  1. I can't be doing with paying someone to do it. I'm pretty confident I can do it myself. If I have to pay a fitter it's not happening at all I'm afraid. I just know that if you don't have them fitted by a registered fitter you are meant to get the building inspector in to give it the nod. I wonder if it is possible to get a qualified fitter in to check it over?
  2. A house isn't a home without a proper fire. I'm looking to get one fitted asap. Been gathering info on building regs etc and pricing up what I need. Just a case of getting the stuff in and having the bollocks to do it now. Looking at a small 4KW one with a full flu linner. Does anybody know what the crack is with getting a building inspector to give it the nod?
  3. Those brindles are nice. Particularly that big dark brindle. Very healthy looking pups there fella!
  4. I dunno what the right course of action should have been. Hindsight is always viewed with 20/20 vision. Bombing the shit out of them would have knocked them back but left the whole country hating the west and not just the taliban and so probably caused a sudden surge of wannabee terrorists. I dunno, but something had to be done. It's not like previous wars where the enemy wear a marked uniform and two countries fight it out untill one surrenders. The manual is still being written on how to dig out and kill these new age terrorist organisations......
  5. I didn't take it to be disrespectfull. I know that Poacher has the respect for all past and present British troops. I know what you are both saying but I think they have been tasked with a hell of a difficult job. Western forces will allways have an influence in that country from now on for the very reason you mention. Untill at least they feel there is no longer a threat. It's a shithole but military action had to be taken. I'm not sure what else could have been done.
  6. The dog looks a little light but I would'nt say "starved" ffs. Besides, some terriers are hellish light naturaly. I know of a crossbred thing that looks like a 14" bully whippet!
  7. I think that's a bit of a bold statement Poacher. After 911 should we have really not done anything? I would'nt say any ISAF troops are dieing in vain. "Lest we forget"
  8. Ashington...... is that the place that's been said to have more lurchers than people? I would imagine whoever owns the dogs will have a very good idea of those responsible. I'll put money on it being a disgruntled keeper or farmer taking the law into their own pathetic hands. I doubt the police will be able to do much with it being a shotgun. I would'nt like to be the fella who gets the fingure pointed at him after closing in the pub......
  9. It's not suprising if you watch the big bang theory. His manorisms in the recent series have been a bit camp at times. That said, I could'nt give a fooook. He's a brilliant actor in my opinion.
  10. The important people have given you the okay. Worst case scenario the dog is not suited to it and you look a twat for a drive get grumbled at and learn that ya dog isn't right for beating. We've all been there, lol. Let us know how you get on.
  11. Thanks for those links. It's been of particular interest for my current situation with my dog. Interesting sites anyway.
  12. Pin firing? Is that where you use an irritant on the foot to increase healing? Or some sort of surgical pinning?
  13. key word routine once you`ve got a kenneled dog into a routine its relativley easy -- mine are out at 6 in a morning light feed and away then out for an hour at night weekends are differant but same rountine 7 days a week and they know when its a weekend Bang on there stig. The dogs tend to be a bit more flexible at weekends. You just get a feel for the dogs and their behaviour and act accordingly. I understand new owners panic a bit and worry, I did. But owning a dog really isn't that big a deal imo. Get the dog in a routine and it'll be as happy as a pig in shit with your situation S
  14. Some people make owning a dog sound like hard work. FFS there's no that much to it really is there...... Sterls, your situation is perfectly fine and the dog will be more than happy with it. I would advise you to build a kennel but it's not neccessary. Keep to a routine and the dog will be fine. You'll figure out the rest with experience.
  15. the only difference between the british and the jews in that respect, is that the jews have the balls to admit they do it. the british security services can hold their own with any country in the world, when it comes to sanctioning murders. ..............alternatively you could say the British have the sense to deny it...... Mossad so blatantly don't give a shit, the SIS/MI6 have a bit more sense than that. Secret Services lack a bit of secrecy when they admit to everything.
  16. She still has all her digits for the time being. The X-rays showed a nasty dislocation between P1 and P2. So, no brake.... The hope is that the joint will tighten and scar sufficiently to keep the joint stable. Realistically without some serious ligament surgery nothing can be done. If the joint doesn't stabalise then the toe is coming off. The vet said that there is a chance so I'm going with it. Ya can't put it back on once it's off. I'm getting a copy of the X-ray that I'll stick up for anyone interested. Also gonna send it to a third party I have been speaking to.
  17. Will it shut the f**k up on the lead though? Nobody wants to hear a dog whining all drive. Ive seen a few terriers on shoots.......all flushed game but were uncontrolable, but then again they were not bushing dogs. They done there job at the shoot though as the shoot in question was a hardwood shoot with alot of fern cover and the birds didnt really have a flushing point so they put forward a steady amount of birds. Basically the guy let them go at the start and got them at the end of the drive... Lab, there's a lot of uncontrolled terriers out there! I'm not kidding anybody, my dog isn
  18. I hope you're right. I was looking into getting a pup on over the summer anyway. I'll know by the end of this season whether she is right or not hopefully. It'll make getting a pup a little less urgent.
  19. Well, she's been in this morning and I made it clear that I wanted amputation as a last resort. I'd rather have tried to mend it if at all possible and have it off later if it wasn't right. I'm back at the vets at 5 as he wants to speak to me about the x-rays but the impression I got was that the vet has in fact amputated. I had to get family to collect the bitch so not had chance to speak to anyone to confirm. The toe looked bad on Sunday night though so I wouldn't at all be suprised if it was smashed to bits and had to come off. I'll have to let you know this evening. She'll be four in s
  20. Did he not set about a nonce in broadmoor or rampton as well?
  21. And they said Clive Sinclairs C5 would take over from the car !! LMFAO !! Not every new innovation is a world beater !! Cheers. You're right, they aren't all the future. But no body learnt a thing by not having a go..... The military are well known for supporting and funding 'mad scientists'. Surely you can see the advantage of legged vehicle over a wheeled one? Rocky alpine terrain would completely f**k a wheeled vehicle! With a few more years work whats to say that 'beatle' can't scale a 6 foot sheer cliff in exactly the same way a bug would something of relative heig
  22. I'm sure they said the same about the automobile when it was first invented. Why would anyone chose one of those over a decent horse? It's innovative!
  23. My little black bitch is a bit of a celebrity in the shoot caravan after the days sport. She's a cracking little dog for beating but obviously has her limitations and I'm not going to kid anyone that she's the equal of a good spaniel. When a fox is about it's my little bitch that is called for over the radio. This saturday one drive was a complete write off because of a dog fox which dropped into a drain at the end of the drive, this fox would'nt have been accounted for if not for my terrier. IMO a steady terrier deffinately has it's place on a shoot day, just be sensible and know when to put
  24. Bitches tend to get a natural rest with their seasons but I can imagine some dogs may suffer from keen owners. I would imagine most people let there dogs relax a bit over the summer. Keeping them mooching about and what have you should keep them tight and ready to start light work but once the hunting season picks up the dogs peak condition will come with work.
