  1. Get a feking grip Stormy boy and pick up on whats been written about phyisical ability for starters!!! Never seen one. yet. wouldnt be my choice as a small vermin dog but i dont think thats what any right thinking small vermin hunter would breed them for. horses for courses. As i said they would need a lot of hard work and would be happy and stable. Think about it-bored dogs=destructive dogs.
  2. These dogs, and others with a bad reputation, are usually overly aggressive because they are in the wrong hands. dogs of this type need the right upbringing and need an outlet for their strong hunting/guarding instincts. the "dealers" etc seen with the tight lead "dog on a stick" or urban dwellers giving the dog 10 mins round the block do little to give the dogs an outlet for their instincts. Hence the problems. these types of dogs kept "busy" are a different story. In this case i think the cross would not suit the average hunter unless used to the max,and very regularly imo.
  3. Why is it some people cant see by the end of there nose.Tell me one thing where this breed would do better than the well knowen breeds thats what they are trying to find out.Every breed as got faults, thats all you and a few others seem to be looking for.WOULD I BE RIGHT IN THINKING YOU COME FROM A VILLAGE :clapper:
  4. I know what you mean about the look in his eyes! Had a 22 1/2" bitch a few years ago-game as they come. I remember having to choke her off a 25" greyhound that made the mistake of fronting up to her. She didnt look for a fight but would finish one when challenged. Hold like a bulldog! Pencil me in for a pup if ozzie ever goes over a whippet.
  5. Hunted one a couple of times with hounds in the early 's. Never did get caught.
  6. Thats a belter shiny. the eyes look a bit insane in the 2nd pic!
  7. In the dark? tut tut! Nice dogs doing proper mouching lurcher work. You might want to hide the air rifle though!
  8. You can make your own. Get some blue car windscreen sun strip (the type that boy racers used to put names on-Dave/sharon etc!). Cut a circle of it to suit your lens, about 2 1/2" to 3" on my striker, and stick it on! i put double on the striker as its very bright, and it cuts down side glare a lot. You lose a bit of whiteness off the beam (slight)but its a fair trade to cut cut down the side glare.
  9. I like my 3/4 grey 1/4 collie would like to try a Wheaton cross at some point heard alot about them Good choice keano.Smart and quick. The wheaton cross is the gamest ive seen though. Mine was only 22 1/2" but would tackle anything.Highly recommended!
  10. Surely that would be a lurcher x lurcher?? A reverse cross would be beddy x grey crossed back to pure beddy. Come to think of it,a reverse could be a useful cross if big enough.
  11. If shes gone off her feet before and you've had to give her mars bars, she has been over run. I learned the hard way and lost my best bitch chasing the numbers. She was a game bitch who would run till she dropped-literally. She had a couple of "wobblers" which meant carrying her back to the car. The third time she was not so lucky-she died on the way home. My advice is quit while you're ahead,or more to the point, while she is ahead, especially if she hasnt lamped for a month. Believe me,if you kill the bitch you will feel a complete c**t-i did and still do.
  12. Hard mouthed, possessive and a liability when hunting. Bargain.
  13. Nice one stevie. The Knockers have still got to have a bitch though!!
  14. BE OPEN MINDED Im being open minded by asking about your methods. You are unwilling to respond.Looks like we're all destined to mediocrity.
  15. START THEM AS SOON AS THEY CAN WALK Your very early entering to quarry has been talked about by UNFIT in his posts.I had accepted his offer to see these dogs, but he has since disappeared.(Banned maybe?) I would be very interested to hear your training and entering methods if you care to post them. I am not taking the piss here-unfit has said that your dogs are a cut above the average- if its true hows it done?
  16. True but nowt looks as macho as a "jigsaw" faced terrier!
  17. Leave the trap in the same place for a while. Rats are neophobic-they have an innate fear of new objects or changes on their territory and take a while to accept them. Can take a few weeks sometimes.
  18. Top class lads (and lasses). Good going with those whippets too.
  19. Theres always one.Actually theres usually bloody loads!! Come on you puppy police-someone has got the temerity to even mention puppies!! I say find out where this peddler lives and burn his house down and confiscate his dogs before he commits this heinous crime! The nerve of the man!
  20. Well thats me put in my place. I'm sure Brian wouldn't be amused by or take part in petty PERSONAL squabbles on a PUBLIC forum-he was a grown man. Please feel free to have the last word-a cutting witticism no doubt. This is where i draw the line. All yours...................................
  21. Go for it.You're breeding for yourself-you dont need any "experts" giving their permission!
  22. Words fail me again! I think you missed my point first time Glenn. Well done on hijacking the lads thread everyone. Typical Plummer bullshit-its no wonder they aren't taken seriously. May i suggest that you ALL take a long hard read of the thread carefully from the beginning? From the "use em to backfill" to the "messiah" of plummers. f*****g embarrassment.
  23. Nice russells you have there goldie. Love it when rats "tree"-they aint as agile as their bushy tailed cousins!
