Then allow concerned and responsible citizens to be trained and tested to the standard necessary. If 5% of the population were trained militia that would make a he'll of a difference. On a sensible note, once you take out the kids and o.a.ps from the population, you're probably down to half what it actually is, so you'd be looking for 10% of what's left. Once you'd weeded out the Walter Mitty Rambo wannabes (read airsoft fans) and the nutjobs, and the people who don't want to, and the people with checkered pasts, and the stupid ones who couldn't pass the training, How many would you be lef

Top paragraph.......ok so who is in a more terrifying situation.......a careful selected and expertly trained soldier or an everyday Joe who passed a training course ?......we,re going round in circles here but im of the opinion you cant put in what nature left out,you clearly think instinct can be trained into people. Bottom paragraph.....you,ve changed the question, nobody has been assaulted one person was waving a bat in a threatening manner the other was " looking " in a threatening manner who is the more dangerous threat ( who does he pull his gun on ) Yes these are simplified exampl

If the ccw carrier ended it, it didn't become a mass shooting...... Good point Attempted mass shootings then Mass shootings almost always take place in places where guns are banned! Schools, cinemas etc.

Can't see that happening. It's against their "human rights". It's fine for them to refuse to sell me petrol when I'm wearing my crash helmet though. after then attacks nobody knows if its terrorists behind them, surely its national security issue now,, National security unfortunately seems to take second place to cow-towing to these people and ensuring no-one upsets them. National security is at the back of the political agenda for 90% of the electorate these days. At times of peace anybody who values military strength are called warmongers, paranoid and heartless for prioritising defence

If we're going to have a serious discussion about this concept then there are plenty of options to consider. If total freedom to carry is considered too liberal then a trained 'militia', for lack of a better term, is an alternative. Civilians trained to military standards who are then permitted a concealed carry license. It won't happen in Britain mind.

Special forces have been deployed to the streets of Britain as of today for this reason! "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun." I obviously think there is room for discussion on the issue of civilians being armed. If only 1 in 100 citizens were competent carriers then such attacks would be short lived imo. A frenchman on the news having his story relayed was quoted as saying words to the effect of "the most terrifying thing was not having a gun to fight back, we were helpless"...

I have about as much faith in NATO as I do the Green party! This shouldn't even need NATO, western militaries should be voluntarily lining up to address this security threat!

These people are always known to the security services.... With that in mind, I wonder if MI5 gave the parachute regiment a list tonight and said that by the morning they want all on this list detained, "hard arrests chaps, of course defend yourselves if necessary", I wonder what the threat level would be in the morning..... We could learn a thing or two from Israel imo, they call it 'preemptive neutralisation'. We used to practice it, back when we weren't scared of raising our voices. Meanwhile a European maritime task force should be set up to intercept all migrants in the Med and th

Front page of Le Parisien, "This time it's war" I f***ing well hope so! Enough of the unity talk and calming speeches, the first politician that steps up and starts talking like he's at war will be hailed as a national hero.

But a 100 dead in concert hall.......fcuking devastating day for France It is a devastating day for the West as a whole mate. I commend the french forces for moving quickly though. Watch the assault, they took the terrorists by total surprise by the sounds of it. Bang bang bang and silence...

Putin isn't doing shit with ISIS, he's mainly attacking moderate rebels. The RAF have done more in the fight against ISIS than fecking Putin! Lol

Finally got some dead terrorists!

It's a bit late but the french need to consider having the army permanently deployed on the streets of Paris. This is far too common now. Watching videos, the place sounds like Palestine! It's just unbelievable.

Their new MO seems to be gun attacks anyway. Bombs don't quite have the same effect of mass hysteria that a couple of well armed gunmen do. Literally all they need now is a few hundred rounds of 762 and some cheap black market AKs imported from eastern Europe (just take a drive these days) and they're all kitted for mass murder. Worst still they have very real training and experience from holidaying in Syria, Yemen, Pakistan etc.

Was just saying the same thing to my pal, all these attacks recently in France show their intelligence agencies have a lot of improving to do IMO. Surely France can't be that much higher on their target list than other Western European countries, it's just that they're a softer target for whatever reason. I'd put France at a similar level to us in terms of threat level but a little behind us in terms of security services. As you say, quite possibly a softer target. They do however have exceptionally professional counter terrorism and hostage rescue forces, on par with ours. Unfortunately

France is having a hell of a time with these attacks recently. Only a few months back those yanks stopped another. It really makes me value how exceptional our security services are. Without a doubt Britain is high on the agenda! I hope the french GIGN get these fuckers quickly.

There's some interesting symbolism in it, I'm curious what the devil statue is all about and the men fleeing in the background...... Also the way it's painted as though there is a frame set into the painting with it forming part of the foreground at the bottom. Is this painted 'frame' supposed to be some sort of stone building or something? Can't find much info on it so can anyone explain?

Even if the laws regarding hand guns went back to how they were wilf, I very much doubt those women would be seeking permits, doing the training etc & arming themselves........we don't do it in the uk, it's not part of our culture.......Gun enthusiasts & criminals use guns in the uk...... That's not coming from an anti gun stance, I was a gun owner for 15 years........it's just fact, we are not culturally the same as the U.S & I think that's a good thing. Yes shit happens, I've been a victim of random violence in broad daylight myself, but I never dreamed of arming myself, I do
-
I hope you are aware that due to my c cccc cccc ccccrrrazy unhinged nature as a gun owner I am now going to kill you in an uncontrollable fit of rage! I'll probably kill a handful of bystanders too but it'll be justified because I felt threatened by you.
-
It all sounds lovely in theory......but as im sure you can accept.....a soldier is a soldier because he is MADE a certain way......the qualities he has you cant buy or learn or we could all be soldiers.........likewise a loaded gun in an otherwise shy/timid mans hand is like 8 pints of beer in a shy/timid mans stomach.....yes he will have more confidence.....he,s also a f****n liability ! I go back to a point Socks made about the threat itself.......ok so what if a 7 stone weakling has a big powerful guy looking over him ....does he pull his gun ? what if he had a 7 stone weakling waving

LOL, in my world people should be allowed to defend themselves from violent attack, clearly in yours people should just take the pasting and hope it doesn't put them in a serious state..... 'Bill' had every opportunity to behave like a civilised human and clear sign of the consequences of not doing so. I can't believe anybody would see the actions I outlined as anything other than legitimate self defence. We quite profoundly disagree.
-
I'm looking at an aerial photo of where the strike took place in raqqa, with two buildings labelled ISIS HQ and Islamic court........... begs the question why they haven't been targeted? Legitimate targets of the regime, no?

No idea but that painting is very intriguing......
