Got to be honest, never been in a situation where I've had to fight. Guess that makes me a fanny, LOL. Imo drink almost always has something to do with it and as a rule I've avoided all that business. It's very rare that you have to defend yourself. f**k that when I can just say "right'o fella, you crack on".

Is There Anything We Can't Blame On Them.......?
Born Hunter replied to Blackbriar's topic in General Talk
Initially caused by austere times due to high fuel prices as a result of fecking Arabs inflating oil market prices. Now though, despite more change left after filling up at the pump, income in the north has dropped with the oil price due to the North Sea being put out of business by those fecking Arabs again. -
That old boy has seen better days. Nice picture.

You've touched on this point a few times now wilf. Bloody insightful point it is too. But with regards your comparison of 30s Germany and modern day Britain I see one really big difference between the two, the ideology doesn't exist that did back then to make normal folks into genocidal murderers. As you say, they were normal humans. It was rational logic taken to the extreme. An ideology based on the fundamental belief that the Jews were a subhuman plague and the root of German failure and suffering. It's often the most intelligent people that are capable of such hyper rationalism. The rest

Because they had knowledge on Atomic and rocket physics that the rest of the world didn't, everybody knew this. If the Russians had been allowed to develop the first nuclear weapons and advanced delivery systems then they could have done whatever the hell they wanted. They'd have had complete military world dominance in a way unseen before or since. We needed to match that to ensure our survival.
-
Justice for Nazi war crimes wouldn't have mattered at all if the yanks and us Brits had let the Russians dominate nuclear and rocket technological advances. The Nazis had some clued up lads in that field, they were essential to our survival post war. This was also at a time when space was a potentially completely new battlefield and possibly the saviour of the human species. Mastering space tech was considered strategically essential at that time.

I'd say there's one fairly big difference. She works for a living instead of living off of the state. Claiming the benefit she is entitled to is more of a tax rebate imo. If every estate slag paid as much tax as Katie Price the country would be a much better place. She ain't exactly marriage material or a perfect role model but I don't think I'd put her in the same bracket as the others you are referring to. a bit of a assumption that estate slags don't work mate , so she works for a living how does that make her any different from some estate slag that does works ? Only difference she's

It can be argued that the Russians and the Spanish beat us Brits to that.

How long before matey that owns the bar 'goes missing'? LOL

That's a myth. None of the cabinet perhaps? But no MPs, nah just not true. I could even name you one politician that is former special forces himself, never mind his kids.

People that choose violent crime against everyday folk as a career choice... Just to get an understanding of your mindset.......so is thieving without violence for a living more tolerable than thieving with violence in your eyes ?.......keeping in mind your average shoplifter will probably commit hundreds of " small crimes " against small businesses per year compared to your average guy on the pavement who might commit 1 or 2 " big crimes " against big companies in a lifetime ? I'm not sure I'm quite ready to rank crimes but yeah I would put shoplifting well beneath smashing in

I dare say I could find common ground with some very unsavoury characters, the human personality is very grey like that. I wouldn't want anybody I cared about to come to harm. But put very simply, I'd have little respect for them as an armed robber vs tons of it as a serving soldier.
-
I just respect people that by their nature wont let society deteriorate in that way. They might be wrong or flawed in their thinking but I respect them for it. I don't know if I'm one of those people.... so I'm no hero. You're a sound sort WILF. Folks can have starkly different opinions and remain civil.

Your just against armed robbers or people who brake the law? People that choose violent crime against everyday folk as a career choice... My old woman used to work in Superdrug years ago, as you know all the crack heads go in there regular and nick everything, the policy was that if they were caught a couple of members of staff would have to sit in a room with them until plod turned up !! I made it very clear to my wife that she was NOT to do it under any circumstances because it's not worth getting stabbed for half a dozen packets of razor blades and some cans of Lynx !! We are not ta

LOL That sounds like the closing monologue to a Batman remake!

Would I rather a family member didn't join the forces and die in a feat of extreme valour or would I still be unspeakably proud of them for doing so? Same principle.... Some people instinctively take the moral action in spite of danger. Some people wont stand by and accept shit as 'just the way things are'. And if those people die, they're heroes. You can keep your 8 grand, it doesn't change a thing. Admirable qualities I am sure mate, I understand why you feel like that BUT the fact is a week after the event no one in the community will remember their name !! The plebs would have moved

How about having a bit of pride in the country/area you live in and not wanting to see it become acceptable for armed robbers to turn over wherever they like because "the insurance will pay out"? Call it a superhero complex or whatever, that's FAR more admirable than some chancer saying "well I'm thick and unprivileged so I'm going to terrify people to steal a living". That man had the moral substance to act for the good of his community. The armed robber had ambition, nothing more, I see that everyday. If British citizens had the right to concealed carry, I'd plug the little angel who

Bung a couple of older kids 100 quid to knock that 7 bells out of them. LOL Nightmare to deal with. Chances are the parents couldn't give a f**k, police are utterly useless and dealing with it yourself is liable to end one way... in court!
