Otherwise they simply executed him. It's my understanding that the verdict of the trial was that the officer that killed Duggan acted under the belief Duggan presented an immediate threat to life. As such the shooting was legal.

I'm a bit into reading about 14 Int etc but that's just autobiographys. Be interested in anything else too? Worst allegation I've heard recently was special operations teams, probably along the lines of 14 Int, setting off bombs to kill Catholic civillians just to stir trouble and make the players move. I'm sceptical... Some shady shit went on without doubt. It was very personal for a lot of those boys.

Well obviously! LOL. Hindsight is always viewed with 20/20 vision. So you believe they should take the policy of "errr maybe he's not a bomber" with every incident? I simply don't agree with that because it would be the most ineffective and dangerous policy for everyone. You know as well as I do that's not why Blackman shot him. It was a simple execution and I'm fine with that. LOL, next time I'm out with my dogs, LOL. Yeah if I'm picking up an illegally held pistol, yeah they can shoot me, LOL. FFS keep it real. If I'm under police surveillance for such a thing while out with the dogs they can crack on. LOL. Fortunately I choose not to put myself in such situations.

I agree in this particular case but we can always say that after the event. They have a shoot to kill policy with bombers, the intelligence was wrong, but that's the thing about intel, it sometimes is wrong. In war innocents die, it's just unrealistic to expect otherwise. It can be avoided by learning from mistakes and improving procedures, but those mistakes have to be made first.

That's not quite right though is is TOPPER. Sgt. Blackman was in no immediate threat, his squad had a bit of a jolly then decided to slug the insurgent. They didn't make a split second judgement call based on sketchy intelligence. The two situations are nothing alike. That said, I don't particularly see any wrong in what Blackman did but that's for other reasons entirely.

How many bomb attacks have been stopped by Security Services since? MI5, CO19, SFs were twitchy as feck in 2005, we were being attacked left right and center. In fairness, that Brazillian lad wasn't done by the police, police don't shoot suspected bombers in the head 9 times from 3 feet away. LOL. It was right on the back of the 7/7 bombings and everybody in SF and the security services were twitchy as fook to stop further attacks. Accidents are going to happen if we want 100% vigilance

There's a balance between living life in the moment and planning for the future.
