so was very lucky. but in my stupidity I never used to shut them in at night prefering to give them free rein after that I didn't take the chance. One of the same hobs got hold of my old neighbours large "staff" the sire of my bitch -
Healthy looking litter. How are these den terriers expected to work considering their size. I understand you have a much wider variety of diggable quarry than us in the UK but would one of these 6-10lb terriers really be expected to work a hormonal dog fox that dont wanna bolt? Do they learn to work harder quarry more sensibly considering their size? Just curious, they sound a real usefull size.

Nice honest post. Dont think your on your own pal and dont think it wont all come together eventually. The pup may well develop a few faults but nothing too serious as long as you use your head. Dont get frustrated and angry with the pup, it wont achieve anything and Im speaking from experience, lol. You will probably learn more from this dog than any other.
