  1. works both ways if you call someone out to buy your scrap car you will have to take a cheque aswell Since when have you had to take a cheque to sell a car to a third party? Besides, f**k giving somebody else the scrap money!
  2. Sad fact is plenty of dogs are shot every year because they aren't fit to go to a vets.
  3. Shame that, now all the tax dodging scrap men are gonna have to chip in to the system like the rest of us.....
  4. It wasn't edge of your seat stuff was it. I don't think it was expected to be though. Anybody watch the MMA afterwards? Never really bothered with it before tbh. I though Reid was lucky to win, it wasn't the easy fight it was meant to be.
  5. Playing Russian roulett with a semi auto gets the message across pretty quick too......
  6. You do what you want fella. But I would say right now is no time to be making rash decisions, we've all been there. Let ya world level out before you do anything. See the end of the season out on your shoot, that's something you have to be proud of right there!
  7. I've been watching it through XBMC mate, you have to go on the site and download the programme/software and then you are able to search/watch all sorts. I'm affraid I'm not very clued up on these things. I'm sure it'll be on any of the 'file sharing' website. Graham might be able to help you out with where he is watching it?
  8. As was to be expected where game was so plenty, wolves and coyotes also abounded. At night they surrounded the camp, wailing and howling in a kind of shrieking chorus throughout the hours of darkness; one night they came up so close that the frightened horses had to be hobbled and guarded. On another occasion a large wolf actually crept into camp, where he was seized by the dogs, and the yelling, writhing knot of combatants rolled over one of the sleepers; finally, the long-toothed prowler managed to shake himself loose, and vanished in the gloom. Just one extract I managed to find
  9. I've seen it mentioned that Custer and Roosevelt allegedly hunted wolves with their stags.......... I don't want to start this shite again but it is documented 'apparently' in Roosevelts book Hunting the Grisly and other Sketches. Maybe they were a bit liberal with their definition of the word 'wolf'........
  10. A Defra spokesman said: "This research adds to existing scientific evidence that bTB (bovine TB) is transmitted between cattle and badgers. No country in the world has successfully got to grips with the spread of this disease without tackling it in the wildlife population. That is why the Government remains fully committed to culling badgers in two pilot areas." What they don't mention is that the Uk is one of the only countries with badgers that even bother to protect them!..... never mind with prison time! Bonkers!
  11. Ah right. Earlier on in the series (1st or 2nd episode) they caught a wolverine and chapped it on the head first so he could get a steady clean shot with the 22 in the back of the head. I assumed they used the snare on the lynx because knocking it on the head would have been harder with a lynx fighting like that.
  12. Honestly? Yeah I do, the Conservatives promised a lot and produced nothing! If they had just given us the referendom on the EU we were promised they would be viewed 10 times better than they are. Even in the last election it wasn't a case of the Cons winning but Labour loosing. It's a sad state of affairs. Milliband may be a complete wanker leading a party of wankers but the good old faithfull British public keep voting for them.
  13. He's still got 12 months suspended sentence, I think anything above a caution is harsh considering the circumstances. Not sure why he had a 'large' amount of ammunition though......
  14. I agree. Let the dog get hold, then blow its brains out safely, or stick the knife in. Again....easy to say after the event, but in the split second to take the decision, he did what he had to do. I'm not judging him, that video raises more questions than it answers. I just feel the shot was bloody dangerous. And to be honest the dog seemed like it was just guarding the unconcious man, it didn't look to really want to kill anybody. That said, the man obviously needed attention so the dog had to be dealt with some how.
  15. No idea what the circumstances were but one thing I will say is the shot seemed f*****g wreckless! I would like to think I would take a bite off of a dog before shooting towards a crowd of people simply to protect myself.
  16. See what you think to it Ian, but give it a fair shot. There are bits where ya think they are drum it up a bit for tv but on the whole I liked it. Edited; I don't know much about fur trapping, how would a pro have dealt with a lynx in a foot hold?
  17. Stan's 21 yr old lad joey goes bear den hunting......... which involves him crawling head first down a bear's den with an AR-15 and a torch!!! First winter was so hard he had to cull and eat his entire dog team! Just a few snippets.
  18. My mate who is clued up about all this stuff told me about it, he's watched the last frontier and said it's good too but not as much hunting/trapping as Yukon Men. I've been watching it with XBMC.
  19. Anybody else watched season 1? Follows the village of Tanana in the Yukon. Proper subsistence survival living! It follows a few familys through the year, fur trapping for their income, hunting for meat, fishing for winter food and their dogs feed, collecting drift wood and more. They hunt black bear, grizzly, wolf, lynx, wolverine, beaver etc etc! Even shows how dangerous their world is when one man doesn't make it home from the annual goose shoot and how their community deal with such a tragedy. Best series I have watched in a long time but i don't think it's shown in the UK. Probably
  20. A liner is often considered necessary with a log burner (even when using a chimney from an pre existing open fire) because modern log burners are something like 90% efficient where as an open fire is something like 20% efficient. So, with an open fire % of the heat is in the smoke and so the smoke and gasses leave the chimney very quickly through convection. Obviously the efficiency of a modern burner means the smoke and gasses going up the chimney are a lot cooler and in such a relitively large space they can and do condense before leaving the chimney. This can cause a build of of shite in yo
  21. I would poo myself! The Exorcist shits me up and that is too similar! That's a brave girl imo. Scaring somebody that badly wont always end in screams and cowering, the wrong person may very well belt the girl in complete terror genuinely thinking she is some sort of demon!
  22. Good to hear. It sounds like you'll smash previous years then. They syndicate won't let you leave! Our main crop is a sorry sight too. Other smaller patches that were looking worse initially have been great. We rely quite heavily on natural cover, something I would personally like to improve on, but that's labour intensive and is 3-5 years before it starts to pay off.
  23. Insurance is great if you have one dog. But if you have 4 dogs or more at 10-15 quid per dog per month it's pissing money away. You're better off saving the money up yourself imo. If my dogs were any good I'd maybe consider it.
  24. It doesn't make sense to me. Not many laws do but there is usually some sort of logic behind them, albeit flawed logic. So it's aparently illegal to have a dog in your enclosed yard that bites an intruder but legal to walk outside with a kitchen knife, fearing for your property and family, and stick all 12 inches of it straight the the b*****ds ribcage?....... while fearing for your familys safety of course.
