My only point is, if somebody said "Murray, the pride of British Tennis" everybody would agree. Or "Wales, the pride of British Rugby" would be begrudgingly agreed with after a lot of banter and piss taking. But nobody would take either as a personal insult to their home nation. I just don't see why anybody should but those that do are often not English, like I said, any hint of the English behaving superior is taken like we just shagged ya daughter, when it's just banter....

LOL okay then, so rather than take it as banter, you take it personally? I thought it was just a joke? Not a personal insult to the Welsh and Scots. Just seems to me, it's alright to give it if you're anything other than English but as soon as the English give any hint of superiority it's a f***ing hate crime! LOL. You know what, I really don't care I just hate seeing this antipathy between us all. It might start with sport but that feeling feeds and shapes British politics.

If the liner is going up an existing chimney I can't see it being an issue? It wont be in contact with anything flammable. chimneys in had a coal fire in it till a few year ago ... You should still consider a liner though mate. I know opinion differs but the basic argument behind the liner is that because burners work at about % efficiency whereas open fires only work at about 20% efficiency, an open fire has % of its heat going up the chimney which takes the smoke out very efficiently, the burner only has 20% of its heat going up the chimney so the smoke can condense in such a bi

I've never fitted one Stig but I'm told that it's no great difficulty if you're half way handy with DIY, It's no specialist skill, just follow the regs and do a bit or preparation. I've got a plumber mate that I lamp and hunt with, he's all certed up and has fitted a few now and said he'll put me right when I need him which is dead handy. I'd get a pro to make the gas safe (I'd take no fecking chances with that stuff!) then fit the burner yourself if you feel confident. The labour is half the cost to have one fitted, it's extortionate!

As with the burner's you get different spec liners I believe. Different diameter and different life span ratings and then you better make sure you measured it right because they have to be one continuous piece apparently with no joins? I'm looking to sell up and move to a small rural place in the near future and I'll deffo be having a quality log burner fitted but there's no fecking chance I'll be paying for the work to be done! LOL.

Do you want the whole job done? Chopping out, new half, burner fitted and fire place tarting up? You want a liner fitted? There's some simple equation to work out what size burner you need, I think 8kW should be fine for that but depends if you want it for fixed up to a back boiler or CH.... My folks had one fitted and didn't see much change from £3k! LOL

Aye, but lead poisoning isn't cyanide poisoning. It takes a few years in humans, and waterfowl to die of it. Was wondering if it was similar for stinkers or if they would just be fine because of the way they eat. Who mentioned cyanide? LOL

Yeh got one for my dog...I figured he couldn't hear my 2000 decibel whistle when he was running 800m in to the next field. Not entirely sure if he know's how to answer it but I have a good feeling that his recall with get better Hmmm I get ya mate.
