  1. This ain't my first BBQ neems mate, I understand Political Strategy 101 - Occupy the Centre Ground. That doesn't change the fact that UKIP do not appeal to me as much since they started chasing the workers rights vote that Old Labour centred themselves on and have a stronger populist stance. All these 3rd, 4th and 5th place parties do is act as pressure groups anyway. They help shape the two parties at the top and now UKIP as the ironically right-wing pressure group are likely to push the Tories left economically and also more authoritarian. So at some point their effect on British p
  2. Of course they should aim to gain power and influence, what's the point otherwise? That's why compromise is necessary at times, the only other option as far as I can see was to fade into obscurity. I was just curious to hear what other options there were in your opinion. I don't really understand why we're discussing party strategy when I made a comment on personal politics? UKIP have moved away from me, so they have less appeal to me, much like all the other parties. I'm not saying they shouldn't have done! LOL. I'm not moving to the centre ground just so I can have a jolly wit
  3. What direction do you think the party should have gone? They, like all other parties need mass appeal, and with us having won the EU vote what other option was there? UKIP, like any party can do what they like. I'd respond to your point with, why should I feel represented by a party that is moving away from my political position? As a party strategist, you can't change your voter base and expect to retain your old base. They made their decision and I'm not telling anyone how to run their party. There's no point in being/feeling represented by a party that will never have

  5. This election to me has really influenced and strengthened my belief that we absolutely need democratic reform. Like any project, as the world evolves it is amended to suit, fix upon fix until you get to a point where the entire job is one massive system of 'fixes', fundamentally outdated and unjustifiable. There comes a point when you have to be brave enough to knock it down and rebuild with a more appropriately modern design. We need a full separation of powers, we need a more representative system and we need a Bill of Rights that states our values in stone. We need reform that motivates th
  6. ...during the assault landing on Dog White sector of Omaha Beach as part of the invasion of Normandy, then-Brigadier General Norman Cota (assistant CO of the 29th ID) approached Major Max Schneider, CO of the 5th Ranger Battalion and asked "What outfit is this?", Schneider answered "5th Rangers, Sir!" To this, Cota replied "Well, goddamnit, if you're Rangers, lead the way!"
  7. It's just come to my attention that today is the anniversary of the D-day landings in occupied Europe. Just a reminder of history, no need for anything political.
  8. Proper judges in the new world eh! You wouldn't get that sort of time here for burning infants at the stake never mind GBH.
  9. You couldn't pay me enough to vote for Comrade Jezza, but Mrs May's record is less than exemplary, so why should I vote for either of them ? Well you vote for who you feel you have to. I'm not saying you're wrong. I do think we have a habit of demanding the impossible though. We want the deficit gone, but we don't want to suffer the consequences so the politicians lie about the consequences. Now we're suffering the consequences, but it's not our fault, it's theirs. LOL The way I see it is we live in a two party system and there's no point in trying to deny that or start some crusad
  10. We could always borrow more of our future generation's money to pay for the police of course.....
  11. That's a whole lot of freedom right there Chris! LOL I want to imagine that there's an AR sat between the front seats and cigars in the dash? LOL
  12. That a fiesta van? I used to have a fiesta sportvan. Really liked it for what it was tbh. Was ideal for me at the time.
  13. Our patent attorney has one. Think I'd rather have a V8 Vantage or F-Type for that money mind! Not that I have that money to spend. LOL As for me I'm currently running a FL2 but looking at dmax in the future.
  14. I can accept that. My issue stemmed from when they did have the money and the resource but squandered it. I don't think for a moment that the cuts were a desire to see the system fail, but I think you might have just started a new conspiracy movement! I honestly don't think this is going to get any better until we leave the gulf. The outrage we're witnessing in Britain is understandably justified but it's simply mirroring the outrage in Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan, where our representatives are hitting their civilian population whilst trying to take out legitimate objectives. With some o
  15. Fair one, Born. What bothers me is that they're increasingly asking for more security, and more surveillance, powers. If they can't utilize what they already have, or aren't capable of monitoring credible threats at what point do we give up our liberty to the stage where there isn't any? I can appreciate that funding has been cut and that frontline staff are struggling but some of the kneejerk reactions are very alarming for those of us that don't want to live in a police state. I couldn't agree more, Chris. It's a fair point that the LibDem leader made in the debates that the Poli
  16. Obviously we can't sat anything definite about this particular case yet but when you've got the police saying it's impossible to investigate and keep proper tabs on the people reported to anti-terrorism hotlines due to lack of manpower and as a result there's a higher risk of more terrorist attacks I'll take them on their word, after all who knows better than the men and women actually on the ground dealing with these things day in day out? I agree, but on this specific case I haven't seen anything that shows it could have been stopped with that additional resource/man power yet.
  17. The whole point is the reports to the authorities weren't followed up on properly due to lack of officers and any actionable evidence couldn't be gathered, maybe things would have been different if police numbers hadn't been cut? The police federation certainly think so. I'm not sure we can draw that conclusion yet. Unless he clearly broke some law that I'm unaware of what could the police have done? Even if they were suffering from a lack of man power. Being reported puts him on the radar, it doesn't mean that the security services have all they need to stop him from committing a futu
  18. Once again there was multiple opportunities to put a stop to this before anything happened, fecking shameful But of course the Police Federation were scaremongering when they told May this is what would happen if police numbers were cut. I'm not sure so I'll ask, what actionable evidence were the police given or should they have gotten, bearing in mind our democratic and judicial principles? So far I don't think having extremist views is criminal. As your man Corbyn has rightly reminded everyone. What people need reminding of in all this is that there is a difference between intelli

  20. Similar cctv clip on youtube from a armed robbery in the US. The young lad behind the till clearly unfazed and had a "zero fucks" attitude with the fella pointing a gun at his head. He was widely praised for his cool attitude but to those with a bit of gun knowledge it was clear that the robber's gun had malfunctioned with the slide jammed open.
  21. Exactly, but for most folks who aren't in immediate danger they need to get the f**k out of the way so the lads with automatic weapons can do their jobs. The civilian caught in the shooting on Saturday night is testament to that. They are not f***ing about these days, if you're in the way you're probably getting shot. Taking on marauding terrorists with anything less than a firearm is playing a game with bad odds. That said, respect to anyone who runs towards the danger. Even if they run straight into a lamp post and kill themselves, lol, they showed a bit of courage to stop what's goi
  22. We will just keep voting in the same shit, like we've historically done & nothing will be done. Both main party's have let us down massively, but they continue to be the only feasible option?? Oh but we might get Foxhunting back? Like it ever stopped! Feeble as fcuk.........& so it will go on...... A mass spoilt vote would send a message, but it's never going to happen, nor will a civil war.........just the same old governments & maybe the odd riot if the weather is nice & Xfactors not on the box...... The day of the election is pretty inconsequential in a two party state
  23. So last weekend there was a massive armed police presence in out cities. I was in Nottingham and in the shopping centres and square there were police armed with various assault rifles in pairs all over. Yesterday I was in again and there wasn't f***ing one! I said last weekend that those officers need to be deployed for the next year minimum! Jesus's f***ing christ....
  24. God it's good to hear someone else saying this. I've lost count how many times I've explained this in the past six months. LOL
