I wish we were! Fact is, we aint! Any number of 'sportsman' would throw another to the wolves to save their own skins. That saddens me because I enjoy a fairly broad number of fieldsports. I'd start with fishermen and clay shooters first, then plenty of other shooters can be like that as well. Just go look at the pompous and pious bulls**t on a certain other forum! Not just those, dog lads and hunting men can be as bad. How many hound men would support a keepers right to lamp fox? How many coursing lads would support a shoots right to shoot hares? The list goes on............... -
No you're right it's not their fault. I don't blame any of them for taking advantage of the weak system. I do however blame them as individuals for abusing our culture and native peoples. And again, just because we did the same in history, I feel no ethical obligation to sit by and take it on the chin.

I don't care what Britons of yesteryear did and I'm not taking the blame or responsibility for it either. The problem we have now has jack shit to do with the British empire. hows that then???.............. There isn't a way of explaining it, no more than there is a way of explaining love or paternal/maternal instincts. I mix mostly with shooters, some are into hunting with dogs side of things but not majorly, to them the pinacle of sport is the driven bird, to me it's a good daytime hunt. They are just wired differently, same as non hunters. I like to think I'm pretty respectfull of other views and occasionally find myself trying to explain why I do what I do to non hunters and purest shooters............. simple answer is, you're either a hunter in your blood or you're not............. if y

Has anybody had a dog that jacked from the off on a certain quarry and was given chance but written off as no good for that quarry run on on what it was good at and then years later at 3, 4, 5 etc decided to self enter and go alright? Recent events (nothing of great significance but got me thinking) reminded me of Darcy's Scooby that entered to fox at 3 after previously being written off on them. I'm only interested in people experiences, I don't care if you think such a dog should be culled or if you had a dog that was just entered late or what the breeding implications are of breedin

I'm amazed that fox came off so easily. If you have ever had to detatch a fox from a dog you will know it takes a bit more than a little tug. He'll have a TV contract soon! Steve Irwins illegitimate child? lol. In fairness I bet it quite a rush catching some of those critters.
