  1. Are you talking about a particular dog or plummers in general?
  2. Nice-very racy for 1st cross. Very useful looking hounds.
  3. I had one a few years back-game as hell. Never saw a dog switch on a fight so quick. Not overly aggressive, but when a bitch squared up to her it was instant-no posing and growling, just straight into the face, turn it over and shake like a maniac. Same with mr redcoat. 22 1/2" of pure instinct.
  4. As has been said-the Plummer terrier is just that-A f*****g TERRIER! Although it is said to have been created as a rat dog,it was created using some of the best blood available. As many of these dogs-Russells,fells etc, used, were from top lines of earth dogs,as much as in any other good line of working terrier. The plummer is A TERRIER,with the same instincts as any other working terrier-huge prey drive, exceptional nose, courage and intelligence. Some better than others-same as any other type. Yes there are some that dont work them-same as any other breed. As for money-how much is a dece
  5. Nothing wrong with a piss in the wind-as long as the wind is behind you. Its when you piss INTO the wind-that sucks cos you get covered and smell of wee.
  6. Snap! I had one chewed a small hole under the nest box,big enough to pull straw through and nested underneath! cheeky sod. Didnt last long though.
  7. Well said Fireman. Also, folks just cant accept that Plummers are superior working dogs. If that dont lock it nothing will!!!
  8. Cracker mate. How tall is he?
  9. Bolted cats before but never found both together.
  10. Plummer-the jack russell terrier, its training and entering. Love or loath him,the book is a good manual for training any type of terrier. Cuts through bullshit and has sound advice for the novice. Here we go..........
  11. Bloody hell keeps, how are you in the right place at the right time for those pics!!?? top notch as usual.
  12. Hell of a Qoute that mate. I take it you Don't Train your dogs to Retrieve.Or can't Train your Dogs to Retrieve. Beat me to it. At least Charlie's probably fit chasing dogs around a field all night! :laugh:Not to mention the rabbits bolting for home meanwhile!
  13. Stop running it on live ones and go back to scratch using a dead rabbit to retrain it. Most of the methods suggested will probably make it stop retrieving all together. Think about it-the dogs fetches a rabbit to you then you pinch it or whatever-you're punishing it for fetching, in its mind.A Dog cannot reason that you are doing it because it will not let go.If it will retrieve a dead one then coax it to let go then reward and praise. You'll get result with patience.
  14. I had some good bags in the 70s 80s lamping and ferreting,i had to , i needed the money,i had a young family and i got 27 pound a week sick pay,i could,nt lay bricks ,but i could catch rabbits i had a good market and got a good price, there are more rabbits about nowdays you just have to get off your arse and find them,i used to be out early evening or late night, often both ,i needed the money ,after thirty years at it i no longer need the money,so now i still go out as much as i can ,but large bags dont interest me [ though i like to read about others getting them]the same as chalkwarren,i n
