Hang on, I think this is getting a bit out of hand and risks making UKIP policy look like something it is not. They HAVE NOT suggested a wild west policy of concealed carry permits for lethal pistols. They do however want to de-restrict non lethal self defence aids for this purpose. They want the legalisation of firearms for home defence. Which at the very least would be a shotgun. Now based on the fact that we have these readily available already and we are already allowed to use them for home defence why then should it not be acceptable to apply for one solely for the pur

I'm handling radioactive sources in the morning so I really need to get some kip!

So you would prefer to engage an intruder with either bat/knife or just ya bare hands, rather than give yourself a clear power superiority by arming yourself with a firearm? Given the choice, I'd be picking up a legally owned CQB 12 gauge or pistol. The greater my level of superiority in a violent situation the happier and safer I'll be.

Never! Progress never stops, we learn a bit more every year. Questions to which today we say "we don't know", tomorrow we say "we now know". Keep pushing the limits of human knowledge with reason and logic. Beyond todays limits there's the unreasonable and unexplainable 'God'............. untill we extend that limit a bit further and replace the unreasonable with reason.... ok maybe i phrased that wrong.......at what stage do you say " no more progress is being made "......i get back to what i said about the 2 leading astro physicists who basically said we are now back to square one..

It is, but how can you prove or dissprove something that is beyond reason and understanding? Or have I missunderstood what God is? If God can be explained by science then I'm not sure that he is indeed God, as something must have created him.... Now even I'm struggling..... LOL

I was trying to, that's why I asked you the initial questions.... It's a forum so forgive me for engaging in conversation.

I don't believe it will be like that though Scott. They would become part of the the FAC process which depending on constabulary can be very strict. Anybody that is anything but an upstanding member of the public would not get near one. Deer stalkers are required to go through the appropriate mentoring or training, it'd make sense for pistol/shotgun owners that own the weapons for defence to have to go through a similar course. At the very least, legalise shotguns for home defense. Nothing more than is already available now.

Of course, intelligent creation is a possibility. However, is God not by definition beyond reason and science? If science finds some intelligent force governed by the laws of physics like the rest of the universe then I'd not consider that God. Would you? It's simply another form of intelligent life that created our universe through a advanced level of scientific knowledge. I just don't see how a scientific approach of reason and logic can give an answer that is by definition beyond reason and explanation?

LOL, I should have every right to kill the bin theif Scott! f***ing low lifes! LOL The examples of abuse of legal guns could happen right now mate. Should we ban shotguns to be on the safe side?

Well you've flat out lost me, I was just evaluating your idea of a reasonable level of fitness. I do that because I'm sorta interested in it, so tend to take notice of folks opinions. f**k it, forget I spoke.

Some of them were. Would so much property have been damaged if British citizens were allowed to legally defend themselves, meeting force with force? and thats my point exactly,we have cops for that. its the uk mate not f*****g dodge city lol And that system works does it Scot?

The poster of those expected results did not mention an average human....you did. But I'm right in what I have inferred from your post? So, you believe the average squaddie possesses anything more genetically than the average human? Which was my point. I'm not looking for an argument mate, I'm sure you know more than I do about fitness. Just discussion.

I've had a quick run through of that in my head, now suppose on average you take 0.66s per press up and 0.66s per sit up, that's obviously 3 in every 2s so 133s total. That means you have little over 6mins to run 1.5mi right? That's a 4 minute mile..... You don't think that's outrageous for the average human?

Interestingly there are Glocks owned on FAC by civilians in this country right now. I don't see how it's anymore alright for someone to 'cut about' with a .300 win mag, as they are right now, but not a 9mm?

It is apparent that UKIP wishes to present itself as representing those concerned with increasing restrictions on freedom, modelling itself as a libertarian alternative to the other Big Government parties. One of the most onerous restrictions in the UK is the overly restrictive legislation regarding legal ownership of weapons and their lawful use in defence of one's self and property. What good is the right to defend yourself when you have no effective means to do so with? In the UK, carrying anything for the purpose of self-defence will result in arrest and prosecution as the item in ques

Suppose there are two intruders with a crowbar and a knife? As many burglars would have. You can go at em spitting venom and swinging like a axeman, or you can stand 15 feet away with a .45ACP in perfect safety with the capability to defend your property against much greater odds.

The most common sense piece of legislation on the matter I've ever read for this country! We have the highest rate of violent crime in Europe! And yet the strictest gun laws! IMO the most basic human right is the right to defend yourself, family and property, with minimal risk. It's utterly insane that we cannot at the very least own a tactical shotgun for home defense and have the right to shoot dead any intruder that enters our homes uninvited. If pistols were legalised I'd without doubt be straight to the shops for a 9mm Sig. LIBERTARIANISM!

Edited, I missread the thread.

About Time Too, Common Sense.. Do You Agree,

It's not road tax anymore, it's an emissions tax. I believe road repairs comes from council tax? Anyway it's a stupid tax system and completely unfair. The fairest method is through fuel tax, the less economical or more miles you do the more tax you pay, simple. It's just an outdated system. -

Trouble is, if we continue to think like that we will never change anything. The electorate has to be brave... -

Wipe all dept national and personal....... just like that? No repurcussions? Cut income tax ridiculously, severely reducing revenue..... just like that. We're running a deficit now, what are we going to loose to make up that deficit and compensate for the dramatically reduced tax revenue? And don't tell me foreign aid, that's piss in the ocean! Scrub borrowing any more to stay afloat, after the debt wipe we wouldn't get used shit roll on loan! Re-nationalise industry...... how? Just steal it back or pay for it? Where's the money coming from to pay for it? -
Trigger: What'd you think's wrong with him? Mike: What do I think? Well, snow-blindness would be my bet, Trig Trigger: Yeah? I thought he was pissed. Mike: What name have they decided on? Trigger: If it's a girl they're calling it Sigourney after an actress, and if it's a boy they're naming him Rodney after Dave! Del: We had Denzil in goal, we had Monkey Harris at right-back, we had...we had camaraderie. Trigger: Was that the Italian boy Jevon: You gotta give Del he's due's ain't ya, he did all the catering by himself. Mickey: Leave off Jevon, can you see Delboy st
